When Chromanator prompts me to temporarily render and I click render
I get an error message- Cant get PICT from DIB(QT).
Is this a QuickTime problem. My render settings are uncompressed AVI,
OpenGL.

are you using only quicktime? Sounds like there might be a picture in there... What exactly are you doing and what clips are you using?

I am using 2 avi files in the timeline, I choose 1 and make some changes in the Object view. When I am finished I go to the Project view but I
cannot render, I get the same message each time.

Have you tried importing the clips and just rendering out using QuickTime (no temp rendering), does this produce the same error?

If so what clips are you using, you said AVI but what dimensions are they and what compression codec? I havn't come across this problem before, so the more information you can give can help me track the problem down. Also could you tell me about your system, such as what operating system, quicktime version etc...

As I know of no other users with this problem I suggest you uninstall QuickTime then install the latest version from Apple. Some system spec information could always help as well.
