Ok then, inspired by a post made by a thread started by TimmyD I thought it'd be fun to start this thread where all the 3D artists on FXHome can show what kind of stuff they can do.

Every fortnight or so a new subject will be set and you'll then have a a week or two to submit your entry. There will then be a poll or vote to determine the "winner".

There are no real rules and this is meant to be a kind of feelgood thread where there are no arguments, only encouragement. Each subject can be interpreted however you like, any 3D program can be used including any plugins or renderers. Once you submit your image (post it up) you can make any ammendments you want or withdraw it completely, just not after people start voting. As well as this models must be all your own work (Thanks Serpent)

****The First Topic is: "An Award" ****

As this one is fairly straight forward, try and post up your images by Friday 19th November

Lets see what you've all got then.
Have fun.

PS, suggestions are welcome for future subjects, post up ideas here or PM me.

Sounds cool, but what is the first one? And, you have to make the models, no turbosquiding. smile Look at my suggestion in the other forum for my contest part 2 suggestion. Remember, make it easy at first, it can get harder and harder as 3d newbies get more and more expierienced.

Oh, didnt't see that award thingy. Ok, I shall shoot for it.

You actually could make a trophy in Terragen if you warped the terrain enough.

Just to clear up:

You are modelling "an Award" (a trophy, medal etc.)
I will accept Terragen entries just to see it anyone can actually do it!
Any touch ups in photoshop etc are fine just dont go crazy with it
Entries should be posted in this thread.

OK, here's the Award that I made... I kept it simple on purpose... I had a ton of ideas, but I thought this first one should stay simple smile

Everything was made from scratch, in Lightwave smile Took me about 1/2 hour... The wall and the wood were made with Lightwave's procedural textures, so no "outside" maps were used... I made the text in photoimpact and used it as a color map and bump map for the front... If I'd have spent more time on it I would have smoothed out the "Point" at the bottom better, because you can kinda see the points there...

It's a copy of the European (Football/Soccer) Cup which I made during the tournament. The cloth, maps and renderer (Vray) are all new though.

Program: Max (With Vray)

nevermind them(the naysayers) Serpent, your pic (to most people) was obviously composited, you can tell just by the reflection map on the CGI trophy... smile

try not to take that in the wrong way wink It's a good model, you just should have taken a picture of your room for the reflection map, then it would have been perfect! smile

You should just create a new topic man. People are going to have a hard time finding the new challenge or at least post it on the front page too.

The general feeling was that a new topic every few weeks would just clog the place up. But it would make it easier and we'd be able to have a poll each time if there was a new topic. Maybe each time the old one could get deleted.

There's already a bunch of "Clutter" here... Unless the guys at CSB mind, then I say post a new topic... If they do mind then don't... smile Easy as that... I wouldn't worry about what the people who aren't involved say either, just the CSB Guys... (my $.02) smile

After consulting with the top dogs at CSB whats going to happen is there will be a completely new topic every 2 weeks (so the next lot of entries can't go up for another week) and the old ones will just be left because that way we won't lose all the fantastic work.

It may be a good idea to lock up the old topic, to avoid silly comments. Not gonna point any fingers or anything you know who you are.

Ah, Slick, I don't think it needs to be locked. If everyone can keep their cool I think it'll be okay. But after seeing the 'President Who?', 'Me and Mt Friends', 'Friendship Trailer-NO MORE COMMENTS NEEDED', 'Yes!', and 'I must be the luckiest man alive!' threads all locked, possibly due to some of my abrasive comments, I think I just won't post for half the time. hugegrin

Guys part of the agreement that we could have a new thread every time was that the forum's (in theory) wouldn't get messed up with this thread being constantly at the top and making it harder to find new posts. In short unless you have something constructive and relevant to say then don't bother bumoping the thread otherwise I'm going to ask one of the mods to lock this which means there can be no congratulations for the winner (which is what the thread is all about). Let that be an end of it.

Let your congratulations pour in for Billy who seems to be our winner.
