Hey there folks...

I have a question...

How do you guys make your action with a Lightsaber match the sounds you have on file?

I found these super cool high def, sounds from the movie, and I was thinking about making a test, just to see how it looks like on film. But, I simply have no idea how to make the two match in speed, sound and movment...

How do you guys do it???? It is really awesome...

Is there an old Jedi Master out there who can tell me how?

Thanks...

Well the sound of clashing is blindingly obvious, so i won't insult you by assuming you don't get that razz

For general swooping lightsabers, however, i think most sounds tend to get put on the apex of the swing. Thats the point at which the blade is (supposedly) moving the fastest, so i'd imagine that was the place where any sound might be emitted from the blade.

Other than this, you've got to match pitch of sound, with speed of blade. Again, obvious rules apply.

Coupled with speed, you've also just got to vary it a little for the sake of realism. If you've got a rich variety of sounds to use, just make sure that no two swings sound the same, unless the swordsman's 'move' is a repeating one (like a figure-of-8 deflection kinda thing).
