Hey guys,

When I try to import a AVI file into the demo, a window pops up saying,

"The movie you are trying to import uses a codec that does not support Video for Windows (probably the Microsoft DV Codec). Visit the AlamDV2 Support and FAQ forum for more info and on where you can download a better DV codec"

My question to you is: Is all I have to do is download some sort of codec? If so, does anyone know where I go about getting it from? THANKS!!

Use the Matrox DV codec instead of the Microsoft DV codec. Just remember to change the codec in the editing program you are using before exporting the video. smile

I think this is where you can download it.

I should also point out that AlamDV3 will not have this problem.

What editor are you using to import your footage on to your computer?

Also, since I read that the audio goes once you add in effects...what editor would you guys recommend that's not too pricey but allows for separate audio/video tracks (what I mean is that you can divide the audio from the video and they aren't a packaged deal like they are in my editor. With pinnacle, if you delete the video, you delete the audio. I don't like this.)

Actually, this isn't an editor, but you can add your audio back in with Virtual Dub: http://virtualdub.org/ It's a pretty nifty little tool. smile
