I exported my project out of Alam DV to quicktime with a DV-NTSC codec and at 30 frames a second. It goes through the whole rendering schpeil, but then I go to open it and it says the file cannot be read by quicktime. Also, I checked the file and it said it contained Zero KB of info. How do I fix this?

I have the purchased version. Here's the deal:

I used Final Cut Pro 3 to edit footage.
I selected the in point and out point of the section I wanted to export, and I clicked, "Export-->To Qucktime"
I saved it as a DV stream.
I imported the clip under Alam DV 2.
I made my effects, then clicked, "Export Quicktime"
I clicked Render, left the codec on Video, and typed 30 frames per second into the little box.
It went through the process of doing what it does.
I double click the new file and it says "Could not open because this is a file Quicktime does not understand."
I checked the size of the file, and it said Zero KB

I started running Alam in Classic and everything else in X.3, then I switched to all 9.2.2 to see if it would work that way. No such luck. sad

well, first off, you might want to register your product on this website by clicking edit options at the top...

About your problem, i dont know much about dv streams, but im not sure if those will register properly in alam. try making your clips actual avi or mov files.

Also, you say the codec is "video" is that all it says? Any way, try a diferent codec with alam, that might fix it as well...

What was the extension of the file you imported into alam? To me it sounds like its .dv.

(It has to be .mov or .avi to work)

Types of files I tried exporting as:

1. Final Cut Movie

2. Quicktime - .mov

3. Quicktime - .dv

Different Codec's used:

1. MPEG-4

2. DV - NTSC

3. Video

Export from fcp as a .mov, uncompressed.

The problem is getting Alam DV to export the file. Alam reads it, and I can edit it, however, when I try to export, it doesn't work.

I have had the same thing since installing and registering ALAMdv2. Now, my quicktime files look normal on the desktop, and are not 0kb, but I get the same message ("Could not open because this is a file Quicktime does not understand"), and cannot play them in the OSX Quicktime player or the OS9 QT player...

As near as I can tell, I am doing everything as directed, and have tried different export options with different results.
