This is a horror film I made with my brother recently. It is a killer movie that I think came out pretty good. Most of the things in this I am really proud of. I think this is the best movie I have put on this site. Tell me what you think. All feedback and suggestions are more than welcome.

Enjoy!

Oh, and sorry about the bad quality. It got rejected at first, and Im not on my normal computer. I recompressed a compressed file which didnt go so well. Ill put up a better quality one next week.

That's quite good.

Most of your shots were well done, you obviously used a tripod which is good.

The handheld shots, though, could have done with being less shaky.

With the falling down shot you could have made it a lot more realistic by having the keyed figure actually move downwards (pretty easy to do in Chromanator or Premiere).

Last comment is for the actual plot. You created tension well with the images so you weren't too reliant on the music (though this could have been less used). But next time, try going for something more original & more scary than someone with a Scream mask on. That kind of ruined it for me.

Still, your efforts deserve a 3 in my opinion

Pretty good actully. How old are you guys?
I did got a bit of shocked when I saw the scream guy at the first time!
The music felt a bit to loud, more soundeffects, creeking doors and stuff would have been nice...

Good angles, more clouseup would have been nice though...
And that fall at the end, his cloths was to dark, I thought it was the scream guy that fell down first!
Keep em comming smile

The falling is the one thing which I wasnt proud of. Ill learn from it though and move on. My brother was waving his arms on the greenscreen with the same clothes, but my camera picked the light up different, making the clothes black looking. I saw it looking better in my head than it did in the final cut. I did animate it, but it looked bad when I kept it going. Thats why a did the cut to him down. Thanks for your comments. And o yeah, I'm 13 and my brother is 10.

I really enjoyed this Brettsta, good stuff. As has been said, the balcony-fall let it down, which was a shame. However, the tension built very nicely, and the cinematography and editing was very good - certainly a lot better than I would expect from someone your age who is just starting out (and I don't mean that in a bad way!).

The sound mix could have been a little more subtle, maybe witih some more sounds and the music a little quieter at times - although the music choice was good. It was a relief not to hear the usual cliched tunes from the recent Popular Films.

The next version of Chromanator has more grading tools, which would have given you a chance to fiddle with the balcony fall shot, to make him match up with his surroundings more.

Anyway, good stuff - I look forward to what you do next.

Awsome work Brettsta! That was very entertaining!! I didn't think the music was too loud, I think that it was good. That is one awsome house your shooting in, it looks awsome... looks like something i would like to be in. The beggining start with the titles, i liked, it was so simple, but cool.

A 5, deff.

Thanks Tarn and Andrew. The house is really cool. Its a whole lot bigger than it looks on camera. Its my uncles, and the winding stairs are just great for movies and stuff. I love it. The house inspired me to make the movie wink. Tarn, thanks for the comments. It means a lot coming from you.

Now, back to March Madness and I gotta sleep smile Its almost midnight here

Good stuff here.
The first part where the killer appears is extremely good and the first kill had a great build up and climax.
Also, a very nice location that gives off a certain creepy feel, I think the shadow on the staircase was very sorcerers apprentice smile

You're getting a 4 from me, and I'm looking forwards to your next work.

Hey, that was pretty good, i liked the head chopped off but you could have made the head spin more. But the blood looked kinda cheesy. On the fall just make you move, it looked fake becasue you didnt move much. Good suspense, ive been making lots of slasher movies and none of them have got up to a 4, lol, nice work!

Thanks.

About the head chopped off- I didnt know how to use fake blood on set for that effect because I used garbage mattes. Even If I used green around my head, I would of had the same prediciment. I know it looks a little fake, but its the best a can do in that situation. I like your slasher movies jessy. Thats what you're known for here wink

If anyone has any ideas on how to do the head chop method with good looking blood PM me. smile

Here is something that i noticed.

In your thumbnail, it shows the head chop - in b&w. It looks REALLY cool in black and white.

When I made the thumbnail, I was thinking, maybe I should've made the actual movie b&w. I left it how it was though. B&w probably wouldve made a scarier feel, more suspense, and make the blood not as fake. Maybe..

hmmm
maybe less footage with the actual killer to make it more... scary and thought provoking
to make it scarier
u might want to have it so that when ure moving the camera, u dont expect to see the bad guy... if u know what i mean

but gj

This was done pretty well. Certainly better than me at 13. Most of my gripes are the same as others have said, mostly with the music being too loud. Also, "Fin" isn't in my opinion a good way to end a supenseful movie.

However, nice editing, and the music helped the mood. I also thought the head cut off was done well, it was quick enough so that it didn't look fake. I look forward to your future movies. smile

Thanks. The head chop off was fairly easy, but became a nightmare because of the light change throughout those few seconds when the head gets chopped off. I did some massive color correcting in chromanator to hide it up.

And Fin. Well, its kinda become a tradition to put that at the end of my movies wink. My brother did it when he took media class, and im doing it now smile How else should I have ended it>?

I don't know. Maybe just a fade out to black. Really, it wasn't a big issue, and would never be for smaller movies.

Next to the pool table room, there is a gym room, and a pingpong table too. Not to mention that outside by that balcony area there is a pool there, and a pond, and a tennis court being built smile

Alright, I really didn't like this at all. The only reason i have come to watch this was because Brettsta gave one of my movies a one, as he did for another one of mine. Anyways I watched this, and I watched "break in" as well...Brettsta I am not here to hold a grudge but to be honest lol bro you have no right saying anything about my movie. I can tell your right now the pizza guy is a lot better than this or break in, and not just because it is mine too. I could not stop laughing in break in when the skinny kid is getting gloves on and getting a pistol...how corny is that, plus the fact that hes sleeping with a snow hat on, than ATTEMPTS to like pull a max payne and slide across the floor. Death Chain was your typical horror movie which in my opinion was boring. Plus the head cut off thing was not convincing at all. What I am trying to point out here is basically, I've been tracking over some of your posts here and there. You seem to think your something your not. Please do not go around posting like you know everything or your too good to consider other aspects of people's work. Its not going to get you anywhere smile

First of all:

When someone gives you a vote, you dont return it automatically with a mutual one. The Break In I took off the site and for a reason. It was a movie I made to test AlamDV when I got it. Why the hell you are going back to it when this movie isnt about it I dont know. I think this movie is good, my opinion, and everyone elses but you. The Pizza Guy isnt better, as you can tell from the ratings of both of our movies. You dont have to make fun of my brother either! What are you thinking. And I have every right to say stuff about your movies. You go out, do a head chop off, make a horror movie. Guarantee you cant do it better. I post what I know, dont critize me for knowing stuff. I learn new stuff everyday here. Now back off and dont talk. Enough said.

Edit: I gave you a 1. There are worse votes in there. You even said:

You'll ether love or hate this one.
You did it all in one day with not that much effort, so dont expect it to be something unbelieveable.

movieguy5 wrote:

lol?? honest lol movieguy, if your gonna critize my movies, this one, not past ones, you dont have to critize me and my brother personally. Sorry you dont like when people take an effort to make movies and dont just fool around (pizza boy).

Ok brettsta, our movie WOULD be ahead of yours had it not of been for your vote. So far the MAJORITY likes the movie and gave it a 4. Your one of the reasons why it is not as good as it can be. Also, you for some reason seem to believe I am making fun of your brother? Why because I referred to him as skinny? He is the skinnier one out of the two of you so I am referring to him in that light...i don't know your names. When I also commented on him putting the gloves on and what not I am not making fun of him...I am making fun of what he is doing, don't get all personal over a word.

Without my vote it would still only be a 2.6. Good math! The majority? 2 gold users gave 4s, 1 gave a 0 i gave a 1. Seems even to me. It goes along with your statement, so you guessed right, "you will either love it or hate it."

Direct Quote- My friend you do not know the first thing about work in a movie. I know you are familiar with our movie Career in Crime. I will be posting it this week by the way. Anyway that movie took us a month and half to film and over another month to edit....more work than you have ever done in a movie I am assuming? It is 54 minutes long as well. I do not expect you to know this, but I am just clarifying your false statement.....we know what putting effort into a movie is.

Good work Brettsta,
There was tension throughout (mainly due to the music) and the bit where the "killer" is revealed for the first time actually made me jump a bit (Had you had almost silence as the guy was coming up the stairs and then a less bassy sound as the killer turned around then it would have had more of an impact.)

If you include a better plot in your next film then that'll be a big improvement. I won't dwell on the bad points as they've already been covered.

3 Stars

Rawree.

P.S Movieguy5, you say that Brettsta "Posts like he knows everything" and "Doesn't know the 1st thing about work in a movie" Yet after making one 54 minute long movie you seem quite the expert, I'm confused. crazy

Looking forward to Carrer in Crime though biggrin

Hrmm, it was good, but one thing I didn't like: for some shots, you see a wide shot with the killer hiding there until the victim comes along and gets killed... that's a very bad choice in my opinion, you should always have the opposite.

alrighty, just the fall, or the whole thing (i did some color stuff). The fall is a lil better, it goes down more, and i graded it so it is lighter. I did the best I could from what I had on my camera. I'm learning from the fall and trying to plan how to make it look better in the future.

Put the whole thing up or else it won't flow.

I notice the quality is also not to good, maybe you should try changing the quality settings before you render the movie.

Yeah i did, the only reason the quality isnt good, is because I compressed an already compressed file because the movie was rejected at first. I put in iMovie and wrote made with chromanator and alamdv etc. I edited on my pc tho, so I couldnt go back to premiere that i had been editing on.

I've seen this twice, and I can still see the picture in my head! razz Good story, nice effects! The Chromanator work was very well done, specially with the head! biggrin But when he felled down it looked a bot strange! And the Chromanator and AlamDV logos at the end was really good! wink

And AlamDV visual effects was well added! Such as the blood from the first guys body! biggrin Nicely done! So keep making movies!

A 4 from me! wink

Just came to this site and looking at all the movies, for some reason this doesnt work when I download it. Is there a reason to that or is it my comp? All the other movies on this site do.

Make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime. Try right clicking and save as and see if that works.
