I just bought the chromanator (v1.0.6) for the Mac, but when I try to open it I get an alert saying:
"Direct player Error"
#user_preferences_folder
Then when I hit okay for that I get this:
"Direct player Error"
"Object expected"
<void>
I hit okay for that one and then it freezes with just the opening window showing. I have to force quit out of it. I had the same problem with the demo, but I was hoping that the problem was just with the demo and that the full program would be fine. I tried uninstalling it, deleting everything in the My documents folder and re-installing it, but so far it still has not worked. Any help anyone could give would be great. Thanks in advance.

We have had one other user report a similar problem, which seemed to relate to his admin account setting strange permissions upon installation. Using the program from an alternate user account seemed to fix the issue.

I just tried to open it in another user account (standard) but I get the same problem, the only difference was that this time instead of saying <void> at the end, it said: #id. I tried looking at my account setting (I am the admin user) and everything looked fine. I wish that would have worked. Thanks for the help, though. Any other ideas?

I had the same problem. It seems to be caused by having multiple users set up. I was never able to fix it, so I still have the install file on my desktop, totally unuseable sad

I can't run the app. After starting up the app asks for the key file.. I can load the key file but then the app shows the main window and gives an error saying

"There is a problem with your current version of Chromanator. Please download an updated version from http://FXhome.com"

I've tried repairing permissions but no dice

OS X 10.3.6 (one useraccount)

Chromanator 1.0.6 (just downloaded today.. twice)

Would be useful to have some more information about your systems including computer specs etc. I have a multiuser setup on my G5 and G4s and the installer works just fine.

EricG - Your problem is quite different sounding to the other guys. What internet program are you using to download the key file?

EricG - Delete Chromanator from your computer and the Chromanator folder in your user directory. Then reinstall and try again.

Great news, now lets see if we can fix these other problems... Just need some more information on your systems and we'll see if we can start putting something together...

I have OSX 10.3.5 (Panther) on a Dual 1 GHz G4 PowerMac with 512 RAM. I have 5 user accounts all together and three are admin users (inculding me). I downloaded the program using Safari. The instal seemed to work fine and it accepted the key file then the error messages that I mentioned came on and the same problem has happened every time I have tried it. That should cover it; if you need any more info let me know.

OSX 10.3.3 5 users, 2 admin. I installed on the second admin account (mine) and got exactly what was described at the top of the page. I'm on an eMac G4 1GHz, 640 MB SDRAM. Downloaded using IE, had the keyfile corruption problems at first, but that doesn't appear to be the issue anymore.

Have the exact same problem as described in the first mail. Neither deleting the files or starting the program from another user does anything to rectify the problem.

OSX 10.3.5
G4 733Mhz
1,5 GB RAM
4 accounts (1 admin, 3 users)

Tried installing from admin account. Tried to create a new admin account and install from this one. Tried to install from a user account. No go whatever I do. I think there is a definite problem with your OSX installer as I haven't experienced any problems with [i]any[i] other applications (11GB worth) and I pretty much run a tight ship with my OS. (The reason for the multiple users/one admin in the first place).

Hi I had the same problem as detailed in Fireheart's first post (I think Tarn was referring to me in his first reply).

I tried everything - every permutation of install options that I could think of, deleting everything still no joy. I did manage to get the DEMO running on a separate user account but then when I tried installing the real thing the same problem reared its head.

For some reason the installer seemed to change the ownership of my system drive from my user account to 'unknown' I was then denied read/ write permissions. Endless permissions repairs fixed the permissions but it reverted every time I installed Chromy. So I had to resort to a clean install of 10.3(.5) on my PB G4 1Ghz.

My best guess is that some little bug has appeared in the OS during the process of my many OS updates (my copy of Panther is an upgrade from Jaguar i.e. I have to install Jaguar first before the Panther disks will install - I don't know if this is material)

However, Chromy installed absolutely flawlessly on a near identical specced iMac we have at the office using the same installer file - I can't make any sense of it at all!

Cheers - KiwiTodd

Appreciate your comments Kiwi, but I find it a little hard to believe that the OS is at fault. As I mention, Chromanator is the only program that won't install and it's actually the only problem I can encounter to ever have experienced with my system.
