I’m posting this here just in case only a hand full of you saw my post in the Terragen thread.
The cover disk of this month’s PC Format has a fully functional version of Vue3 Mover (issue 166). You would be crazy to miss this golden opportunity to get your hands on this extremely powerful software.
Check out http://www.e-onsoftware.com/
for more info.

Holy Macaronie! And as pooky said, how easy is it to make that? Looks very, very hard.
EDIT: I have just tried the Vue 4 Professional Edition Demo, and even though I have absoultely NO 3d experience before, I managed to do a photorealistic scene in just about 2 minutes!
I have to get this program.

It's VERY easy and VERY advanced... I know the two terms don't really work well togethor, but in this case it's an exception.
I got VUE2 from PC Format, and It was amazing... I really wished it could do animation too, but it couldn't this. This however can, and as sharp said, it's a GREAT opperunity to get an awesome programme. Also, I doubt any other magazines will get this for a long time!

Someone pinch me quick, I think I’m dreaming.
They have just updated their website and are offering vue4 as a download only for £35 UK Pounds.
What the heck… they where selling it for 200 Euro only last night.
There must be a catch !!!!.

I have to check that out!
EDIT: Looks like there are no catches, I'm buying it!
EDIT 2: I have just bought it, the only catch is that if you buy the full price you'll get it shipped home, but if you buy the downloadable version, you have to download very big files. I also bought extra scenes and objects for Vue 4. That file with the scenes and objects are 432 mb big!
I'll post a screenshot from my first render soon...

Must have changed the price because of the new version.
I have this on my computer, or at least I did... Not sure if I still do. I have no idea where or how I got it, but it worked pretty well when I tested it out.

Can you tell me roughly how many MB of a download its working out at for the program, and then any extra’s you picked up ?.
Also can I download it over a few days ?.
The reason why I’m asking is I’m certainly not going to miss this opportunity, but I’m on dial up. It will take an awful long time for me to download the program and I want to work out how long it will actually take me.
Come to think of it… The demo of Vue4 came on the same DVD as Vue3 that I got from PCF, I wonder can I just buy a serial number and save the bother of downloading ?.

Is that right, that vue4 (download edition) comes without mover, which is needed to make animation?

Post 14 of 27
As far as I know the standalone Vue 4 will give you animation from one view point only. For example…water will move, trees will blow in the wind, wheels will rotate, but you can only view all this from one point…. In short you can’t move the camera views.
Adding the Mover pack allows you to move the camera while all the other animation is happening. You can create flight paths that move around the entire world you created in different ways.
For example… in the version of Vue3 I have with Mover, I can run over the ground with the feel of running like an animal or fly from a height with the feel if viewing everything from a helicopter. Each method available produces a very realistic feel.
Mover will also give you the power to import Poser Animations.
It’s still “”””WELL””” worth the money with our without Mover. Mover is not that expensive either and is downloadable.

Well, the file for Vue 4 Espirit is about 90 mb, and then the extra scenes and landscapes i bought is about 412 mb. And the download is only availible for 24 hours.

So basically I’m screwed.
I would never download that much in 24 hours on Dial up.
Nobody close to me has broadband either. We are still living in the dark ages here in Ireland.

<gloat> Broadband PAH !.. downloaded it at work... took 6 minutes with all the addons </gloat>
Im probably going to go for Vue 5 as well, that looks awesome for under £200.00
If it was legal or allowed I could make it available for longer than 24 hours on a private ftp site... But I wont do that at all, never, definately not.. not even if you PM me to find out the details, there is absolutely no way I could do that ..

I’m about to start the 90Mb download on Dial Up in an hour. I’m afraid I will have to give the Objects and Scenes a miss for the moment. Well… unless I can twist pboniface’s arm or someone else’s to download them for me and upload them to my server where I will have the time to download that much data on dialup.
Something to watch out for too guys… If you’re living in Europe and panning on buying any of the BOX Sets, their pricing is fixed in a way that charged people in Europe FAR more.
Check it out for yourself, the US Dollar Price is exactly the same as the Euro Price excluding VAT. The Euro is far stronger than the Dollar so they are obviously making a lot of extra money here.
On top of that they will add the VAT, and Postage. It’s probably best if you buy it and have it delivered to a friend in America.

Can VUE4 do movies and animated waves?

I’m still waiting for my serial number so I can access Vue 4, but I can tell you that the demo version of Vue 4 that I’m using right now does allow me to render waves.
After creating water you can right click on it and chose the “change material” option. Once you do that you can select from all sorts of different animated liquids.
As for Movies. It does export Video renders but without the “Mover” pack you can only create Video’s from one camera point. Buying the Mover pack allows you to render flybys or move the camera in any direction you like.
