I was surprised I hadn't seen this anywhere on the site yet (maybe I missed it?), but I have been itching for a simple overlay which mimics the 16x9 aspect ratio. I tried messing with Alam to make my own plugin but I have a hard time with it. Right now I use the star wars Yavin IV plug-in for the black area and try to get it roughly right, but it still seems off.

Does anyone think they could do a plugin which you could lay over a standard DV film to have it match the 16x9 ratio? And maybe other desirable film ratios? I think this would be one of the most useful things Alam could have.

Thanks, and Chromanator is hard at first, but it rocks!

The reason this sort of thing isn't so common is because you need an editing program to use with Alam to keep the sound and almost every one lets you do this already.

Remember also that when not using DV its better to crop you footage to the right ratio than to add black bars because black bars are very bad for compression.
