well, it would be hard to do that with AlamDV.
Lissen to what the other guy said, that is gonna make a cool explotion, and make it look real, If you are avible to do it without AlamDV or some other program and can do it Live on location, DO IT!

hmm... have you seen band of fellows? they have explosions in there that you might be needing... if thats the kind you want, dig a hole, stick like a plank in it, and then put dirt and mud and stuff back on it... then when you want it to explode, you have somebody step on the part of the plank that's sticking out and it works like a lever to hurl the dirt and junk up and it looks like a small explosion or something.

As Andreas says, you could use an Alam explosion, what you could do is find the explosion you like best & then apply it to your footage. What you could do then is make your footage slightly brown so it looks mud like.

But Alam plugins are never going to achieve the authenticity of doing a mud explosion in real life, & so I recommend Doug's technique, or something similar

I have just submited a muddy explosion plug-in.

Not my best, but there are better explosion plug-in makers than I, that’s if anyone else wants to give it a try?

Well, My advise would be to do this:

Then maybe put an AlamDV explosion (maybe one of sollthar's arial view ones) and mask it so that about half of the explosion is under ground, then just put it at 50% opacity... wait tranparency. wink if that doesnt look right, you could just wait for a holiday where you can blow stuff up (4th o' July, US) and then put an artilery shell (the ones like the big arial things but there is like 6, and you put each one down the tube) and use one (without the tube) and put in upside down about 3-4 inches under the ground is loose dirt or sand. Then light the fuse (its usually about a 10 second fuse. And step back. It should not do anything for a few seconds, then BAM there is sand/dirt everywhere. Make sure you test it a few times to make sure it does what it is supposed to do 2 or 3 times, then you can use the other 3 or 4 for shooting the scene. If you want it to look more authentic (this shouldnt be a problem during the day, but at night) then buy a red or orange colored shell pack.

Hope this helps! biggrin
