Hi guys,

I'm pretty new to this community though I've be viewing and following some things on here over the last few months. My name's Daniel, I'm from the UK, and I've only made one 'live' movie before that was done at college and was someone else's movie. Introduction out of the way smile

I'm planning my (my own that is) first movie, which I may be overshooting in terms of aiming high, but I'm too excited and intent on making it. My budget is about 600 quid to spread over the next few months in terms of prep and buying props. I'm fortunate enough to have friends that are willing to act and appear in my movie so that's one less worry.

As the title suggests, I'm calling out to any willing 3d artists that may help me out. I'm looking for a gunship / transport ship that will be used and feature as the star wars ship (i forget its actual name) did in the Twisted Studios - DXM movie, which is the dogs nads btw if you guys see this biggrin

In case you can't remember it, here's a reminder....
http://www.nuthead-productions.com/gunship.html

I want the movie to contain fully original material and I'm looking for a ship with the side door/s, missile launchers and machine guns to the front. I'd also like it to be a bit grundgier than that if you know what I mean, not sure of any good examples at the moment but i don't want it to be too clean. Maybe a bit knocked up, rusted etc, not too much though as its a police vehicle...if you like.

I'll be animating myself as I find this part easy enough to do due to animation experience. The only reason I'm not learning to model is soley down to lack of time to learn.

I'll also need regular vehicles, like one from 5th element (hover cars biggrin), don't know how much more hassle this is though.

I'll happily pay for the models....just not too much biggrin around 50 pounds to be able to use the model/s freely. This may not be enough but I'm not sure.

Any help/responses/pointers are highly appreciated....and very sorry for the long winded post!

Thanks in advance!

I forgot to mention I'm looking for a huge....or at least big city maybe like the one in DXM so Twisted guys if you have any pointers for me then I'm open to em biggrin Tho i am willing to do the city myself, it'll only be scyscraper views so detail isnt hugely important biggrin but if anyone else is good at cities then let me know too wink

I'll have a bash at the vehicles. Any more info you can give would be really helpful (sketches etc).

I could really do with 50 quid for the new guitar fund wink

Really it all depends on when the CGI work starts and when it needs to be done by.

I put a link to the gunship which is kind of what I'd want, but going more with the descriptions which I also left.

As for the regualr vehicles, I was thinking of 'hover cars' like those in the movie 5th element.

Like this but like taxi's or whatever, I only need about 3 tho as i only need them for setting the scene really...

http://www.jareldesign.com/mainmodels.html

Start on them as soon as you like really, you've got a good 3 months or so at least so don't meak it a priority (which i doubt you will anyway biggrin).

If you like i could try and get some sketches done over the next few days. Work from the stuff i've linked to for now as they'll be similar anyway

Thanks alot!

Yeah this really does need more explaination. What sort of style is it? Boxy mechanical shapes with pipes and wires everywhere (SW Ep 4,5,6) or more sleek flowing shiny shapes (SW Ep 1,2,3)?

Some sketches would help.

Oh and do you want us to post up stuff so you can see how it's going (like Aculag's thread) or just send you final models?

http://www.nuthead-productions.com/gunship.html

thats the model i want it based on. I want the doors on the side so it like a carrier type ship, and need 2 guns to the front and 2 missile launchers, to be used just like in DXM. I want it to look less futuristic than that, maybe blade runner futuristic if u know what i mean. Work from that type of model but movie a few things around .... maybe add some hover jet type engines on the wings or something.

As for the other models, exactly like the police car, but not a police car, just a regular car that hovers, and about 3 of them biggrin

Link to the hover car image...

http://www.jareldesign.com/mainmodels.html

I want them to be realistically futurisitic, a bit scrubby, not too clean, that goes for all of them. I'll try and upload some images asap.

Also after a city but like i said, i'll do that as i know a few boxes with textures arent so hard smile

I'd prefer updates on here if you dont mind, but work as whats best for you.

Thanks alot guys.

I've added a quick drawing for you to work from, I'll redo it with more detail when I get chance, probably over the weekend. It really was quick so dont take the mickey either biggrin

I'd like it to seem panelled a little like the star wars model, but make it more metally to make it more realistic (in my opinion anyway).

Hopefully you can read my writing on there and hope it helps.

cheers.

yes the actual model is, hence why I'm looking to have something similar to it created, and when i say similar, i mean for uses more than design.

hey guys I've added a few more sketches to the design work for this.

http://www.nuthead-productions.com/gunship.html

It's changed since last time and I hope I've not let you run too far with what you may have already done, if you have then carry on if you like biggrin

I'll try doing something with the images in photoshop tonight/tomorrow and see if a can make it all any clearer. Use the markups from my first sketch as to whats what as they're more or less the same.

cheers

Great stuff! that was quicker than I'd hoped for biggrin

I'm not 100% sure on putting images up here, but as far as i know i think you need to have the image online somewhere. Once up, get it's url and do the following...

(without any spaces)

But obviously with the images url in there. You can always email it to me and i can put it up for ya. contact@nuthead-productions.com

If I'm stepping on any ties here and TVM has this covered I'm sorry but I thought I'd post up a small WIP of my version (I won't mind if you wanna handle this by yourself TVM in which case just tell me to sod off biggrin .)

Still a few bumps and creases need to be smoothed out (and the small matter of wings and engines wink)

Enjoy.

Sod off Rawree,... no i'm only joking please dont take offence its just a bit of fun mines gone wrong anyway, when i tried to move the vertexes down to make the wings they wouldn't move so i made the wings to long when i 'extruded from the polygon' and now the wing looks all square

From the look of your pic I'd say you tried to make the wings from the same object as the main....bit. Try making the wings from a separate piece and then attach and weld them afterwards.

If you're still interested in a bit of pocket money there are other models I want as well. I'm also looking for about 3 or 4 models based on the image below to act as civilian vehicles...

I would be able to do this in LightWave, simply chop the bottom off a good car model and then make the hover bit and stick it on but I don't have lighwave anymore and would prefer to work in 3D Max biggrin

I'll leave it up to you, thanks alot though anyway if you decide you've had enough smile
