Ok, not really monkey men, but close to it. Bad music but some pretty impressive stunts.

Some of those clips are from the documentary that was on TV earlier this year. They are called free-runners and it's how they get about town.. on the rooftops. Rather mad and intense. I'd love to be able to do it.. but I fear one jump would probably shatter every bone I have left.

Still. Fun! smile

I tried it and I can jump about 7 feet down into the grass but when I tried it on cement I cant land properly and it hurts. Is there anyway to land on 2 feet without rolling that makes it not so painful?

Thanks, compliments on the drawing from ssjaaron. He is making a flash intro for my site, it'll be up soon. Oh, and don't bother him sayin' "I want a flash intro, I want a drawing!" I helped him out. I'll let you all know when the intr is done. Anyways, I won't be jumpin crazily for a while because I just got back from a football/soccer camp and got my anus worked off. I can't get off my couch and then I am leaving for the Carribean in four days, I will film a short there and get some good stock footage there for us to use.

I wouldn't advise it but there if you crumple your whole body up on the point of impact - and let everything collapse then it will help your feet/ankles absorb impact.

Still though, don't go doing it wink

one time i tried jumping downa huge flight of stairs (maybe 30?) and right before I landed I realized how much it would hurt, so I stopped myself by flapping my arms the opposite way, and flew back up the stairs. It was pretty sweet

One time I jumped off a cliff in Newquay.

I actually did it.
Cleared the rocks by amount 2cms. And as soon as I hit the water I swam down and as far as I could away from the cliffedge, and my mates thought I was a goner. About 90seconds later I resurfaced to lots of abuse.

Not doing that again.

yeah the trick is to not tense up anywhere and divert energy from gravity to somewhere else. you have to have indredibly strong legs and even stronger joints

I jumped down 15 big stairs, and MAN did it hurt. i didnt even tuck and roll, so my ankles got all the pressure. luckily, i didnt break anything. those dudes probably work out and stretch everyday for stuff like this, so i wouldnt reccomend trying this stuff right off the bat with no training.

Old post, but if you've had judo lessons, you'd have learned that the correct way to roll for this is over your arm and shoulder, not over your head.

From what I read, there are a few groups of guys that do this. The guy on the Parkour site is the founder of the free running with a few friends. I guess the other friend got in an argument so he made his own group of free running.
Here is a free running forum
http://p202.ezboard.com/burbanfreeflow

I think Parkour is the name of the sport and Yamakasi is the name of a group that does the free running
