In January 2004 i bought Chromanator, and i downloaded some updates and it's working well so far.
I thought that i had bought a complete package and if i like i can download the updates, but i saw that this software is expired on the 1st of january 2005, why is that?

You will always be able to download updates. The next update will be before 1st jan 2005 and will extend the expirey again. We do this to make sure everyone has the most up to date version of chromanator and to help prevent piracy.

OK, i understand that you like to see everybody has the latest version, but all software i buy on the internet, i burn on a CD or DVD including all files like payment mails etc to have a complete view over all my software.

When i pay for a product like software i like to use it as long as i like, maybe i don't need an update while i like the current version.
I think it is strange that the software expires.

Just a subnote so this is in the public domain;

Pirated/illegally shared versions of chromanator are tracked and have their serials locked out in future updates. So if your version refuses to work when it's updated that could by why. If you are innocent the best thing to do is contact the 'team@fxhome.com'.

I feel that your question has been pretty much answered other than that smile

You can use Chromanator for as long as you like. We just ask that you download a small update every 6 months-or-so. Chances are we will have released a new version with added features/bug fixes in that time at any rate, so it would be in your favour to download the new version.

maybe i don't need an update while i like the current version.

We would rather not have to do it ourselves. Unfortunately, piracy is rife. For a large company, piracy is an nuisance - but for a tiny company like CSB-Digital, piracy is a massive threat that could quite easily bankrupt us and destroy both the company and FXhome. Consequently, we have no option but to implement some kind of protection system.

Downloading an update every 6 months-or-so seemed like a good compromise - it locks out the pirates, without inconveniencing the honest, legitimate users like your good self.
