If you are a Mac user who needs space-themed backdrops for your movies you might like to check out Flaming Pear's website.

The Lunar Cell filter generates customizable space views -

I've posted a quickie example of an Earth view which took all of 10 seconds to generate. It's incredibly easy to use.

Glad to hear it.
The LunarCell filter is capable of MUCH more than the sample image I posted. But it's the ease of use that really makes it shine.

PS - I don't work for Flaming Pear; just thought I'd mention it because it is capable of generating some truly stunning backdrop images.

There's an easy way to make planets in photoshop too. It took me about 5 minutes to make this:

But things like that would work better for science fiction movies like... Star Wars?

But yeah, cool program. And they have some other cool stuff there too.

Photoshop, boyee. It's just a texture mapped paintbrush, paint the texture on, then add some filters and viola!

Actually, I think you can do about everything on that website in photoshop.

EDIT: I see now that these are plugins... Heh. I'm an idiot.

Just for sh*ts and giggles,
try playing around with the LunarCell filter along with Flaming Pear's "Flood" filter. (Should be a demo of that as well, eh?)

You can whip up some pretty cool flooded effects for any photo, but it looks downright bizarre when combined with the LunarCell filter possibilities.

Point well taken.
Commercial apps or glorified actions?
Truly, the line is often blurred.
