The Man, The Myth, The Movie!
Come see MacBeth and his buddies duke it out on the high-seas of Washington (Movie may not actually contain seas or dukes). This trailer is pretty self-explanitory, so when you guys are ready with the awards, just let us know.

I'll be in my trailer! (that was a pun!)

I found this to be surprisingly good. A lot better than I thought it was going to be. It had a nice feel to it, although at times it felt a bit off. I guess the best way to describe it , is most of it was well put together and some great effects ( explosions etc ) but there were moments when some of it seemed less polished.

I hope this is going to become a full film and not just a showy trailer. Even a film in several parts to help break up the filming.

Don't suppose you have a quicktime version. My windows media players fooked oop, so I saw the trailer in the worst possible way: Jumpy stutter vision, that my computer does so well.

From what I saw it looked really, really damn good but I'd like to see it properly and a quicktime (or possibly DivX) version is the only way to do so. I'd very much like to see it, so it'd be cool if you've got a quicktime version.

really impressive! very well cut and outstanding trailer-feeling! I'm astonished by your work, respect, the fx look great, revolution soundtrack fits in perfectly ...the flight scene greenbox effect is a bit too obvious but I haven't seen such a great project for months anyway! 5 points from me!

When I saw the teaser of this movie a long time ago I was freaked out hehe. I really want to see the finished movie.
And I also think the trailer kicks ass.. now comes the but part... BUT, I never liked the lightsaber part in the trailer. I mean you got this great action packed movie with lots of cool sh*t and then you get lightsabers. you can also get normal swords or katana's you know hehe. but what im saying is that it doesnt really fit in, but thats just my opinion ^^ Still wanna see this movie haha.
looking forward to it and keep up the good work.

This is one of the best independant trailers i have seen in a long time! Everything from the digital effects, to the music, to the real life stunts. How did you do those explosions! and i hope that's a car chase because those clips looked amazing! cudos to your production team, actors, and stunt men! can't wait to see the whole thing! it's an honour to give it a top review!

Your teaser for Macbeth 3000 is one of my favorite things on FXHOME and the film looks very, very promising. I was afraid that I'd never be able to see a full version of this, but now it looks like it's moving along. Definitely 5/5

Oh and by the way, were there scheduling conflicts and stuff like that slowing down the making of this movie or just being tired?

The movie took two years to film - one year high school (we all lived close by), and one year College/University (we all moved away).
We got most of this shot during the summer months (and a snowy week in March.

Most of us are in Toronto, while the sound guy goes to school in Boston.

So yeah - scheduling.

This from a person whom just joined this forum moments before making this post.... Kinda makes me wonder which film, in the cinema currently, you worked on that you are trying to get higher in the top 10. But remember one thing: one will never be able elevate ones self by tearing down another. I thought this was one of the best edited trailers I have seen in this cinema and though the acting looked a bit cheesy at times at other times it looked pretty OK and in context of the FXHOME cinema it was pretty good. I would have given it a 5 if it weren't for the lightsabre, I just don't see it fitting in to the movie(even though they are cool).

I'm at Guelph-Humber.

Geoff's at Brock.

Meety's in Boston.

Dennis has a job as an usher at Princess of Wales.

Matt is working here in the 'sauga.

We may actually book a small theatre for a few showings this summer, if you're interested.

Interesting side note: Thanks to the double cohort, I couldnt get into Ryersen with a 94% average (including a 96% and a 94% in two OAC english courses).

It was either GH or Carleton for journalism, and since I have no intention of working for the CBC...

haha, shit. i averaged about 10% less than that and still got in. that sucks man, cuz Ryerson is cool.

My friend somehow flunked out of Brock...but he's rich and doesn't care. He worked instead of attending class and well yeah. Brock is said to be a driveby-diploma school.

and yeah man, I'd defintely be interested in watching the film, even if it doesn't play in a theatre. do you have a dvd?

next time you're doing a project and need more ppl, give me a shout. if ya gots msn, im on kirill@scope-films.com

This is one of the best trailers I've ever seen! I think the graphics look amazing! You guys must have worked very hard on this movie. Was it ever frustrating at times to get everyone together? I read that you all are doing different things so it must have been hard to schedule since I'm sure you all have jobs. You're family and friends should be proud of all the hard work you've done and you guys girlfriends (assuming you all have them, considering you're all pretty good looking) must have been patient and very proud of you. Nice job!! It's number one in my books! razz

This was really sweet. I enjoyed watching it because its very similiar to a real trailer. The only thing is I can see right now the acting in this movie isnt going to be good...at all. but thats alright the rest of the action, cinemetography and effects should make up for it. 5 stars and good work. Looking forward to this one.

You can see the trailers in the download section of www.superguncinema.com

Disclaimer: They were SCHOOL PROJECTS
Hamlet is very bad,
King Lear is alright

Hamlet was filmed in a day and got into the Toronto International TEEN Festival.

King Lear took 1 day to write, 2 days to plan, 3 days to film (a long weekend), and we presented it wth a stunning live presentation on the Tuesday.

Although they are what motivated us to work together in film, we can't deny the amatuernish and cheesiness of them. Literally, in King Lear, Kent's costume is a grey wizard robe, aviator sunglasses, a cowboy hat and wooden stocks. Watch them at your own risk, but they don't represent in ANY way the quality of MacBeth... they were both 8mm, MacB is mini DV... they were both camera audio, MacB is Boom-mic... they were under half an hour, MacB is 2.5+... they were both scenes or scene selections, MacB is a full-plot, full-out, full-of-itself movie.

But for nostalgia's sake, www.superguncinema.com

lol- go have a laugh, see us in our ignorant youth...

-Logan-

PS- the ultimate rush is a fake trailer we put before King Lear... Geoff is the guy to ask about that. The trailer is an earlier work of his (about Hamlet-era)

I dunno what's going on with HILTZ. We were there about 3-4 years ago, and I can't even find the site. Here's a good site: http://www.wgc.ca/resources/film_tv_festivals.html

That has a lot of festivals, but I haven't researched all of them yet... check it out though, hope it can help (but be sure to check each site's "About" sections, cause I almost submitted MacBeth to a disabled film site, and that would have been bad, considering at one point in the flick, Superdev (yes, like Superdave) get's out of a wheelchair screaming "I can use my legs! I can walk!" and then gets hit by a train.... er... I'm assuming that wouldn't go over well....)

Check out the site if it helps, as for HILTZ, I have no idea.

HILTZ might be dead, but I think there might be a subsidiary of it... i'll check it out and get back to you.

MacBeth has a new release date. End of JUNE. WAHOO!
Sound, FX and editing are DONE. Scoring starts next week. The final project will be in Dolby 5.1 digital!!!! So, to answer a few questions, I emailed our director, Geoff. Here's his reply.

Q+A:

What camera did we use?

A Sony Mini-DV camcorder, I'm not sure of the model but I can check when I'm home.

What is frame rate manipulation and are we using it?

29.97, this is number, I am not 100% sure on the number, except for 100, I'm 100% sure that's the percentage of me not being sure

What is a movie?

A movie is movieing pictures. Our movie can also be called a talkie.

What kind of software are we using? (editing, fx, compiling, apoopy wise)

Editing is Adobe Premire 6.5, AlamDv and Chromanator for FX, Microsoft Paint for all the hard effects (don't tell Harmeet), and Harmeet is using some crazy sound editing programs becuase he's brown

What is the running time?

Running is expected to change a bit (smaller) in the next few days, right now 2 hours

Will the movie be available online? ... heehhe... yeah right...

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO Captain Murphy

Why?

do we exist? Let me tell you my good friend, we exist for popcorn. The Indians made corn like us, and we pop it. Jesus missed this point, thats too bad.

SO there you have it- more answers from Chief Geoff. Hope this update is useful.
Just a note though- the movie will be premiering in Toronto and Mississauga at cinemas we will rent. Then, we are going to apply to TIFF, Sundance, Sudbury, Ottawa and BC for festivals. We actually won't be able to release the movie on DVD until after the festivals, but when we do, we're considering using amazon.com to distribute it. It would be nice if we can get a distribution deal, but we might have to pay for it ourselves. As an inquiry...

What would you pay to see this movie in theatres?
What would you pay to own it?
(The DVD will have LOTS of features, including two shorts, a making of, bloopers, unused footage, that kind of thing. Might end up being a double disc... we'll see)

We are still foggy as to what people would consider a good reasonable price.
Thanks alot!!!

Hey - Can't believe that people are still posting here.

Just letting you know that school's been rough, and the website is going to stay the way it is for a good 6 weeks. After that, you can expect a major overhaul.

You can also expect it to be peppered with a few extra (small) videos over the summer months, but we'll be going full speed ahead with MB3K, so don't expect miracles.

That site again is www.superguncinema.com
And you can check out www.buttonmashers.org, which is just my personal site, which is only serving as a MB3K mirror at this point. Expect some completely different stuff as of August.

Any queries can also be sent to bill@superguncinema.com, and if Dennis or Snowy want to know how to get into their e-mail, just let me know.

I have an email? (Logan)

BTW- as a sidenote, I'm working on an unofficial MacBeth site too, that will be updated regularly, and be a little more in-depth, so Bill here can do his school thing. Don't have a domain yet, but I'll keep you all posted.

I'm working on the site right now (offline) with Frontpage.

It's about time I made another post. I just wanted to let everyone know, that the release date of Macbeth is right now going to be schuled for June 24 at a theatre in Toronto. So if you can fly down to Toronto for that weekend then you better! I have started scoring for the film and will continue untill the end of April. If you want to donate lots of money to the Supergun Fund then check out our website at www.superguncinema.com and email any one of us.

David Hassellhoff will actually be at the premiere so you better get here. And so will John Stamos

Ok I'm outty!

Peace

Hey Torontonians.

The Bloor Cinema has been booked for July 15th at 9:30PM for Macbeth 3000.
We will be preselling tickets, so if you want to guarantee a spot, email god_of_wine007@hotmail.com

I think we'll be selling tickets for $7 each, but we're not sure yet. It will definately be under $10.
We'd really appreciate anyone here coming out and supporting our picture, and if you haven't voted for it, go ahead, don't be shy.
Keep in mind, the movie is a comedy/action based on the scottish play and put in modern times. We've spent 3 years making this and we have some people to pay back, but more importantly, I would just like to see it on the big screen to a sold out audience. That would make my day. Even if you hate movies, come on out and enjoy the night. I'll post more when I know more.

Thanks!!

-Logan-

Cool, Toronto's a bit of a walk for me. But send me a DVD, or even better a scrappy, pirate VHS copy filmed from the back, then it'd feel like a proper movie.

On a similar and comparitively pathetic note, a promotional video I made is apparently playing on a loop in the visitors centre of Conisborough castle. It's not very good, but considering what I had to work with it's Schindler's bleedin' List.

I thought this was a very cool trailer. It flowed well and all the shots were great. I was totally impressed with it clean up until I saw the dude with a friggin light saber. That pretty much spoiled the mood for me. Other than that, bravo. 4/5

Ok...So, im going to make this short, but after having watched the trailer again, this looks Really, really entertaining. The film quality leaves a small amount to be desired, but everything else looks awesome. Really some impressive stuff, and the editing is just..YEAH, right on.

Ben- I made that in MS Paint... just TRY explaining that design in words!!!
Essentially, if you ask any science teacher how to build a "Potato Cannon" or "Compressed Air.. thing", he'll help out with the math (most likely).

The music in the trailer is "Nine Inch Nails- Deep". Great band, great song. Harmeet will be remixng the trailer with some original music before the DVD comes out.

Water Explosions:

It's bascially 3 PVC pipes put together in a "U" shape, with a plastic tube going out the foremost pipe. On the pipe-tank section, you gotta have a pressure gauge, and a twist nozzle between the pipe-tank and the tubing.

The tube feeds into another PVC rig, consisting of a few lines of pipes connected together with holes drilled all over. That piece gets submerged underwater, and fills with water. When you release the twist nozzle, the air pressure should create a large water explosion.

Totally safe.

Godfather:
For the fire-explosions we just filled the tube with gas and put a blowtorch at the end of the tube. I DO NOT endorse that method anymore. We were young and stupid- mile high smoke rings... maybe one day I'll relate our SWAT team story... Effects Lab has some great stock explosions... combined with Detonation films you should be fine. Basic pyrotechnics licenses are not too expensive- pick one up and try and do stuff in scale, with miniatures or something.

The car stuff... well.. Ben was driving... I almost DID fall off, because I was still looking for a good grip when Ben did his sharp turn into the frame... Some of the car chase was sped up, but most of it is real-time speed.. just lots of good angles and quick cuts. But yeah- there were several "Wow, I almost died!" moments in Macbeth 3000...

DVD should be available online within a month or two (soooo long, I know!)..

We're going through www.customflix.com It's a great resource for indie filmmakers, because they do online DVD sales, and only make the DVDs as they are purchased.

Right now, we're having some tech issues with the subtitles- they won't turn off in some machines, so we have to send them a second disc. This is a problem because the DVD is subtitled in "mystery", which basically means random people got drunk and had their own interpretations... let's just say you won't want your parents to see the subtitles, kids. Or for that matter, you wouldn't want kids to see it either.

Once we're online with them, I'll be sure to post the links all over.

Thanks!

We're making sure it's of the utmost quality!
Right now, our "mystery subtitles" are not turning off for the distribution company, so we'll be sending them a new disc within the next two weeks. Trust me. You'll want to be ABLE to turn them off. LOL.

Holy crap!

I can't believe it's been so long - this film saw a hiatus through all my years of high school and beyond! I remember going to the trailer for this back in middle school, now I'm in college.

Will definitely give it a watch! biggrin
