If you haven't been on my website for a while (or ever) you can see there is a new design up....
I just wan't to hear what you think for I'm prolly gonna leave the sitedesign for a while and add more tutorials and stuff.

And one more thing, how is it on 56k?

here is the URL:
http://www.ajpictures.se

(PS. the Iframes with the GB and News can be a bit slow at start, keep that in mind)

It looks okay but it's let down by weak grammar and appalling spelling - "amature" for "amateur", for example. Get someone to proof read it.

Very nice!

There, take a screanshot - xcession likes someone elses site razz

I do have a few pointers tho...

1. Cross-browser support - you're using some rather suspect tabling, which only works on IE. In mozilla (the browser of choice for many professionals) and therefore probably Konqueror and Safari too...the tables look like this:

[/img]

[try to ignore the low colour depth, i wanted the file small!]

If you want borders to look good in all browsers, use a stylesheet instead.

2. Section definition - its not immediately obvious which section i'm in while i'm browsing about. This is really two points in one: the second half of which is the size of your "movies" and "test" title images, used at the top of each file. If you were to enlarge that wording considerably, and put it at the top of the page just once, it would ensure that when you get to the page, you know where you are. At their current size, the title graphics are kinda dwarfed by the rest of the site.

I'm sure its still a work in progress, so keep with it smile

[EDIT doh, pressed submit before i meant to]

3. Frameset - frames are generally bad. I know they mean you get cool scrolling and stuff, and "ooh, look how the navigation stays where it is?!" but its generall bad. Search engines have extreme trouble spidering a site with frames, and they are bad for cross platform/browser issues and accessible access for those with disabilities.

I know why you're using frames: its coz you don't have to edit 50 files if you change a bit of the surrounding navigation. However if your server supports any kind of server-side scripting, or server-side includes, i'd use them instead.

oh darn I haven't looked at my site with Mozilla in ages. the bottom of it lucks just riduculous,
It's so typical with dreamweaver, always worked with most browsers when you did it all in notepad!

I never thought of that Section definition thingy,
good pointers all of them!

Thanks Xcession cool

EDIT: one thing though, what resultion is that printscreen taken in?

Front page:

AJ Pictures is a Sweden-based amatuer film company mainly run by Andreas Jendin, who built this site and makes the movies you see here. He does most things in the production of his movies, bar acting!

AJ Pictures has been online for about 2 years at various URLs but will always be found here now.

Here you will find everything an online film-site should contain - Movies, of course, and Behind the Scenes, Tutorials, Tips & Trix. Better still, it will always updated. Enjoy your stay!

Equipment:

Cameras:
Using the 3CCD CanonXL1s and the Panasonic NV-DA1, both utilising MiniDV tapes, AJ Pictures can bring you great quality picture, sound and a great story.

The XL1s is one of the best MiniDV cameras out there today, being extremely powerful with manual settings, interchangeable lenses, zoom etc. Read more about it here

Adobe has a leading position with editing, special effects, sound and
digital imaging programs - they sure know their stuff! Adobe Premiere 6.0, Adobe After Effects 5.5 Production Bundle & Adobe Photoshop 7.01 are the programs I usually work with, though I also use Cinema 4D and some other graphic and sound programs.

No problemo...now to attack Sollthar's site... confused heh

Nice site btw, although I'm not a big fan of grey. I think the left bar is really great, with your outline, though. Do try viewing it with different internet software

Hmm, are you preloading your images correctly? It doesn't seem like your code for preloading them is working.

Also, I think you should move the main table a little down so you can see the top border. It seems a little cut-off if you know what I mean.

Other than that, great site!

In my country that's the correct spelling.

Doesn't really matter though. "utilising" is the British spelling, "utilizing" is the American way.

Also, industrialisation>industrialization, civilisation>civilization...

It should work, although I belive there is something wrong with my small Iframes on the startpage, they seem to slow down the images somehow.

Yeah, the table should just be over the whole site so you should have a main scroll on the side, still trying to get that to work perfect.

thanks smile

It may be the american way, but I don't like using 'z' in words like that. I've always spelled things the european way for some reason. Putting z in seems silly to me...

Oh, I seriously though Mel had something against me wink

Anyways, about the preloading code, the images still have to be downloaded when moving the mouse pointer over them. I tried this a couple of time with temp files deleted and still they had to load.

Okay, now the preload thing is working. I think the problem was me! I was checking your site out on my school's computers. They work fine when I check it out at home.
