Hey, im very new in video stuff, so i even dont know really what a DV codec is, but i do know that AlamDV2 says(when im opening a avi. file):
"The movie you are trying to import uses a codec that does not support Video for Windows (probably the Microsoft DV codec). Visit the alamDV2 Support..."

anny idea what i can do, or where i can download this codec?

thx for helping

The thing is that you have used a codec (compression method) for your movie called Microsoft DV Codec which AlamDV2 sometimes does not support. You have to select another codec when yo export your movie from your editing software. Which editing software have you got so I can easier explain it to you?

If you can, export uncompressed, then when you apply your effects in AlamDV export from there uncompressed.

If you export the files as uncompressed it should be fine.

AlamDV3 will not have this problem.

Hey Guys,

I am now getting this problem. I never used to. And it's not compressed files from a program, it's the raw files captured directly from my camera (XM2). What's going on? I have tried using Vegas 5 and Studio 9 to capture from my camera and both times I'm getting this message when I try to open them in AlamDV2. As I say, this never used to happen, so what's up?

The raw files captured from your camera still use a codec, probably a DV codec. Have you had to reinstall stuff, or perhaps uninstalled codecs or changed your system?

Studio 9 and Vegas 5 are new programs. I used to use Studio 8.

Ok, it looks as though the Pinnacle DV codec driver is missing. I've tried re-installing the software, but no good. So I assume it's defaulting to the Microsoft DV codec when capturing. How can I turn this off?

One thing I have noticed though, I appear to have LOADS of codecs, but I can't see one called "Microsoft DV codec".

PS
Where can I get a decent DV codec?
