Well, you get force from buying the programs, you get force for making plugins and getting medals, but mainly, you get force on the forum...

At the top of each post is the chance to rate it, -1 or +1, every week all the plus ones you have recieved effect how much force you are given for that week - it is to encourage people to post constructively, and to make the forum more user friendly...

Hope this helps...

Actually, (as far as I know) you do not get force by posting movies. If this was so, people would be randomly submitting movies only for force.

Clear

You get force for -

1) Making Plugins (More force for better awards)
2) Receiving +s in posts
3) Buying a CSB Digital Product
4) If someone is kind enough to transfer some of their Force to you...

I don't know about submitting films tho, seems stupid if you get force for submitting a film biggrin

However, you can ONLY transfer 1% of your force...

I've transfered 2 force points to otteypm before, I'm sure he was thrilled smile

That's my point...

It's just some people are completely obsessed by force, it's quite amusing seeing how people on the forums react to force, and their pathetic attempts to get it... btw, I know I'm being hypocritical biggrin

It's more than just a number. The more you have, the bigger your avatar can be (but only up to like 800 or something, then it becomes useless).

who cares about force? in the long run think about it...you wont care in about 10 years....you may have a bigger chance of thinking of the films your making now than force.

The force does'nt really matter. Even if you have 0 force you could be a good movie maker.

What if our world was built with force points.

That would be really wicked. smile

Thats like saying that an Olympic medal is just some thing hanging from a strap.

Force is a lot more than "just a number", its somthing that shows your knowledge and how helpful you are. It shows how dedicated you are to the FX world.

It has a lot to do with people's oppinion on you. For example:
I think if two people, one with no force and the other with 2000 force, posted advice that said opposite things I would go with the person with 2000 force than the person with none

Right, so if Peter Jackson signed up with zero force (coz he hasn't bought Alamdv/Chromanator), and offered some film-making advice on a thread where schwar also offered advice, that instantly makes schwar's advice better because schwar has 10000 more force than PJ does?

An olympic medal is what athetes the world-over strive for. The Olympics is - if not THE goal - then certainly one of the goals of an athletes life. Their entire training may be with a view to getting in the england squad, and as an athlete, their *entire life* may be devoted to it.

At your age, aaron, your entire life is probably having your first drag on a cig, getting into college, ensureing that your stash of pr0n isn't discovered by your mum, and getting laid.

Force, conversely, is a byproduct of several things. 0 force is no different from 999999 force, if what you're saying is helpful. It doesn't show how dedicated you are either, it simply aggregates your effect on the community of fxhome.com. I can guarantee that ILM won't hire you on the strength of how many entirely ficticious force points you have!

At the end of the day, your force does not make you a better person in the real world. its just a forum, its just a website, its just a number. If force was in any way transferable off this website, if it paid your taxes, got you laid, got you elected, made you a better film-maker, i'm sure we'd be flooded by users. (which we aren't).

I guess that 'the more force you have, the more evil you are' is a true statement of that theory as well?

Force is a great idea, I wouldn't say it's evil but I suppose it's there to show apart the newbies from the pros, or in theory that's what it's supposed to do...

FORCE is like a force... a force, that forces us to do stuff to get more force smile

Oops i got a -1 for some silly reason... oh well
Just goes to show how sensitive some people are to criticisms of force smile

But on the bright side, if I could I'd give you a + to make up for it as it's an unfair rating...

Maybe so but if you have a stronger force than you must try and obtain the ability to stop the force from forcing to do stuff to get force... we should write a Dr.Sues book smile

It's weird you say that...
There are loads of people like me on the forums who appear to be doing 'force seeking' stuff - like posting links/plugins etc
Yet, people like Solthar, who have huge amounts of force, hardly ever bother now biggrin
I suppose they just look down on us...
