HOLY CRAP!

Well, honestly, I dunno what to say. That looks nothing like the original movie, though the original movie wasn't very close to the book. This one's supposed to be closer to the book. And personally, I don't think there's anyone better than Tim Burton to direct such a wonderous story.

Thanks for that poster Canta. biggrin

I've been imagining it as a musical for so long, but I now realize that it probably won't be. Which is cool.

I've been told some of the sets are utterly stunning.

Judging by that poster, it'll be quite Tim Burton 'dark'. Which... well... I can only imagine how enjoyable it's going to be to watch.

Before Harry Potter came out, I thought Harry would break out into songs for some reason. Like when he was lonely at the Dursely's house. So yeah.

Wahhoo, this movie shalt rocketh. Willy Wonka was perfect cast. smile

A) xbreaka that was random

B) Explain how HP is homsexual

C) Harry Potter was good

D)I never said it was going to be worse than HP, didn't even compare them, hence "A)"

Yeah, don't dis HP. The third one was awesome and uber-entertaining. Anyways, I'm not much of a Willy Wonka fan. It's kind of like "Big Fish" (which I liked quite a bit) in that you have to really get into that whimsically stuff to like it. Thats what I think.

I really really hope Johnny Depp can pull off Wonka as well as Gene Wilder did. I really don't have any doubts, as I'm positive every roll Depp plays is brilliant, but still. Wilder was incredible.

Yeah, that's an oompah loompah. One actor plays the part and they clone him for the others.

I hope this doesn't turn out to be a goofy kiddy movie that adults won't enjoy.

Depp looks pretty rad in those pictures, and all those kids seem to fit the parts quite well.

I wonder when we can expect a trailer for this.

I hope this retains burton's style, while being more...."whimsical" than dark, kind of like Big Fish

Not realistsic. Like, it's too cartoony, like Cat in the Hat. I understand the movie, the story, etc Pooky. Hence me not complaining about Wonka. I like Wonka, Oompa Loompa doesn't look how I pictured from the book. I want to see Charlie.

EDIT: Your right, I thought it WAS supposed to be a mimic of the real world. My bad, disregard anything I said. With all of those midgits running around and a flying elevator, it had me fooled.

And the first one wasn't? and for that matter, you didn't think the book was cartoony? To each his own i guess.

NO, it is cartoony, just not THAT cartoony. It is my opinion. He was perfect in the first one. Fat German boy, obnoxious parents, the right clothes. This costume doesn't cut it in my book, reminds me of Cat in the Hat or something.

EDIT: We are talking about the fat boy, not anything else mind you.

I don't like the Oompa Lumpa (sp?). He's totally not orange enough. Willy Wonka didn't enslave little people, he enslaved little orange people with green hair and glaring white eyebrows. I think that's crucial. That's the kind of thing that I hate about remakes. To try and make it their own, they remove or alter little details like that, and it makes you realize that those kind of details are an essensial part of what makes it a classic.

While I will agree that the Oompa Loompa doesn't look quite right, you are mistaken when it comes to what Oompa Loompas are supposed to look like. This is based on a book that had the Oompa Loompas as midget pygmies from an African tribe. The book never really says they are little orange guys with green hair and white eyebrows, as far as know.
This version is "supposed" to be darker and more like the book.

I think the movies going to be good. Depp will be awesome because he's an astounding actor and Tim Burton is equally as talented when it comes to Directing.

There are also a few more pics at this website http://www.superherohype.com/forums/showthread.php?t=137463

I have a friend who was working in the lot next door to where they filmed some of this. One day they heard a massive roar and laughter, cheering, clapping, etc, etc, coming from the next lot. So they all rushed over to see what was going on.

It turns out they were filming the scene with the boat going down the chocolate river. They were using a suspended camera on wires that swings down and around the boat - nice!

Unfortunately, just as the camera was swinging past the boat, the cables snapped and the camera landed in the chocolate river. The whole crew were roaring with laughter!

How much I hear you ask? Well, put it like this ... the lens alone was worth over £150,000. eek

One of the camera crew told my friend "don't worry, we've got a few spares!".
