haha yesterday me and my friends were making a counterstrike based movie. we did it in a huge garage. in the middle of the fight 5 real cops came with a huge car and surrounded us with their guns haha. beacuse an old an called them and said that there was 4 masked men with weapons in a garage haha smile it was pretty funny. but we were scared beacuse one cop pointed a loaded gun on my friends head razz. so if you wanna do a movie on a public area so put some big sign somewere to tell other people that its a movie and not a robbery or something razz

Hmm - I always thought that it would be an easy way to avoid unwanted police attention if you were acctually doing a real crime, to have lots of signs saying "filming in progress" or something, and had someone follow you round with a camera and a boom mic as you robbed a bank or something....

There could be a film in that somewhere you know smile

Amusing though the story is, it could have quite easily gone another way, and isn't something to be taken lightly.

Always be responsible when shooting this kind of scene - if you're doing it in a public place, or in sight of the public, contact the police beforehand, let them know when you're doing it and find out the proper way of doing things.

Sorry to be the party pooper, but the last thing we want to see is the body of a kid on the six o'clock news. Not to mention the fact that the police were occupied with this when they should have been out elsewhere.

Yeah this can actually be very dangerous. As they said use maybe a noticable sign but contact your local police station for if some report something they can just say "oh that's just some guys doing a movie set".

Last year two of my friends were making a war documentary for History class and they ran accross a busy highway with just paint ball guns and the cops swung by and had to check them and make sure they weren't loaded than everything was fine.

Just be careful though...sure you can get a good laugh out of it in the end although this can be "very" dangerous.

I wonder if real criminals have tried putting signs up during bank robberies, 'Film Being Made, Please Remain Calm' biggrin

If there happen to be such criminals on here, let me know if it works...

they ran accross a busy highway with just paint ball guns
And they did that because? Honestly, with those ideas they deserved to get shot.

Seriously guys, although it may seem funny to look back on.. it coulda ended up a very different story. Listen to what Tarn has said above and let the police know and take all precautions you can to show people you are filming - Another good idea is to call upon the local residents if you are filming near households and let them know you are filming nearby.

My dad owned a shotgun but last year the police had a 'get weapons of the street' campaign and you could go and hand in any weapons.

My brother took it to the local policestation and had no questions asked he handed in a rather large shotgun.

I always make sure to call the police and talk to thoose who own the place before filmning, swedish people call the police if they see a cow, so do that you to boffa. especielly if you shot in a garage. When I filmed my CS film in a garage I put up signs everywhere where it said "we are filming".
so next time boffa, call the police and the ownors, there isn't hard to get promition!
