Hi,

As I haven't uploaded any movies before I don't know if you've got this message allready but -

It seems a number of people are uploading wmv files, and as most of you are aware this is difficult for people using MACs to watch them.
So can I suggest you just put up a small message on the upload page warning the user that if they upload a wmv file, many people won't be able to view it - or something similar.

This may seem pathetically small, but it's prob worth it biggrin

after a few quick googles i found several forums discussing this same topic, it seems that on the most part they were talking about a program called Cleaner. The problem is, recent updates of this program have made it so that you can only convert wmv to mov or mpg on pc's now (which seems a bit pointless)...

There doesn't seem to be any software that can play it on mac tho - except there was discussion of windows media player, which seems the most logical answer, but i think i am right in thinking that you can't get the most recent version on mac yet or something...

Hope this helps a little, does anyone else know of anything different to try?

I've been viewing wmv files since OS 9.
It's not really a problem for Mac OSX users.

With Cleaner 6.0 you can create wmv files using
a Mac wtih OS X.

OK - Then perhaps a small dialog that comes up telling people where they can download movie players for different OS(s)

E.g MOV files - Quicktime - www.apple.com (Mac + Windows)

Somebody back me up biggrin

I think doing that is more trouble than it's worth. When you submit a film you could write in your description about the file, but if anyone has any problems they ask in the forums, & the problem usually gets solved.
