I've never heard of it, nor do I know who Steve is. Care to elaborate on anything?

Its a reality show on FOX, the episode just ended. This girl(randi) and a guy(steve) have to convince there families that they went on a reality show and are getting married in 12 days or something like that. Its for 500000 dollars for each of them. They have to convince their families that they are getting married, get all family members to come, and have no objections at the wedding. What Randi doesnt know is that Steve is just acting, and is set out to annoy the hell out of randi and make randis family not want to wedding to go on.

No offense, but I hate reality shows with a passion. It really shows how deprived people are if they get entertainment from crap like that. Basically the actors go on tv and make fools of theirselves to make a lot of money, but then the network makes it sound like they're lying to the actors, but you know that it's really all scripted.

And that last sentence was not meant to start up a debate. smile

I agree that reality shows are going over the top and are getting dumb, but I find this one funny.

They can't just go up and say, "We're getting married" and leave? End of show. I guess they had to figure out ways to make it last a season. Do they have to play stupid games or something?

Randy is a hot blonde.

Steve is a BIG guy - not the greatest looking either. definately NOT somone randi would go for.

Steve is the actor - the girl has really stuck up parents etc. And steve acts like a total idiot. She has to get her parents to approve of this guy. Her parents are NOT people that are like, well if you think its good.... kinda thing...

its a funnny show

there you go:

FOX “ALTARS” THE ULTIMATE PRACTICAL JOKE
WITH NEW UNSCRIPTED SERIES “MY BIG FAT OBNOXIOUS FIANCÉ”
PREMIERING JANUARY 19
Claudia DiFolco Will Host

After months of ordinary TV weddings, the real fun is just beginning when FOX rings the wedding bells to sound off the ultimate practical joke on MY BIG FAT OBNOXIOUS FIANCÉ. In this unscripted series, a beautiful “bride-to-be” introduces the most horrific “fiancé” to her family and friends when she announces her shocking and surprising wedding plans to them in the series premiere Monday, January 19, 2004 following the premiere of American Idol on FOX.

Over six episodes, Steve, the big fat obnoxious “Prince-not-so-Charming” and his obnoxious “family” will test the limits of his recently engaged girlfriend’s family and friends through shocking behavior. Our “bride,” Randi, a 23-year-old first grade teacher from Scottsdale, Ariz., must make it all the way through the wedding ceremony and final “I do’s” in order to win a million dollars.

This hybrid of a scripted and reality series will cover all the wedding events leading up to a climactic ceremony, including the engagement party, the wedding planner visits, the best friends and family introductions, the bridal shower, the rehearsal dinner and the walk down the aisle – all within the framework of the world’s biggest practical joke.

But the joke is also on Randi, because she thinks that Steve is also a reality show contestant duping his family into believing the same charade. In actuality, Steve and his TV family are professional actors, putting their improv skills to the ultimate test.

Claudia DiFolco most recently hosted FOX’s “Anything for Love.” From 1999 to 2002, Difolco was the host of “Sturgis: Born to be Wild” and a TV entertainment reporter in Phoenix.

MY BIG FAT OBNOXIOUS FIANCÉ is produced by Rocket Science Laboratories. Jean-Michel Michenaud and Chris Cowan serve as executive producers. Ray Guiliani is the co-executive producer.

You know in the ads where it shows the dad standing up, looking like hes rejecting to the wedding? I think thats trick editing. Maybe hes just standing up to congradulate Randi or something.

Guys, seriously, since when have you seen any American show with an unhappy ending???

As much as they claim it's unscripted and such...

I remember Temptation Island which was the big deal a couple of years back. I never watched the show. I knew they'd all stay together because that's what the producers think the audience want to hear - otherwise, the ratings will go down! But until they live happily ever after, they must go through all kinds of problems to keep you interested. It's like that in any stories.

Same crap here... They tease you, make you believe, whatever... In the end, it's always an happy ending. There may be a twist, whatever... Reality shows or fiction, it'll end in a mutually agreable way so the audience isn't shocked.

I hear you man. I hate em' preps too! They are taking over the world, no really, I'm serious. They are everywhere! Stuck up, whiny, stupid, ugly (exept some of them (girls)! I can not stand it!

We need to rise. What is the opposite of prep? Punk. Good. We need to rise up. Go punks...or somebody.

Yup...having moved to LA I have discovered that the TV networks LOVE reality TV.. they are EVERYWHERE. My wife likes 'Americas top model' and I an struck on 'The Aprentice'. The rest of them, survivor, celebrity survivor...they're crap but the Surreal life is amusiong. Watching Ron Jeremy and Vanilla ice perform for minors was somewhat amusing !!!
