Only 19 days until Christmas morning. I'm curious of what everyone has on there list this year. Being my last year of high school basically all I've asked for is money! I'll need it for going away to college next year (cringe..big change). I also have my birthday coming up this Friday so I've made up a little bit of a lost.

1) MONEY
2) Fisheye Lens for the GL2
3) Shotgun Mic
4) Boom Pole
5) Punching Bag (ohh the stressful times)
6) 6 Peice Surround Sound Speakers for the Comp

That's about all I have written down on my list. I do very well around christmas... i'm spoiled. I was thinking of saving up some money and buying a photo ipod... anyways it'd be cool to see what some of you are asking for for x-mas assuming you've been a GOOD boy.

MiniDisc player rock, i got one last year for christmas and I use it all the time to listen to my tunes and you can also use some of them to record your audio for your movies. Its a good investment either way.

Ahh, an XL2 case would be nice.
I good LCD monitor for the XL2 would be good too.

Not gonna happen anytime soon, I guess all I have left is AlamDV3.

That could be one of the best Christmas presents I could get.

im going for an external hard drive, acid, and other movie making stuff.

as for movies, it's mostly just imported asian films (zebraman, shaolin soccer,
electric dragon 80,000 v and the like)

If i dont get an external harddrive, I think im going to get a nintendo DS.

I think that with the loot my grandma sends me, im going to go to the desert and clean out the asian import dvd shop, and perhaps buy me a alamdv3 smile

Okay.....sorry, I got a little angry there. I'm very thankful for the things I've gotten over the years. But I when some people get iPods for Christmas and I get one for Christmas and my birthday you can see why I would view that as a tad unfair.

Oh, and I'm not rich. Definetly not.

Nope. It's a list for my peeps to chose from. Not everything I'll get. I probably wont even get a quarter of that stuff. If I do get a game, DVD, etc. , I'll have to share it with Ben, thats the truth.

We should make an FXHome Secret Santa thread, and have everyone post their addresses, and then people can send random people things in the mail. That'd be fun. Until someone get's anthrax'd.

Holiday Eating Tips

I hate aspects of this time of year. Not for its crass commercialism and forced frivolity, but because it's the season when the food police come out with their wagging fingers and annual tips on how to get through the holidays without gaining 10 pounds.

1. About those carrot sticks. Avoid them. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. Like fine single-malt scotch, it's rare. In fact, it's even rarer than single-malt scotch. You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnogaholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later then you think. It's Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other peoples food for free. Lots of it. Hello? Remember college?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Years, You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa. Position yourself near them, and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. You can't leave them behind. You're not going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day ?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean have some standards, mate.

10. And one final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Reread tips. Start over. But hurry! Cookieless January is just around the corner.

I’m already enjoying my x-mas present. I got an Infinity center channel, sub and rear speakers to go with the 320 watt front speakers I already have and a bunch of monster cable to tie it all together.

I picked up the Spiderman 2 DVD (which they did a superb job of mixing by they way) and the Hero DVD. The Bourne Supremacy comes out tomorrow and I’ll pick up the Return of the King extended edition on the 14th and then maybe debate some more about whether to get an ipod or not. Maybe that new U2 one.

It’s shaping up to be a good Christmas.

Ho, ho, holidays

haha, sorry. Apple-outdating-their-own-products-every-5 seconds paranoia speaking through me, I guess.

iPods are cool, I got myself a nifty 3rd gen one.

Only reason I’d get it is because it’s not white like every other ipod I’ve seen at a store. But I may not even go ipod for the same reason you mentioned. They come out with a newer version before you are even finish loading up the one you just bought. unsure

I may have to instead get the new Delphi XM MyFi which looks to be a pretty wicked product.

Yeah, well, you'll realize once you have an iPod that regardless which one you get, they are all wicked themselves, aside from the newer/better/etc.

3rd gen. iPods rule. I even have some friends who asked the Apple people if they could sell them the 3rd gens instead of 4th. No offense Billy. 4th gens are cool, too. smile

I am going on a dive trip to Cozumel Mexico, a big present (I finally bought my own gear, onther Christmas present.) I plan on getting Digigrade, I want Photoshop, external Hard drive, maybe, a DS travel pack, a bean bag, this Star Wars sith attack droid thing that I have wanted forever, it tracks your saber (a plastic one) and shoots disks at you and you block them, a light for scuba diving, a wet suit, a bunch of realistic toy guns, a robot thingy, I was going to get a saber from http://sabershop.com, but Ryan isn't taking orders, and that's it. If anyone has any suggestions, PM me. I really can't think of anything that I REALLY want except the saber, but I wont be getting that... :-\ Photoshop would be great, but that's a LOT of money.

That isn't good to announce ben, because it is illegal. Just do it, a post isn't necessary.

And billy already said he isn't getting one, because his uncle bought him an ipod without asking or something along those lines.

Geeze, are you guys simply telling the world that you pirate music? If you do it, do it in secret. This is a forum, in other words, RIAA has access to it, as does everyone, it is public.

Guys you gotta start paying for music. Stop downloading illegally. Think of it this way: You're a musician and spent a while putting together a CD just to find out no one is buying it because its been made available for illegal download and you dont make any money. You have to live night and day on the streets scavenging for scraps of food laying on the floor. Okay, maybe its not that extreme. Its pretty much the same as going into a record store and stealing an album off the shelf. Would you do that? Downloads are really hurting the whole record industry. If your gonna do it, do it the legal way.

I do pay for music. I use iTunes. But if I can't find a song I want on iTunes, all I'm left with is searching for it on a P2P program.

I actually can understand that. the record companies should take a little bit of time to release something to digital music stores. All you canadians get itunes music for cheap! Luckyy! Hmm... Now what do i want for the holidays?

the sony t-1 digital camera
all csb products of course
dodgeball: a true underdog story on dvd

thats all i can think of for now

Yeah, I'm an ALL legal guy. After seeing how Ben's computer go crazy off of Kazaa, I don't think I'll ever use an illegal download software.

But, getting back on topic,

I want an XL1s for Christmas (not likely since we're going to Venice next year) and I've been saving up for one, so I'm probably gonna get one next summer...still, kind of a belated gift to myself. hugegrin

Hmm unless I'm mistaken, this thread is about Christmas wishlists!

So please take your P2P arguments somewhere else, because we all know which side is the good one.

I KNOW THIS IS OFF TOPIC, BUT DON'T GET ALL FUSSY!

I'm not all about the gifts. I just noticed one of Evman's comments earlier in the thread and I have to say, it's just rude when you stereotype someone about their state. But, to turn a new leaf, I feel compelled to do something about my so called, 'selfishness' , so here's a tribute to Evman. Listen and enjoy...

Well first I did it to Serpent on AIM and me and him got together and decided to do it to Evman, the problem was, we didn't want it to sound corny when I posted, so I took on a mean attitude on purpose to sound more like I normally do, less like I'm trying to pull a joke on somebody. It was a cover. I was just 'acting' when I wrote that post, so please disregard any arguementative content of it. Evman, I'm sorry if you took that the wrong way.

EDIT: Arthur, click the little red X next to the edit button to delete a post (you can only do so if nobody has posted after you)

EDIT2: Another game, again, prize is +1. I don't mean to sound offensive here, this is just some trivia. Who is the only FXHome user to end every sentence he has posted in an exclamation mark?

The only thing I could find was something called Lucia's Day. Is that it?

Do you really celebrate that? As a Christmas alternative or as an added thing or what? I'm very curious now. tard

Its actually I think like a bunch of stuff like milk, and eggs I think mixed with rum and its kind of thick and really good. My mom MAKES it but yeah in the US I doubt anyone knows how to they just buy it ready in a bottle but I bet its not that good biggrin.

Ingredients:

* 8 eggs
* 3/4 cup sugar
* 1 pint each, heavy cream and milk
* 5 oz. rum
* 8 oz rye

Separate eggs. Beat the whites until they stiffen, then gradually add 1/4 cup of the sugar while beating.

In a separate bowl, beat the yolks, then slowly add the remaining 1/2 cup sugar, stirring continuously to dissolve it. Add the heavy cream, milk, rum and rye to the yolks and stir together until the mixture is smooth.

Stir beaten egg whites into the mixture, then refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.

To serve, pour a jigger of brandy or rum into the bottom of a cup or glass if desired, then fill the cup with eggnog. Sprinkle with nutmeg and serve.
-----------------

During the holidays I drink eggnog by the gallon. Come on over I have some in the fridge right now. smile
