Hello,

I suppose up until now, I have been a "lurker"; just floating around and getting a feel for this new environment. What a wonderful place it is..!

My first question would be (and I'll be lucky if I don't get scolded for some reason) : When is AlamDV3 for Mac OSX going to be available? I keep noticing the reccommendation that OSX users wait for v3, but it's getting difficult!

I do have Chromanator (full), and have already done some neat-o experiments with tradtional hand-drawn animation.

I attended California Institute of the Arts for animation, but switched over to live-action, after taking a basic 16mm Arifflex/Bolex course. I'm really excited about these programs, and can't wait to learn and use them to their full potential.

Additionally, me Mum is from Welling, Kent, UK... You blokes/yobbos over there familiar with that area..? I'm a Yank, but Mumsy came over to the States in '68. Still a subject of the Crown, however.

p.s. I'm currently set up with an XL1 and a PowerMac G5 single 1.8 Ghz.

Alright, so now I've spoken...

Cheers,

Actually, there is no point for you to wait to buy Alam just because DV3 is on the horizon, If you buy alamDV2 now, you will get DV3 free when it is released. It'll probly be a few more months, but at least you will have something to mess around with to tide you over smile

Welcome to FXhome. smile

We don't yet have a release date for AlamDV3, but as you can see from the latest news post we are working full steam ahead to get it finished as soon as possible. The moment we have a release date it'll be all over FXhome, trust me!

Sounds like you have some real skills and training in animation and general filmmaking, hopefully we'll see some of your work in the cinema in the future.

Oh, and I don't know Welling, but I am from Kent. razz

Okay, fair enough. However, when you go to the "BUY" area for AlamDV2, it does in state, "Mac users are advised to wait for AlamDV3". It seems to me a somewhat specific suggestion.

I do realize that I can purchase v2 now and then upgrade, but what about the above advisement?? Surely CSB would have made this clear if they felt that this applied to all (er, both) system users. What's the scoop?

I am still in high hopes that CSB Digital will release AlamDV3 for the Commodore VIC20/C64 at some point. I feel that the vast latent capabilities of these comps remain unchartered. I've been experimenting with using a four-track Tascam analogue recorder (as opposed to the standard tape drive storage device), and believe that this will solve the immense storage requirements that DV editing commands.
As far as rendering times are concerned, I think that several well-deserved holidays with the grandparents or in-laws will provide sufficient time for the processors to churn out the goods.

Sincerely,

Tarn,

Thank you immensely for your welcome..! It will take time, but I hope to eventually accomplish something using your software that will be suitable for posting!

I have this fear of redundant postings, so I will try and seek out information before I ask questions. You must understand that this is a fairly hefty base of Q & A, though, yes..? Ergo, perhaps some question is located within a nook of a nook and I may not see it...

So you're from Kent, then? I betcha if you looked at a map, you'd find Welling to be no more than 90km from your (original?) wherabouts.

Cheers!

Oh, the reason it says mac users are advised to wait is because if you are on OSX, then alamdv2 isnt designed to work in it. AlamDV3 will work in OSX completely. If you have OS9 then you don't have to worry smile
