Hi all. Just found this great site. I am planning on purchasiong a new computer this weekend. I'm going to be using Vegas 4. My question is, I was looking at the plugins and I keep reading about the "quad" i.e. "problems with the quad" or "effect spills out the quad."

I'm a neophite, so could you explain this to me.

Also I'm using a DVX-100. Any of use this camera and will the 24p screw up any of the effects.

I anxiously await a response.

The quad is the box where the effect is. Quad spill means that the effect exits this box which can create problems unless p ut full screen.

If you look on some of the tutorials on alamdv on this site, you could probably learn more about it. (tarn's video tutorials)

It is called a quad because it has four sides. Just a box around the effect, basically. And Douglas had a good idea to look at the tutorials for a visual.

Here is a link: Tarn's Tutorials

Quad (latin for 4) is basically short for "control quad"....a group of 4 coordinates arranged to form a 2d square, given to certain effect plugins as a method of controlling their appearance.
Each coordinate of the quad allows you to manipulate the object to which it is attached. The Quad is only an editing tool, and is not renderable.
