Hi,
I have been working on a project in Alam for a while now and I have done a lot of effects in it with no problem. Today, however, a script error happened for no reason at all. I had just finished a bunch of effects and I saved my project. Then I clicked play movie to watch what i had done. A few seconds into playing, the program got a script error that said :

Property not found

#varcol

Script error: Continue?

I have never gotten this before and I have used Alam a lot and I did nothing different this time, so I know my specs are okay. Sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find anything.

Please help! Everytime I open the saved file again the same message shows up! I dont want to lose all of my work.

Thanks in advance...

Too many bugs for a program not that cheap indeed. I'm very disapointed. I just bought it and I wish I had my money back.

So you took the "Play Movie" option in ALAM? Is this the first time you used this option? If not, has it worked fine before? Did you use a plugin you have not used before? Just trying to find out a little history.

Lastly, usually things do not happen for no reason at all. If it worked before something has been currupted or changed. I would save my plugins in a new folder then reload ALAMDV2. Then move my plugins back and start ALAM up again.

Was your project file still working after the error? Are you able to "scrub" through the footage instead of taking the play option? It has been my experience that "scrubing" through works faster anyway...

Not that cheap? As compared to what? Name a program that is in the same price range that can do what ALAMDV does?

You mean a program that quits on you, fails on plugin installs, fails to render, fails to decode DV formats etc? Well, I don't think there's a program that does all these for the price range indeed. I'm happy to support new programming and young companies, don't get me wrong, but hey!, at least let me know I'm buying something its in testing and improving process. And for God's sake, give proper support all I hear is "remove your plugins folder and reinstall again". All the erros I've seen in the last 3 days are programming faults: I/0, out of range, script failures..you name them. Do you know the words "Debug, on error goto", etc?. I will be waiting for the new release, but this doesn't mean I'm a happy customer right now, I feel I'm stuck with this until who knows when.
Give us a patch for the time being!!

It's strange, then, that most of us have few problems...

I've never had any problem whatsoever, no error messages, plugin failures etc. I've also had no codec problems because I made sure I downloaded codec packs so I had most codecs.

It comes down, then, to machines & the way they're configured or install programs. CSB, like all companies, can't test out AlamDV on every setup imaginable.

Windows XP, however, has crashed many, many times for me; it's a very unstable product for the price one pays for it.

CSB do try to help as much as they can, including explicitly saying what DV codecs must be installed etc. I suspect that this is what your problem is. Search the forums again, find out what codecs you need. Check out http://fxhome.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11113 which has a link to a program that allows you to see what codecs you have on your PC.

Or check out http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/ which has many codecs plus the g-spot program which allows you to see what codecs you have installed

This is also worth downloading because it has many more codecs http://www.divx-digest.com/software/acemega_codec.html

Then get back to us if this doesn't help smile

Okay, I have always used the play movie option. I used no new plugins that i had not used before, and now i cant even open the file anymore because that error message comes right back up.

rdelavega: Alam DV2 is old and out of date. You just bought it, so you will get DV3 for free! DV3 will be much better.

Did you keep a backup of the file you were working on at all - if there were problem with your last save the file could be corrupt?

What os are you using btw. Crashes are only reported from using it on osx, and thats why it says osx users should wait till dv3. If you wanna check out the new programs styles, check out the chromanator demo. Check how alamdv3s gonna be here

I didn't keep a back up, but i was always saving so that i would not lose all of my work if the system crashed. I had just saved it before i hit play movie.

You are right. Actually I have managed to get it working most of the time now, with small clips and a bunch of new codecs. I bought a little program called video cleaner and now I can import into Studio. Thanks.

I apologise about the tangent.

As the previous poster says, reinstall Alam DV.

I've had problems with another effects program & that had loads of errors appear until I reinstalled it.

Backup your project files first, e.g. send them to My Documents.

See if that fixes the problem, if not thensearching the forums for a similar problem might be a good idea. I will have a little look myself for you.
