I just pulled my new MacAddict (March 2002) out of the mailbox, and the included CD has on it: "AlamDV 1.0-full version!" There is a brief write-up on it in the "The Disc" feature, with a picture, and they use it (along with Commotion) in a video fx tutorial!

Hopefully now a bunch more people will try it and check out the site, and buy version 2 huh?

It says:

If you've got a DV camera and some editing software, you're halfway to Hollywood. Luckily for you, the folks at CSB Digital are giving away their awesome special effects software, AlamDV, to MacAddict readers for free-yes we said free! Create realistic gunfire, stage Star Wars-esque light-saber duels, and conjure up other laser effects with this easy to use app. The software on the Disc is a demo; the read-me tells you how to get your free registration code to unlock the full-fledged product.

And then there is a screen shot of a guy with two lightswords.

In the tutorial, they just use it to add some muzzle flashes to gunfire. The disc also has the video files used in the tutorial, so people can follow along and re-create the little movie that the MacAddict staff made.

Looks like they included a little smoke clip and some flame. I'll have to check it out, and see if they can be made into plug-ins.

I'm afraid not, Great One. All the pictures from AlamDV are of members of the MacAddict staff.

Hi
my buddy just called and said that there was a huge 4 or 5 page write up in the March issue of MacAddict magazine...I'm off to their site to see if it's mentioned there as well
