After using Cinema 4d for a month, for a university assignment I was asked to animate a chess game in any way that I desired. The objective was to show a good understanding of 3d modelling and animation. However, I wasn't completely intent with moving pawns slowly around a board and came up with what you may soon be watching.

It's far from perfect, and there are a few areas which I know I can improve upon but that wasn't the point of the excercise, let's just say that you won't see similiar mistakes in my next 3d project wink

Enjoy.

Really well done.
I wish I could have done just 1 secound of that.
A few minor things like the way on one cut there was light on the board then the next cut it was gone.

But 5 from me. smile

Thanks b4uask smile

The one I've just started modelling on is getting me really excited smile

The reason for the lighting changes was simply that I didnt have enough time to render the whole thing. I spent alot of time making it and almost forgot that I'd need to render it. I cut the background out to save on rendering time. smile

Funny you mention Worms....

Worms was one of the main inspirations, and if I had to remake this movie now I'd have the chess pieces move around a little more and show more expressions, ala worms humour. smile

Thankyou for your kind comments. biggrin

Thanks UFBasser smile

The hardest part of the whole animation was the explosion at the end, modelling the whole room took the most time but it was pretty routine as far as modelling goes.

Perfecting the camera took a little while too.

Anyone who's watching it now, when the camera goes by the mirror take a look at what's on my TV smile

Well, I actually thought when I first saw this a while back I was going to enjoy laughing at Matt's (Hybrid-Halo) attempt at 3D work. However, he gave me a huge bottle of shut the hell up. Its a very well put together piece, and the actual room is a direct re-creation of Matt's bedroom, which makes it again.. more cool (not that any of you knew that!)

Anyways, as he knows, I don't like it when the bullet falls and hits the floor, it does a strange camera spin which left me with a 'excuse me?' look on my face. The rest of it and the actual war bit are cool... I would have preferred more blood and maybe some kick ass Queen Vs Knight war action.

Thanks for the nice ratings guys smile

And er-no, I agree with you about the bullet fall. It's something I really should correct but I just don't have the time. Expect the next piece to be slightly more perfect wink

You also mentioned something I forgot, the model is of my bedroom smile
