Here is our third attempt at making a mini movie - when i say mini movie i mean roughly 1 - 3 minutes in length, which our others have been. This is the first one that we have decided to post on here. It is a gun fight battle sequence which was done really just to try it out and see different ways of doing it etc. and maybe used for real in a proper movie with a story line that we will be making soon. This is only our around third or fourth time using the effects properly on alam dv so don't be too harsh with the critism and this only took us 20 minutes to make the whole movie. But me and Oli my friend are very pleased with the result i hope you are too.

Thanks

this reminds me of that short gun battle that rudy picardo did a while ago. That was really well performed and I still didn't like it. To me this is sort of a slow downed version. I don't know why, but the action seemed to go slower than it should. It may be chopiness, or it may just be you guys performing tough stunts at a speed you could manage.

Was kinda cool, but it looked a little slow, thats the only problem i found with it, and as Waser said rudy picardo did something like this, in fact pretty much just like it and it was well done and a lot faster and it had a least a bit of suspense to it because you didnt know who was gonna get in the final shot. The effects seemed a little out of place they looked weird which muzzle flash did you use, and they also seemed a little small, some people like small muzzle flashes i think they look weird myself. Other then that it was good, do it again, but make it faster and make the effects look at little better and you'll have yourself a nice little action sequence there.

A poor clone of a previous cinema submission.

Sorry, just this wasn't even convincing fighting for no reason.

stop with this kind of fight sequences. Fighting with a gun like this is ridiculous, I didn't like the previous one too. just plain stupid, though I think it's not bad performed.

I'll give it to you for effort, but it was weak. Editing was choppy; fight moves were weird and seemingly pointless.
People need to go shoot a gun and find out what you can and cannot do. Some (if not most) of this stuff you cannot do with a real gun. There are a lot of movies here and other places that do things with guns that you could never do in real life.

"Write a concept, put it to work, test it, confirm its something you want to release as YOURS, then put some effort into making it Perfect!"
That’s the way I do it, and the people I work with.

Personally i thought all that critism was harsh. I said we are new to this sorta stuff, this is one of out first movies ever made so we are still experimenting and we are not going for a blockbuster hit moive so we aint geting it perfect. Plus this was a test movie, it wasn't something we expected to look totally awesome, it was just trsting out things to do for future movies.

"Write a concept, put it to work, test it, confirm its something you want to release as YOURS, then put some effort into making it Perfect!"

We were not trying to make it perfect, this was not like a real movie release .. it was a T-E-S-T. Not too hard to understand?

Overally i fought harsh comments

You're going to have to get used to this critism when you submit things. After all, thats why you submit things here anyway, to hear what people think. Take the critism and try to apply it to your future movies.

That kind of response is intolerable in these forums, I think everyone'd agree.

Oh, & "critism" is actually spelt c-r-i-t-i-c-i-s-m: criticism. to criticise. a critic.

EDIT:

Seen now. Was okay. As said, too similar to Equilibrium but vastly inferior.

Your choreography impressed me at first, but your hands kept on doing the same things over and over. You need a bit of change.

The gun sliding shot looked wrong visually. You need to think where the action is and where the logical place is to place the camera.

Still good enough to get a 3, though, in my opinion.

Don't over-react to CRITICISM. Everyone gets it, it's the only way you'll learn to get better and look at your films from the eyes of a viewer. No VIP treatment for newbies.

they were just testing. They copied off of it because it was cool and they wanted to make something like it becasue it set a good example. Tons of movies here and everywhere copy off of others. Its not their intention to steal someone's idea and make 500 million dollars off it. It was just a test. Lighten up.

Theres a lot of Star Wars "copies" and matrix ones. Thats not a bad thing. Its called fan films or getting inspired by a movie. Its a fun thing to do and you shouldnt be harsh towards people who want to try cool stuff they saw at the cinema. Theres no need to say why do this poorly. You show us better if you're so good. People try things and learn from error. You dont have to call them things and do harsh, unhelpful critism.

Guys, guys, chill. There's been too many OTT quarrels on here recently & they're leaving a bad taste in my mouth. There's no need for anyone to criticise a film severely, with foul language & without giving any explanation. If you don't like something, explain why, but politely. Ya hear me?!

That was ok, started good in the beginning, but dragged on wayyyy too long. That couldve been made into a solid 30 -45 seconds. Also, there was the occasional stills thrown in which looked a little weird.

Now back to Hobbits movie...
