The Predator's Back!
This is a short preview/test video for my future film "Predator 3." Nearly all the filming was done by myself in a day, but it took some time to edit. Hope you all enjoy it! wink

I liked this, it was pretty cool. When you had that long shooting part when you fired in random directions, add smoke effects, and add light flashes when you fire! Especially in a dark house like that in the scene, fire from and m16 would light that place up like christmas. It was still good.

I forgot to add I didnt like the bullet time effect and I dont recommend you have bullet time in a predator movie, but do what you want. Just make sure it looks good.

i hope when you actually make the movie , you have a 3d predator in it instead of a picture of him, and i hope you have a better camera (hardly could tell what was goin on half the time)...and please dont use the alamdv explosions in your movie like that unless you really make them look good...every explosion in that looked horrific...if it doesnt look good, why do u put it in? i dont understand that, alot of people on this site just throw explosions on their footage and it looks ridiculous..dont they have common sense? but at least your out there tryin to make movies, so keep working with movies and i hope you dont get offended by my comments, but take it as good advice

Good angles.
Good music

Bad Predator (2d that didnt move at all.)
Most effects need work: machine gun looked like it had one muzzle flash for every 10 bullets it shot, bullet time was unnecessary and looked bad in this film, some of the bullet hit "sparks" were pretty good.

The film was kinda dark as well.

Just keep trying and working on the lighting ect and im sure the final will be worth watching. keep it up.

I felt that overall, this was pretty good. It didn't work as a trailer for me, as the editing wasn't as quick as I would have prefered.

The effects were pretty good, but as has been noted, the Predator would be better as a person in a costume or a 3D model.

I *really* liked the slash marks at the end for "Predator III" - nice touch smile

I look forward to seeing the whole film smile

Cheers,
Arktic.

Now to the movie:

-Contrary to what others may say, I liked the 2D predator. I didn't know it was 2D until I read the posts.....Okay, I DID know that it was 2D from the moment I saw it, but it wasn't THAT noticable. (To someone who doesn't make films)

-Effects were good. Bullet time sucked. I could tell you had a guy holding the camera and turning it.

-Your sound f/x sucked (e.g. the howling wind during the bullet time, the ten gun shot noises per one muzzle flash)

-Lighting: Horrible. Nothing more needs to be said.

-Camera angles....okay...needs much quicker, more concise editing.

-On a final note, whatever camera you wre shooting on either was a cheap webcam, the settings on it were wrong, or it just generaly sucked. That's it.

Good job, could be better.

nice use of the 3d bullet plugin wink

Not bad for doing it on your own, I was going to moan a say that the shots were too long for a trailer, but re-reading your post says test / preview.
Because it's a test and you was on your own i have to commend you, the only thing i would say is tighter cuts or more angles.

well done

Yuck, yuck, yuck! If you couldn't tell the Predator was a 2d picture, it's time to get some specs!

My only advice, apart from the obvious would be to add clever lighting. Like when an explosion (eugh) hits - have someone flash a light in the background to light up the hallway, etc.

This movie was not so bad, but the Predator alian image was 2d and very bad. Although the bullet at the end was pretty good, and I understood that with the slash (should look like a 3) but some people would not see what that was. Just my opinion though.

I thought this looked pretty cool actually. I don't care if the predator is 2D, it's as close to the real thing as you're gonna get. Can't wait to see the finished product.

What, you can't make one? It's really not that hard to do. Check Ebay for a brilliant mask. The rest is fairly simple. You just need to put in the time and effort.

Hey, neat, I didn't know you could buy predator masks. But we don't know what his alternatives were. They could have been worse, even though I don't think the 2D looks that bad.

Thanks, everyone, for all your comments, suggestions, and advice. At the time when I made this video, I was really excited to make my Predator film. I was extremely hard-pressed for money and had not thought up too much of story, yet. However, since I knew it would be a while before I could make the movie (because I was/am busy with other projects), I just wanted to get a little preview video out to show my idea and hopefully give a little sense of the action to come. This was just a quickly-put-together preview to see what I could do with what I had at the time.
Thanks again for your comments and for watching! biggrin

As a new user to effects lab and the whole mini movie scene i see the potential in evrything, isee the use of a 2d image rather than an actor as resourceful, rather than lame, i thought the cloaking effect was exccellent,
it was mabye a little too dark, but as i recall pred 2 was very dark so your on the right lines, mabye a few atmospheric light sorces would have helped, in regards to the bullet time, i would just like to say that if your going to use a model remember to remove the caseing, as the actual bullet is only the darker bronzed tip it would add more relism to the overall effect. Quicker cuts would have made this trailer feel more tense.
if you use a cut out of the predator for your full movie perhaps only cut to it for a short time, giving people less chance to observe or notice the diffrence. apart from that i enjoyed it, i look forward to the next one. well done

You really should get a mask on ebay, makes it more realistic. The Predator being 2D really takes away from the movie, it just makes it look pathetic.
Also you should try a different muzzle fire effect, that one doesn't look good with your movie.
