I was lucky enough to see this about a week ago, and you know how I feel about it, so I won't waste any more of this space. In short, I love this movie, find it very comical, and the ONLY things I didn't like were I thought the tree bit was a little long, and the part with "for monkeys" seemed a little too "random" (but it was quickly fixed with the monkey mainframe bit), but those werent enough to bring down my score lower than a 5. good show old chap

"Poland?"

"BOO-YEAH!"

heh, thanks waser.

Btw, I'd recommend downloading the divx version as it is not only smaller in file size, but it is also better quality.

"BOO-YEAH!"
Thanks. biggrin

Yeah, about the monkeys... the dialogue from that was directly taken from a conversation Evman and I had a while back (don't ask) and I found it really funny, so I edited it and wrote it in. But I had nothing else to work with, so over the course of a week, ideas flooded into my head.

The homework scene was completely made up when I was walking down a hallway, and the tree scene was written one day in my Spanish class. Though I'm not quite sure about the origin of the sandwich scene...

hmm... I didn't laugh one second and I didn't find it very funny. Only twice I thought it kinda got something. Either it's not my taste or you completely missed the point of comedy. If your characters were a bit less goofy, it would have been more funnier, trust me.

I think its the kind of thing that you either love or hate.

If your characters were a bit less goofy, it would have been more funnier, trust me.
Considering how the whole point of the movie is that they are supposed to be goofy, that wouldn't make any sense, now would it? This is the type of movie that you either find completely hilarious or, you mind is too "sophisticated" to find stupid humor funny. biggrin

Normally I'd just call this the basic stupid teenage boys acting lazy and idiotic, but this seemed to be far more. You're filmmaking skills are greatly improving, and even though your humor does not surpass Aculag's, this was great. Perfect timing and music selection. Really good, reminded me greatly of the syle of Napoleon Dynamite. Thats why you get a idiot-deserved five.

This was mildly funny overall and it had some extremely funny points, but I felt the pacing was a little too slow for how few peak 'funny' points there were. 4/5.

Here, i will simply be blunt. im not going to bother holding too much back this time, so you'll have to excuse me.

This movie was the biggest waste of my time i have yet to download off of fxhome.com. This was so blatantly unfunny and drawn out, i cant believe you guys spent time on this. As far as napoleon dynamite is concerned, it was actually funny, if not in a bizarre and different way. This was just VERY irritating and long. The acting and line delivery could have been so much better. The actor in the blue shirt annoyed the hell out of me, unfortunately. No plot, no point, no reason to watch, way too long, poorly scripted and lazy.

Hate to be so brash sounding, but thats what i got out of it. Im SURE you can do better than this. Try to not rely on inside jokes that 3rd graders get.

There aren't inside jokes because other people loved this movie when they don't even know us personally. I think you mean that you just don't get the humor that we gave here. Thats all.

We had fun making it, and lots of people like it, so, while I value your opinion, you don't seem to be the majority.

Aculag wrote:

There was no other way to do it. He says it as he is picking up the sandwich, so I couldn't cut, we couldn't reshoot, and I think it works fine as it is.

You could have cut out the audio. With the compression, it's hard to tell his lips are moving. Oh well. Still funny stuff, but I might have to steal that joke and make it work better. wink

Seemed like you were trying too hard to fit humor in. Too random, which isn't funny. Too many awkward silences. Also seemed like you were trying to hard to have humorous dialouge. Audio volume levels were unconfortable. Too loud at many points.

I really don't know what too say. It wasn't good, I wasn't terrible. Just kind of...there.

You can do better.

This movie has truly proven that there are different types of humor and there is no humor that appeals to all people. i.e. the views of Waser vs. Bryce, whereas Waser loved this as he is to love his own mother, and Bryce hated this as he hates hell (all Montagues, and thee!). But it's all about the humor.

I was in no way thinking of this movie as Napoleon Dynamite, though now I that I do realize it, in some way does reflect Napoleon Dynamite. Whatever.

and if you think the script, acting, editing is stupid... Its because thats the point. some of you are taking this movie too seriously, and its not funny for you. All the stupid things... the long pauses, the prolouge that rolls way to fast, the action movie credits at the end, the idiotic dialouge... Its all deliberate. After all the movie is called American IDIOTS.

Technically its fairly well assembled, but I made it just two minutes in before I'd had enough. Some people here seem to find it hilarious but I'm just finding it utterly unengaging.

I'll defer to vote, but if I had you'd be looking at maybe a two, and that's just for technical competence and having produced something that isn't just a £%^£&£ing trailer ...

I don't think Greenday can sue us though...I mean, American Idiots isn't just a name, but a state of mind....and most Americans are in that state of mind.

i agree with the well-read and positive rolemodel aculag. However, I never COMPARED it, because i couldnt. I watched this for about a minutte before fast forwarding it to see if it got better. Needless to say, My critical side was not dissappointed. I would also like to point out, that aculag is a good and honest director, and that he shoots blank firing guns like a girle man. You did compare it. By talking about how you thought Napoleon Dynamite was funny, but you disliked this. That's like me saying "You know, I really liked the movie version of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, but I didn't really like this movie at all." That's a comparison of how much I liked either movie. No, you're not saying "this scene is reminiscent of this scene", but all the same, it's a comparison.

Okay, following even further in the footsteps of George Lucas... redface ... I have added a revised version. This version has fixed the buzz of the sound and most of the sound irregularities. I have also color graded some shots, and fixed the aspect ratio. There is also a little... something... at the end. razz

Thanks for watching, and yes we are planning an American Idiots II (or 5.. or whatever) in which we will fix the things you all mentioned, like the pacing, which will definately be faster.

Thanks Again - Evman

It took my ages till I went through looking at this movie, but you still hang around here so what the heck, I'll comment it.

I loved it, the pacing was indeed a bit slow but it made some scenes even more funnier, your sense of humour is great, would've liked to see a bit more "Office Space" in it but you have your own show so keep up the good work, waiting for sequel!

ok well. personally i think all the people that thought this wasnt funny, arent wrong, but arent right. i sorta think it was comical. i actually did like this movie, but i didnt love it, nor did i think it was a waste of time like that mean girl that commented.

haha, keep up the good work, make a new film.

You know, it's not really thread bumping if it's for a movie, something which can be timelessly judged.
