ok I know there are a lot of people who had some ideas for movies that didnt turn out so I figure why let a good idea go to waiste. Maybe someone else is able to use them so poste them on here. I have a few but Ill just put one on for now.

Restless Sleep: A kid kills people while sleep walking. We couldnt figure out if we wanted to be real or if we just wanted him to be dreaming it like twilight zone or something. Really we just didnt get aroudn to it and lost interest (you know how it goes).

That acutally has happend to a man from Pickering (where i am from)

He slept walk on night - went outside and drove for 6 KM to his in-laws house. Walked into the house, took a knife from the kitchen and murdered his mother-in-law. his father-in-law woke him up and he didn't know what happend or how he got there. In court - he was charged with murder - however was found not guilty by all 6 psychiatrists/psychologists by reason of sleep walking and being uncouscious of his actions.

that would really mess up your family

Another one we had is almost impossible to pull off

The Glass Swords: during a war a preist gives some kings these five swords made of glass. The swords are invinsible when used for good but shatter when used for evil, its the perfect sword, light and fast to move. We decided to have it years later when all the kings are dead and two swords are destroyed. That way we could make the cast really small and not have to deal with large armies. Are only real problem was making the sword, we tried molding plastic which turned out awefull and then we tried freezing ice in a mold and that didnt work either.

I might, if Jessy gives me the right to, though I don't have a CSB product, so I couldn't submit it to the cinema.

Another idea we had was

Final Blow: a man is about to be executed in a firing line and uses a but of fighting techniques to break free. This one was designed to accompany LOTS of special effects but there was little plot. Oh yeah the people about to kill him were terrorists

Heh, that's ok, I wasn't gonna do exactly what you said anyway, my version would be like they find a body, but later when they come back it's gone, and it couldn't have gone anywhere far because they were only away for like 10 min, and there is no trace of any kind in any direction in the snow.... this isn't a failed story, don't use it biggrin

Hey but jessy, looking forward to it, when should it be out?

Yeah I'm doing it. Just not now. Maybe in March or something....
Failed Idea:

Some kind of Bigfoot movie in the woods, with this climber that gets followed by a bigfoot. I had found a PERFECT location, with cliff and all, where I could film freely, but I was so anxious about learning 3D I hadn't realised how much work it is to animate a Bigfoot, so I won't be making this one yet.... maybe I will, but somebody else try it, it'd be cool.

Hey just had an idea, I could film my idea based on Red Snow in the woods meant for the bigfoot movie, it's kinda like a hill (really big hill) with lots of trees and this rock surface on top... typical Canadian scenery, and nobody is ever there. So I could do it in the summer. Hopefully by then I'll have AlamDV smile .

I had a project I was working on, it died after a couple of years, but it was huge. Called "Shoot to Kill, Kill to Survive" if I ever write anything as good as that again I'll be a happy man, basically I redrafted it again and again for years, so almost every line was great (if I do say so myself smile ) there was interesting characters, loads of character developement and subplots, pretty clever plot with cover ups, corrupt officials, all sorts.

However an unreliable bunch of actors caused it to slow down almost to a standstill. after 9/11 a terrorist movie didn't seem like such a good idea and that's when enthusiasm for the project completely dissappeared, then my camera broke and we buried the film, since then the script has been deleted off the computer as well.

If I can redo the screenplay I'd love to make it again one day, that'd be amazing.

Curious how the camera breaking killed that project and it's broken three times on my current one and it's still going. (It's even in the repair shop as we speak.... err...... type.)

My biggest failed project is a documentary on a medium size Civil War battle. We shot in 2002, and I have anout 20 hours of video, and maybe 14 hours of sound (gun and cannon fire, men marching, etc.) that was recorded on minidisc at reenactments. Got some great footage and I even put together a very small trailer with an actor reading a letter from a man who was killed in the battle. Everyone that saw our stuff really liked it.

Problem was, we needed access to a large collection of photographs from the period, and the owner would not give us permission to use them. Turned into a bit of a political thing with another Civil War organization sort of blocking our efforts. We just eventually gave up. Too bad, because the battle was not well known, but was quite influential early in the war, and there were some great stories that we heard in our interviews.

My other big failure is my epic, UFO. There is a teaser trailer in the cinema. Just too ambitious, because it would have been an EFX extravaganza., plus the usual problems of getting friends into doing the acting for a long film.

My idea was titled "Flatlanders"

It's a horror/suspense film set in my home state of Maine around a small
community that doubles in size every winter because of the out of state hunters that are drawn to it's expansive woodlands. The townspeople tolerate this on several levels because of the needed cash influx needed to sustain the town's finances, as well as another reason.

On the outskirts of town lives a creature that feeds once a year before hibernating for winter, and the townspeople decided that it would be better to have the creature feed on "Flatlanders", out of state tourists than to have the creature feed on townspeople, which was the case before the town created the network of hunting lodges that are advertised all over the country.

So the story carried out over the course of the first week of hunting season one perticular year with a group of out of state friends coming into town chasing the promise of some of the best hunting money can buy, but end up in a struggle to escape the small town with their lives as the knowing locals direct them to one of the cabins built nearby the creatures den.

It begins with a couple of the hunters leaving early one morning to get an early jump on the other two, who they have a bet with over who will bag the largest buck, only to return empty-handed to find the cabin dishevled and blood-soaked. It ends with the creature venturing into town to "stock it's cubboards" for the winter as the hunters have gotten away.

It isn't really a throw-away idea as much as it is one that I haven't been able to film, so if someone can do a GOOD JOB of bringing this to life, then they are welcome to it.

My film "Tim Reaper" may never get made,
A story about the death of a boy, who then replaces the grim reaper as the reaper of souls, but in the process gets hit on the head and suffers amnesia, losing his scythe and "reaping for idiots" book. So he continues life as he did before he died believing he is the same kid, and has never died.

Of course, it's a bit more complicated than that.

Meet Joe Black?

Just kidding.

That could be cool, what would make or break it (the idea) would be the "Complications".

I would assume that one of the complications would be the sudden influx of "unclaimed" souls drifting around?

Here's another one that may never get made, because I am having a hard time making it non-laughable.

The worlds premiere wheelman is killed by a new crime lord in his new town when he refuses to help him with a job. The story continues on months later as the new crime lord begins to turn his attention to the Wheelmans son, and finally locates and kills his son. The wheelman killed his brother during the fateful meeting, and this is his payback. The wheelman is given a deal by the devil to exchange the souls of the crime lord and his gang, which are more desireable to him, for the soul of his son, which is still in purgatory. So the wheelman is brought back, ala "The Wraith" to claim the souls of the gang, but there is a problem. The devil cannot give him a body, so he returns as a ghost, and with no way to kill the gang he must find another way to get their souls, and finally rests on what he knows best, racing them for them. He enlists the help of one of his former friends to help setup the races, he picks them off one-by one.

He finally gets to the leader last, who wrings the story from the wheelmans friend and uses it to make his own deal with the devil, and in the end the wheelman and crime lord settle the mess in a epic race through hell, and in the end the only one to get to live is the wheelmans son.

So you see, there are numberous problems with this story, but if anyone wants to take it on and finish it, it is officially on the scrap heap, since I have no time to flesh it out.

We had one that died in pre-production due to the fact, like many, finding convincing actors among our friends is damn near impossible.

It was about the second coming of Christ, along with the Devil. It opens in a bank robbery (in progress). The crook shoots the teller after getting his money, and then gets shot exiting the bank by the cops. There is no doubt that both victims are really dead (if shot correctly)

30 hours later, both the teller and the criminal walk out of the morgue alive and uninjured. It's all over the news, both religious people and non-religious people giving their views.

Since the criminal is now alive, he is arrested and stands trial (a very public trial) He is let off the hook due to a technicality, can't try a man who is legally dead.

After the trial, the men discover they have what appear to be supernatural powers (i.e. the no-alive teller can turn water into wine, and the now-alive criminal can control other's minds at will, etc.) These powers are not hidden from view, and are all over the news. The church comes to a single conclusion, that the teller is the Second coming of Christ, and that they have little time to save as many souls as possible before the rapture really begins. They convince the man he is Christ (after much reluctance on his part). Giving their rush, the now-Christ character convinces the church that there is no time to try to save the non-converted and that they must gather the believers before it is too late.

The now-devil guy returns to the slums he was born into with a fresh perspective on life. He finds a prostitute that has been stabbed in an alley on his way home, her victim still standing over her. A single touch drops the victim and he heals the hooker. She says that she knew she was a dead woman, and that he saved her life (bla, bla, bla)

The gist of the story is, that the "Devil" takes the opposite view of the Christ character. Realizing that after rapture, his kind will be left to inherit the Earth, so he starts accepting the churches rejects and helping the poor prepare themselves for their new positions in life after Christ and his followers depart. There are alot of plot twists, symbolism, and very complicated overtures in it. But in the end, the Christ character and his followers are left standing alone on the Earth.

That is a horrible synopsis of it, but if it even remotely comes across you can se why we couldn't pull it off.

Hey that sounded really good, but its kinda been done before... it was on a two part special in england where there is a second coming and it is a man who wasnt born Gods son but went missing for a month and then came back and did all these miracles, like turned day to night in a football stadium and stopped a bomb exploding in a pub he was in. He said like that every1 had to cast away all the old religions and build a new one, but then his girlfriend realises wat has to b done and she poisons him and destroys him god and the devil forever...

I pretty much figure that any idea I ever come up with was at one point or another, someone else's idea first, lol.

Plus, the way we were going to shoot it was pretty much effect free, which left us in the dirt. I find capturing and editing action shots to be pretty easy compared to filming dialogue without putting the view to sleep or interfering with the individual scenes "message".

about two days ago I was talking to someone online (MSN) and their tv just randomly shut off around midnight. That got me thinking:

Someone is sitting at their computer typing on MSN or whatever when their computer suddenly starts writing on its own (not that the keys are moving, just words are appearing on screen under YOUR sn) then the lights flicker and there is a low and freaky voice....thats all I have....

Well... it hasn't really failed... but... I was hoping to make a movie giving another view on the continuing trend of growing human dependence on technology. It was kind of going to be another man vs. machine movie, but I wanted to make it in a way that would be different than, "Uh oh, those robots suuuure do look mad! And look at their glowy red eyes!"

I was hoping to make a scenario that would be a little more "realistic" in that the robots don't just ... for some reason... turn against us. Well... actually... there... weren't going to be any real... "I,Robot" or "Terminator" type robots.

Basically, it was going to be a story where our very own personal computers start acting odd and such, and they start running defrags and antivirus scans on their own, and finally the protagonist would either discover or assist in discovering that all the computers in the world have linked to become the brain cells of the Internet, which has become, in and of itself, and intelligent entity, a mind.

I thought that was darn spiffy. biggrin

some guys from gamestop ( a video game store in the us) wanted me to make them a halo stop motion movie. That was about 6 months ago. I saw one of them the other day at a restuarant and he asked me how it was going. I hadn't really made much progress so I made up a lie. The thing is he remembers my face so i either have to make the movie or i can't go to gamestop ever again.

I was just thinking about this. You could do that Predator effect on a not-glass sword, which would get around the whole "impossible to make" problem...

I've lots of failed ideas, but I'm in the proces of reworking them all, so one day I might actually have a good, useable idea.

We actually filmed a bit of this one. Problem was, it took us 3 months to film the first line of script "Scene opens on a chase."
There were script problems from day-1, and we were shooting on crappy cameras and film and had NO budget.
We even got Bruce Campbell and Matthew Good (from the Matt Good band) to do plugs for the trailer.

This was the synopsis:

Two cops in the 70's (Steve and McLoud) get his with a radioactive clock sent back in time from the future. It has been sent by an evil entity named "The Timemiester" and his slave boy, Ixor, to bring two people into the future and kill them in order to change the future and make him the ruler of mankind. But something goes wrong with his plans and instead of directly warping into his future, the two cops and the friends they pick up along the way end up warping randomly through time, amassing the knowledge and skills for the final conflict in... THE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE FUTURE.

Trust me- it's gonna get made. Once we get some money and credentials, I'll rewrite the script and it will be the best movie ever. I still can't believe we got Bruce Campbell and Matt Good to plug it and then didn't finish it!!!
