Hello everyone, thanks for taking the time to find out more about our new movie coming out called Career in Crime. Before I begin let me explain that this movie will be the longest movie on this site, about the length of a full feature movie. Possibly about an hour and half long or so. As of right now (Feb 16th, 2004) we have just begun the movie yesterday, however we should be done with the movie in about a month, and the editing soon after that. Although this will be the first movie I have entered into the site, I have been making movies for six years now and we will enter this movie for the first time. For a little background on the movie try to think of a film that crams Goodfellas, Road to Perdition and HEAT all into one film and you have our mob epic that we will create for you. The basic plot goes like this... Tommy, the main character of the movie is your average joe who isn't going anywhere in life, however isn't falling behind anyone else as well. Tommy isn't a murderer, however doesn't have any remorse. One ordinary day as Tommy is going about his business a couple of italian mobsters rush over to Tommy driving past the italians position. In a hurry, one of the italians pulls out a pistol, flagging Tommy down and ordering him to let both himself and his partner into the car and drive them to safety. After Tommy safely drives the goons away, Paulie (one of the thugs) offers Tommy a chance to come work for the Don.
Tommy takes him up on his offer and for several weeks everything seems to go smoothly, until he crosses path with some Irish gangsters, who also bring him under they're wing. It also just so happens that in this town, the Irish and Italians have a bitter passion of hatred for each other, and with Tommy working side by side with both enemy mobs, what is he to do? On a side note, drugdealers, junkies and lonesharks parade this town as well causing both mobs distress, and therefore sending Tommy in to not only eliminate the side problems, but the Italians and/or Irish as well. Will Tommy choose a side or wait out his problems like a rat in hole? And just remember, if the sex, drugs, crime and greed don't corrupt Tommy, than one of his opposers sure will.

Dear god man, use some line breaks!
On another note. A movie that you do in a month, the length of proper movie, is not going to be good. Nothing you ever say can possible convince me that it'll be any good.

Your movie sounds interesting but ambitious. I look forward to seeing it.
But (I may be wrong) you're being a bit optimistic that you'll complete the film in just over a month. An average film involves shooting a lot more footage than you actually use (though I suppose this is less in the amateur sector), & editing itself will be a laborious process.
Good luck & hope to see it soon

I'll be impressed if you can shoot it all and have it good in a month. Also there's already films longer than an hour and a half on this site.
But yeah it sounds like it could be great. Good luck.

Yes my friends and I are experianced filmmakers and since we still are in school and have a good amount of breaks coming up, it leaves us plenty of time. Were shooting today in fact.

I shot Power Corps in 13 days. It lasts 90 minutes. Jury is still out if it'll be bad or not but it can be done.
I disagree with you Xcession. I've seen quite a bit of good movies shot in a short time.

Your movie sounds a LOT like a pc game I've played!

Post 22 of 44
Are you making a movie on the game?

Post 23 of 44
The description is similiar to that of the game MAFIA, however you will see that it is quite diffrent when it is released. It is a mob based movie so it will share some characteristics of mob type movies and games. But you can't really help that.
-I am also a part of the production of this movie, so I can speak for the rest of the group on this matter.

will you submitt this in small segments ? (kinda like "Monster Bytes" by Tarn or even "Lord of the rings")

Post 25 of 44
since you've already stated tht you want to make a movie based off of goodfellas and other mob movies, you should at least stray from using the exact same names as goodfellas' main characters (Tommy, Paulie).

....and the multiple user name thing, drop it, no one's buying it.
it's just BS, plain and simple.

lol no dude its not. Its a very serious mob movie based on a segment of a well-respected hitman's life, who works for two opposing mobs within one city. The action is very thorough and planned. The acting is also (so far) pretty top notch for any of our movies in the past. You'll just have to wait and see when it comes out. By the way, the movie will first come out as a whole feature, and perhaps at a later time in segments.

Movieguy- did any of your inspiration come from "A Fistful of Dollars?" I ask because the plots are very similiar.
I'm interested to see how your movie turns out. Good luck

Hi all, its Movieguy replying from a school computer. No I , nor any of my friends have ever seen "A Fistful of Dollars", however our movie is definitley has been inspired by several crime epics. Our story has been changed around, and the movie is somewhat diffrent from my first introduction post, however, the main storyline remains the same. We are about halfway through thus far with the movie and editing, and it is coming along BEAUTIFULLY. I could not be more impressed with it so far. The action is superb and the acting is very well done as well. We even kept the realistic aspect of inaudible talking while shooting, for you really wouldn't hear talking during gun battles anyway. Thank you for your dedication and interest in Career in Crime. I assure you, it will all be worth it when I'm through.

We have had to shoot Face to Face in 11 days, and it lasts 90 minutes. It is possible indeed.
(But until you exceed 98, yours will not be the longest movie here... HEHE)

Yes we have decided to shorten the project down to probably an hour, an hour and 10 minutes. Not because it cannot be done to make a hour and a half long movie, but we just have come to the conclusion that stretching the movie any longer than it HAS to be is unnecessary. The movie is already 29 minutes and 33 seconds long, and we've been on the movie for 2 weeks. So to 'excession' who seemed it to be impossible for my friends and I to make a long movie in a short period of time, I have to say your wrong.

If I ever end up making the Batman film I'm writing, I'm imagining it'll be about and hour thirty. Which is insane for me. So I doubt it'll ever get made...

Road to Perdition and Heat are to of my favorite movies. If this film involves the element of both, I will enjoy seeing this movie. It sound like it has a mafia twist to it, so it should pertain to a wide audience. Good Luck.

Gangsta2, HEAT and Road to Perdition are my favorite movies to, if you like those two movies, you'll LOVE Career in Crime, for it mixes both movies very well, along with some other movies like Goodfellas. My character in the movie (Sal Coppolino) relates to Jimmy from Goodfellas and Neil from HEAT in many ways. Anyways, The movie is coming along very well and we have about 40 minutes so far of solid footage so far. We will keep you posted.
By the way, I have created a trailer for the first half hour of the movie, if anyone is interested in me posting it, please reply.
