Joking aside, no death is good news.

I honestly think this would be horrifyingly funny if we made very politically incorrect jokes.

He died the way he lived: Sitting up. Or as Margo Kidder might say; "Wuuuarghaaaaaargh!"

Joking aside, he got horribly hurt and he used that to try and help other people, which is more than most would, and it would have been pretty fantastic if he could have walked again. A live lived bravely is a life lived well.

What's really odd is that I was watching a christopher reeve movie where he played a dude in a wheelchair, and I thought to myself "Oh, I didn't know he still acted after his accident" and then HE GOT OUT OF THE WHEELCHAIR and shot a guy. and I was all like "OMGWTFMATE?!?!?" but it was just an old movie. That is...my....Christopher Reeve story.... sad

aw damn, my mom's crying now.

I'm not sure anybody has ever fit an iconic role quite so perfectly as Reeve fit Superman. Sure, Michael Keaton was great as Batman, and Tobey Maguire is really good as Spider-Man. But Christopher Reeve is Superman. Which is one reason I can't see a new Superman film working.

The first Superman film is a classic with some quite exquisite filmmaking in places. On the DVD commentary Richard Donner says of Reeve "I saw him fly, and I will see him walk again." Shame that won't happen now, but there's no doubt that he's inspired thousands of people around the world that are in the same kind of difficult situation.

Damn, he was good looking. Well, wait- I mean, in a man to man way. I don't like him like THAT.

My parents bought the Superman Movie a year ago and we still haven't watched it. I think I'll watch it in honor of him.

Anyone think they'll ever show that episode of South Park where Christopher Reeve sucks embryos again? That was a good episode.

You guys are assholes for making light of a horrible situation. He was a truly remarkable man that overcame so many odds, and died just trying to progress research for a cure to spinal paralysis. It makes me tear up to hear about this, because he was a truthfully great man who gave up so much, and still continued to live his life to its fullest. God Bless him. I don't care about -1s, you guys are being morons. May the real Superman rest in peace.

I thought that this thread was about the death of Christopher Reeve's in general. I didn't know that the topic was "The Christopher Reeves Memorial Thread".

You have to learn that making light of a negative situation is just a phychological mechanism. Nobody here is outrightly disrespecting this guy, and if even if they were, that's a right that they have. I'm sure nobody would do so however.

You need to lighten up.

If i could, I would salut to this great man. He has helped many disabled people, giving them sponserships for medical treatments...etc...
I loved him, he was my hero when I was young. It was my favourite TV show, but now its just a memory.

I just would like to say: RESPECT, and Rest in peace.

Here's an idea, let people grieve/remember him in their own damn way. Like Aculag said oh so long ago, there is a difference between making fun of and making light of. I respect Reeve for all he did, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a good joke about him.
I hope when I die, there isn't some person left behind who likes to tell people how to mourn/pay their respects for me. I say, rip on!

Its always nice how blunt its put on the forum thread list...

"chris reeves is dead"

Rodney dangerfield dies"

"Rick james is dead"

TO the point for sure. I just dont really get why these are even posted. I mean, everyone hears about it, is the whole thread supposed to be everyone saying "RIP" and "HE was a good man and a great actor/singer/dancer"?

After hearing about Reeve's passing, the City of Heroes community held a minutes silence for him. The pictures of this are here:

Quite beautiful I believe.
