Yay another movie starring the world least probable super hero...Toby Macguire...He is such a hack and a horrid actor to boot...If I ever saw him in real life I'd jack him in the face with the side of my foot...

Well, its certainly a trailer that leaves a lot to be desired.

I will go and see it, because I really enjoyed the first movie, I just hope Spidey gets jiggy with the ladies more in this one...

Did anyone see Seabiscuit? I didn't, because the trailers showed me how crappy it was going to be. Mainly due to mr. Maguire.

Well, time for me to pitch in...

As i have a 56k i haven't given that spidey 2 trailer a look - however, i did see it on tv, with a few exclusive clips and such like...

I wasn't overly keen on the original spiderman, i liked it the first time, but it didn't really have lasting appeal. However the trailer for spidey 2 looks interesting, doc oc being one of the better characters. The cgi looks cartoony (which i don't mind, as the films originate from comic and cartoon) but doc oc's arms look quite cool on the most part, hopefully we will see some kick ass action between the insect and the sea-dweller! smile

I look forward to spidey 2, but am not overly bothered by it at the same time, i will go and see it, but i don't believe it will be as good as it should be...

I just want them to bring in Venom into one of the films - rumours were that he would be in the second or third instalment - but, looks like we still have to wait a while...

Tobey, a bad actor? LOL. I'm not a fan, but I can clearly see he can act. Man, some of you geeks are blind and love just ragging on stuff (you sad, sad people), because you can't do anything except talk crap about something else behind your PC. Tobey can act better than anyone you've ever seen or will ever know (and far better than anyone that will ever appear in any of your films).

Don't hate him because he's got everything you wish you could have. He's obviously not that special in the looks department (just an average looking guy), so I doubt it is his looks that got him where he is....it's acting talent.

Is he Jim Carrey talented? No. Is he Tom Hanks talented? Maybe not. Can he act? Of course! Is he the best actor in the world? No. Does he make a good Spiderman? ABSOLUTELY! When I first heard of him playing Spiderman I thought "WTF"? Turned out I was wrong. He fit the role perfectly IMO.

You geeks need to know the meaning of "bad acting" before you go throwing that label at quality actors. Go watch some indie or amateur films (or softcore porn on cinemax) and then you'll see what bad acting is really like. Learn the definition of "BAD".

Heh...another Mystical guest cloak thrown over the stupidest about of blithering i have ever heard...

*Firstly- Im on a Mac
*Secondly- All you have to do is not smile when you are crying and you will have 1 up on Mr. Tobes
*Thirdly- I have met better actors visiting a wax museum
*Fourthly- I know Salma Hayek, Elijah Wood, Antonio Banderas and many other actors.
*Fifthly- Have you ever had a coherent thought???
*Sixthly- Do you have body odor?

Didnt he just contradict what he just said....?

"When I first heard of him playing Spiderman I thought "WTF"? Turned out I was wrong. He fit the role perfectly IMO."

He didnt fit the role perfectly... Read the comics, Spiderman wasnt a nerd...

Tobey Maguire isn't a bad actor at all and I think he is perfect for a film Spider-man (the Spider-man in the old 1967-1970 cartoon on TV was a total nerd). He is great in The Cider House Rules and not bad at all in Wonder Boys as far as I can remember. I'm gonna see Seabiscuit as soon as its out to rent.

But he's always the same. He's definitely not bad at what he does, but he's always the kinda dopey "blank look on my face to portray all emotions but happy" guy.

I don't see that he is always the same unlike Keanu Reeves - now he really isn't an actor (I'll let him have Bill and Ted but thats about it).

I wonder how The Matrix films would have turned out if Ewan Macgregor had signed up as I believe he was the first choice to play Neo?

keanu is 'Neo' to us all now, but Ewan would have brought alot of different ability to the film (ie, acting wink ) but potentialy not as much image.

Style over substance? Maybe...
I think Toby Maguire was fine as Spidey and I like the fact that he's not a major star or rather a star image, such as keanu or alike, that was a bonus.

I thought that Maguire played Spiderman well - I mean, the whole 'nerd thing' was to emphasise the duality of the character : one on hand, he's supposed to be an average bloke, and the other, a superhero...

Meh, just IMHO...

Cheers,
Arktic.

The biggest problem with the first Spiderman was the bloody Power Rangers mask that the Green Goblin was wearing. Probably the biggest costume design blunder of all time - it just plain looked stupid. His whole suit did. Dr. Octopus in the new trailer, on the other hand, is looking quite cool. I'm not dying to see Spiderman 2, but I am looking forward to it.

I think tobey is a decent actor - maybe not oscar worthy - but maybe one day.

I do think Will Smith is a good actor - plays very beleivable characters (enemy of the state...in bad boys his character has great presense and personality)

Oh I think Will Smith is an incredible actor...

Enemy of the State
Independence Day
Bad Boyz 1 and 2
Ali

Ali was probably his best acting job ever...All of the acting in that movie was incredible...but it was quite a shame that the story was so overwhelmingly long and boring, when I first saw it I fell asleep in the first 45 minutes.

I would have to agree with cantaclaro. I personally think that Will Smith wouldn't have been too convincing if he was cast as "Neo." Mostly because he always acts like a rapper in almost every movie that I've seen him in. He has the cocky demeanor and the attitude that he throws around when he goes into almost every situation. I recall "Wild Wild West," (ahh! "it burns us!") a movie in which Will Smith felt completely out of place. (Yeah, believability wasn't the film's forte, but Will Smith made it even less so) "Neo" was kind of a geeky character in the beginning of the film, and that just doesn't mesh too well with Will Smith's mannerisms in my opinion. But, then again, maybe I'm underestimating Mr. Smith, I never did see "Ali."[/u][/url]

In my opinion, I couldn't care less about Tobey Maguire - he does a decent job as Spider-Man. I must agree with the Goblin costume, as one of the stupidest design EVER, but the real problem with Spider-Man is Kristen Dunst! In the comics, Mary Jane is a total babe, Kristen Dunst barely qualifies as marginally pretty on a good day! And her angle on the character is totally wrong...

But hey! It made gazillions and they'll keep pumping them out until it stops making money. It's pretty much written in the sky.

Guest here again, sorry for sounding so rude in my last post. I just can't stand it when people sit back and diss people with talent. I am no fan of his at all really, but to call Tobey's acting "bad" is a stretch. He is no less than a decent actor.

Canta, you know some actors? Good for you. Do you mind me asking how you know them? I agree with you about Will Smith. He is a great actor.
