Hi guys. I don't know if anyof you have heard about HotOrNot.com before, but the guys who run that (Jim and James) have started this random drawing to giveaway $200,000 to 2 eligible voters (The person picked, and the person that refered him there). Anywho... As I am a HUGE liberal who tried to encourage everyone to vote (mainly for anyone not Bush) I wanna spread this to as many ppl as possible (and the fact that if you win $100,000 i get $100,000 too wink). But ya Jim and James are real people who are really cool. They made millions on hotornot.com smile anywho the link there is:

I wish you being a liberal had something to do with this thread...Hmm, it doesn't. I commend you for trying to get people to vote, and I will not state my political party of choice, but when trying to get people to vote and sign up for registration, keep your politics out of it. I encourage you all to vote and signup for cutty's voteornot thing, but come on...be fair in your post.

It's not so much that evman, it's more the point that if your telling people to go out and register and vote, you should let them make up their own minds...Not that cutty is telling people what to do, but his comment on liberalism had no real impact on whether people should vote or not.

Hmm, from here it looks like the post is more a "win money!" post as a pose to a call for people to register to vote. The "register to vote" part of this is done by hotornot via the promise of money. It really is that simple.

Thanks, Cutty, for telling everyone that you're a "HUGE liberal". You may make some "conservies" on this site not want to talk to you. But evman's right- Politics don't go down well on this site at all. But I think that voting is very important. That's all I'm going to say since I want to be a-political. Tarantino said he's a-political, and I think that's smart if you don't want to lose friends or fans.

I'd prefer Bush on a bed of searing coals myself, Aculag - which, if the old school Christians are right (which they're not, but never mind) is where he'd ultimately end up anyway, and fo a loooooooooong time.

GUYS!!! Stop it with the bush searing....and the kerry ketchup....???,,,i do not wnat this thread to turn into a political debate...it's a CONTEST to win if you vote! Now then, voting is VERY VERY important... and 70% of America doesn't vote... That's one of the reasons Jim and James are having such a contest. Now if you are INTENT on arguing something at least argue "Well I Think it's fake" so I can rebut with "No, Jim and james are VERY REAL people"

-Thank you smile

I would personally prefer stagehandduck to not make the same clich├ęd statements about Bush that I can get from flyers on the street from other students.

Now what Aculag said, that was clever. I applaud you, good sir.

Now about voter registration, ask yourselves this: Do we really want people voting who know nothing about politics, and didn't care enough to register in the first place when there was no money incentive involved?

Just a thought. Maybe non-participation by those who don't care in the first place isn't such a bad thing.

razz just kidding. I think in a sense everyone should vote in the same sense everyone should know politics. But blind following on either side is just stupid.

I went to see A Perfect Circle play in Hollywood, and at the show, Maynard (the singer, for those who didn't know), was urging people to vote by using his favorite mantra "Think for yourself, question authority."

I thought it was funny, because he was TELLING people to go vote, and then saying "think for yourself". That kind of thing makes me laugh.

Well, not in the US, I'm not. But as US foreign policy seems to consist of beating up countries it's not best friends with any more (AKA Crusading Against Terror) and dragging my country into it, it might be argued that I have a passing interest.

No - perhaps not. But if they went around spraying pesticides, which were carried on the wind and subsequently hurt your crops, then you would 'shoot your mouth off'. (Or at least, if you did, you would be justified in doing so).

And that's exactly the point that stqagehanduk was making - US Foreign policy has an impact upon the rest of the world, so the rest of the world has a right to voice their opinion on the matter.

pretty good. Though I consider myself very liberal, most of the time liberal protesters bug the hell out of me, and since they are the liberals who get the most air time, they make it look like most liberals are know nothing windbags.

I protest the war, and pretty much Bush in general, but I can do it without wearing a stupid looking paper mache mask that is supposed to look like bush while dancing around.

those are my two political cents

Honestly, I think we all 'protest' war. No one likes war. But when things are necessary against evil...They are necessary...Dems are going to have a field day when the death toll reaches 1000...But you kno what's funny? 1000 college kids a year commit suicide at universities...Where is the uproar? Over 50000 die needlessly on our highways. Where is the outrage? Where are the people trying to stop and hault the deaths there?

as a person who doesn't believe in "evil" that really means little to me. All those other deaths that you listed really don't make the 999 dead americans and the 11793 dead iraqis ok. Im not saying you are saying that, just throwing that out there

You don't believe in evil? I realize the deaths don't compare to one another as you would want them to, but how come their deaths are a reason to hate Bush but no one has stopped using a car even though more than half of a hundred thousand people die on one each year.

And the point I'm making is that this thread is not about US foreign policy or whether or not Bush made a mistake, or about the war, or about whether or not I like ketchup. It's about a contest for US voters. It has nothing to do with your political stance or who you're voting for or anything like that.

Whatever though.

The highways are under government jurisdiction. No one is urging the chp to go out and do their jobs better...You could make a case they are indirectly caused by the government...But thats not my point...They are deaths none the less, and no one seems to raise a ruckus...

And different then funding terrorists to kill innocent hard working Americans on the east coast.

I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
Now they say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Now I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fightin' for

Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Some went down like heros in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
And all the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Damn I love country music!

Nice song. No-one denies that blowing up innocent people is a bad thing, but then again I wouldn't have imagined that anyone could defend the trumped up imvasion of another sovereign nation as a good thing and I'm clearly wrong about that. The two being unconnected is, perhaps, the fundamental point that myself and my shaggy-haired, pot-smoking, freedom-hating and cowardly friends are all making.

I'm not sure that there's a comparison between x amount of people sent to their deaths (actually, that's emtive language and unfair - sent uncaringly to their potential deaths is more accurate) and y amount who die as a result of either stupidity and accident on the roads. May I politely enquire of sbfmovieco at what level the uneccessary deaths of American (and English or Iraqi or any nationality, for that matter) becomes statistically woth becoming concerned about?

Well, having said THAT - my opinion that Bush's unapolagetic and cynical engineering of a war has rather stuck in my craw and does tend to make me make comments that are perhaps out of place (my original little joibe at which sbfmovico took such outraged offence). For that I should apologise. And for everything else since , by the look of it ...

I will concede that Rebuplicans and the right wing are better dressers. Those Nazis were one natty bunch. As PJ O'Rourke rightly pointed out, no-one ever wanted to have sex dressed as a liberal.

The world war 2 death toll is in the millions, yet everyone who died serving against the enemy was worth their death to preserve freedom. The preservation of freedom knows no bounds...So you can't put a cap on that.

But that's just hiding behind empty patriotism and vague rhetoric, isn't it?

Iraq was at no point a threat to the US and its invasion (and "invasion" is the correct word) can only have been motivated by other factors.

I think global conflicts should be fought out the old fashioned way : WAR. Though online or something... It'd be perfect. World Wars would be fought on Battlefield Vietnam and Myself, er-no,Tarn, Schwar, Xcession would be decorated war heroes.

...Just think!
