We're currently in the process of preparing for our big promotional campaign which we'll launch into once AlamDV3 and DigiGrade are both released. It will be our chance to really spread the word and make the new products a success - and we need your help!

This is hugely important for the future of CSB-Digital and FXhome - the success of the promotional campaign will determine what happens next. With the huge investments we've put into the new software range, it will be the crucial moment: the continued survival of FXhome will be at stake. Failure is not an option!

Contacts are what we need. Many areas we already have covered but there are a couple of US-located categories that are proving elusive, mainly due to us being located in the UK.

US schools
Schools are a vital area. We need as much information on US schools as possible. Obviously schools with film/video-related interests are the main priority, but all high schools and colleges are useful. If you have any contact details for schools or know of a way to accumulate the data efficiently, please let us know.

If you could lay out information like this, it would be useful:

School name:
Type of school:
Website URL:
Email address:
Postal address:
State:
Additional info:

US magazines
Finding out about all the various US magazines is made rather difficult due to many of them being regional. If you guys could let us know the relevant magazines in your area we would very much appreciate it. There are several types of magazine that we're interested in:

• Movie and filmmaking
• Special effects
• Photography
• Windows PC
• Apple Mac
• Gadget
• Technology
• Music
• Sound

If you could format any information you find like this it would be useful:

Magazine name:
Website URL:
Email address:
Postal address:
State:
Additional info:

If you can't find all the information then don't worry, but obviously the more info the better.

Our big thanks in advance to everyone who can help out - we'll be giving out force points to the people that help out the most!

For UK, I reccomend that you contact DigitUK (Magazine)

http://www.digitmag.co.uk/

http://www.digitmag.co.uk/contact/

It's a mag that covers all aspects of digital creativity.
And they'd be happy to feature news about your products in their magazines.

Here's my old school, it's a middle school. They specialize in talented and gifted kids (like me!) so they're all big technology buffs. I told the technology/film department director about you guys. He seemed pretty intruiged, so hopefully this'll help.

Actually, you probably don't want the individual High School contact information. In the US, the schools are run by the district board (a locally elected board of people) who decide what curriclum is going to be taught, what books they will use, what brand of light bulbs to buy etc.... Thus, you will want to contact the school districts themselves and ask how to bid your software. I live in Minnesota, so here is a page where you can look up the contact info for any school district in Minnesota. I would imagine that most states have some kind of similar database. Good Luck -Shon

http://education.state.mn.us/html/intro_mde_analysis.htm

PS, to use their search, just click on each letter to bring up the info for that school, city or district. Start with 'A' and work on down

Here's the high school I'm going to. I don't know their website, and doubt they have one, but here is the rest of the info.

School name: Townview TAG. (One cluster of a seven cluster school. They all have different equipment.)

Type of school: Talented and Gifted Magnet school focused solely around academics, but its a public school.

Website URL: I don't know this. They might have one but so far I haven't been able to track it down.

Email address: Don't know yet. But I could find in the near future.

Postal address: 1201 E. 8th Street, 75203

State: Texas

Additional info: Rated the best school in all of the Dallas Independent School District. Macs are the only computers they use. (I have no idea why.) They do have a small filmmaking class, but a larger budget because of their prestige.

I know of two places you could probably strike here in Utah.

first is my high school, West High.

School name: West High School
Type of school: Public High School
Website URL: http://west.slc.k12.ut.us/
Email address: sarah.gale@slc.k12.ut.us (this is only the webmaster)
Postal address: 241 North 300 West, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103
State: Utah
Additional info: This school is actually pretty poor, but they are starting up a film course next year, so they may want to look into many different film applications.

now this is where I bet you could get a ton of success

School name: Spy Hop Productions
Type of school: Multimedia (Film, Web Design, etc.)
Website URL: http://www.spyhop.org/
Email address: info@spyhop.org
Postal address: Spy Hop Productions, 353 West Pierpont Avenue 200B
State: Utah
Additional info: This is the place everyone goes to in Utah for youth-film schoolin' (except for me). From what I have seen, all the films that are produced from Spy Hop are artsy, so I think they may want to see some more fun films with great effects.

EDIT here are some US magazines
Movie and Filmmaking
http://www.filmmakermagazine.com/
http://ifmagazine.com/

Special Effects
http://www.cinefex.com/home.html

Photagraphy
http://www.popphoto.com/
http://mentorseries.americanphotomag.com/

Windows PC
http://www.winnetmag.com/
http://www.pcmag.com/

Apple Mac
http://www.macaddict.com/

Gadget
Sorry, I don't know of any american Gadget magazines

Technology
Sorry, I don't know of any american Technology magazines

Sound
http://www.professional-sound.com/

And of course there's Wired, which really covers ALL of this stuff.
http://www.wired.com/wired/

if any of these magazines are not american, sorry for that, I just thought they were smile

I would HIGHLY recommend contacting many American vocational schools. Many have what they call "radio and T.V." courses that would involve software of this type. Or they have more modern interactive media labs that could involve your product as well. I am in southern Ohio, and the vocational district around here is known as "Great Oaks Joint Vocational School District. Do a web search for vocational schools in the USA and you should be able to get a bite or two on those, providing you reach the right person (you know how school organizations do thier purchasing, lol. Talk to a thousand wrong people and you get nowhere)

Also, maybe market it to inner city public schools. They have been technology shopping alot latley, anything to try to keep the kid's mind on school for a few more minutes before they head out to steal eachother's shoes;)

But if you selling to local goverment organizations, it would help to have an office located within the USA. Also, selling to private schools is MUCH easier than public. More money to go around, less people and red tape to cut before a simple purchase. Once you get in one, they pretty much talk to eachother and before you know it you will not need to do anything much but take orders.

I wish you all the best with your new product, and if there is any specific information that I might be able to give you drop me a line!

Ok, this is my high school, and before summer vacation started, I talked to my computer teacher and my video productions teacher about this cool thing called "Chromanator." They were a little interested, but since my school is really into getting the latest and greatest in the tech field, maybe I can convince them this is the way to go. biggrin

Actually, you probably don't want the individual High School contact information. In the US, the schools are run by the district board (a locally elected board of people) who decide what curriclum is going to be taught,
True, but they are probably the last people to contact. Usually the process is to first get the school principal to approve purchases (based on a request from a teacher) who then recommends to the Superintendent. Most of the time the School Board is not involved in those types of purchases.

So, FXhome needs to get the word out to teachers: Art, Video, Media specialists, and the Technology departments (who also buy lots of software, and make recommendations to teachers).

I know this because I taught school for 19 years, and was also a school technology coordinator for 5 years before I went to work for the State Department of Education in Ohio.

If you guys want, I could try and advertise your Software in Austria to our local TV station or other Film companys.
Plus if I win this Film Festival in Austria (for kids till 22) and they'll be blown away by the effects, I could say "HEY, ITS ALAM DV" and there I could help a lil'. Ill tell everybody about FXHOME.

Cheers,

Hey Guys! The URL below will put you in touch with every community college in the GREAT state of Texas! Since these schools do a lot of technical training, most of them will have TV and/or video production courses.

Visit: www.tacc.org

For Magazines I'd suggest:

Mac Design: www.macdesignonline.com -this is where I learned about AlamDV!

Videography: www.videography.com
Macworld:www.macworld.com
MacAddict: www.macaddict.com
Film & Video:www.filmandvideomagazine.com
E Media:www.emedialive.com
Computer Videomaker:www.videomaker.com

That's all I can offer right now. If I think of other good info, I'll be sure to pass along. Uh, does this qualify me for a complimentary copy of AlamDV3?

Thanks!

If you guys hadn't already thought of it. Getting in good with them would be great seeing as how they are a large network of indie filmmakers.

Plus I will be promoting the heck outta AlamDV when I wrap my feature in the next few months.

My old college. Would be definetely interested. Try and make it to the attention of the media department. They use Mac's in the edit sweet and that was where I first used Alamdv2 on a teachers laptop a few years back now.

Below are several contacts I obtained during a conference I attended recently. FXHome users may also be able to send their resumes, as these 30 listings are representatives of professional companies (instead of academia). These companies include Turner Broadcasting System, the National Basketball Association (NBA), the American Cinema Editors, and National Football League (NFL). However, I strongly advise looking up the company to be sure the company suits your needs.

Hope this helps!

You ready for this one csb!

http://search.ucas.co.uk/cgi-bin/hsrun/search/search/search.hjx;start=search.HsSearch.run?y=2005

Courses in the UK starting in 2005.
Oh yeah.. search 'film' - 1003 results.

That might help quite a bit. You could search specific courses.. say 'film and art' and get the uni's details etc.

Swing swing! smile smile smile smile

Here is the Hillsborough School District website

www.sdhc.k12.fl.us

H.B. Plant High School, which I used to attend, is very involved with the community and reaches out their hand to anyone who is in need of a service. Feel free to contact them, as they are very open to everyone.

Ah, here is a list of a about 20 magazines, most are video related and visual effects related, but all computer related. Most on video.

Some include:
  • VFX Pro
  • Videography
  • etc.
Anyways, you get the picture.

How did all of this turn out? Here's hoping CSB got what it was looking for.
