Cool stuff, its about time the original book was made into a Bond film. I want an unknown to be the new Bond though. As I don't really like the ones who are rumoured to replace Brosnan.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/4236467.stm

I'm all for them digitally doubling Sean Connery in for the whole film.

Hot damn!

Hopefully the writers won't stray from the book too far.

I don't really like the list of potentials, but I like Clive Owen the best thus far. smile

I've always said Clive Owen looked like a Bond. I think he's a good candidate, although I'm positive there's somebody better out there that I don't know of. I just hope Jackman doesn't get the role. Something about Wolverine and Bond....they just don't mix.

I hope the rumored Orlando Bloom doesn't get it. :-\ This is probably not true, but he was said to play a "younger" Bond.

They're going to spoil the original Casino Royale movie for EVERYONE! That is classic comedy, right there.

This could be very cool though. Possibly a return to the Bond movies of old, rather than "show off what we can do with all this flashy stuff and hot babes". Although I'm all for the hot babes.

If I were to make a Bond film, it would be a lot like the 60's ones. HOT!

Edit: BLECH! After reading the article, it looks like we're in for the same old stuff again, minus Brosnan. Oh well, maybe they won't botch it too bad.

Sounds nice. I think Clive Owen or Dougray Scott would fit as the next bond.

Clive Owen is definitely not a bond. He doesn't have any of that suave look required. He looks like a guy who could pull off more of a thuggish role.

Anyways, he just looks too tired all the time. Pierce Brosnan really fit well, as far as I am concerned.

CLive Owen would be terrible, isnt he australian? They should really just forget about putting some famous person in the role and find a noname or less popular actor to play the role.

This article is weird, because ign just reported that the producers were only considering one person, which is "Ioan Gruffudd" (uber unknown)
judging from most pics....it would take quite abit to transform him into bond, whereas brosnan pretty much WAS bond to begin with.

He looks more like bond than all the other choices in the article.

To me, James Bond always was Pierce Brosnan. It would seem wierd to me to watch a bond flik WITHOUT Pierce.

Hugh Jackman would be cool... I love that guy.

Allthough he's hardly a bond... but he's cool anyways. smile

From all the films I've seen Jackman in, he's done a good job acting & has surprised me. I'm thinking he would do a good job...but I think they want Bond to be British because that's part of the iconic image.

Just remember though that Jackman wouldn't be the first Australian to play Bond, although "on Her Majesty's Secret Service" wasn't exactly the best Bond film.

OHMSS would have been cool had they made it with Connery. Also, after checking, purefoy WOULD be awesome. Jackman just has too many huge profile movies. Also, connery was scottish, brosnan is irish, lazenby is australian, meaning that only Moore and dalton were actually british.

I always thought Clive would make the best Bond when I saw him in the BMW Films forever ago. I like Hugh Jackman but i dunno for bond... he can stick w/ Wolverine and i'll be content.

I used to be an expert on all things Bond, Lazenby was from New Zealand possibly, I can't remember. It's possible though that he was born in Wales, like Timothy Dalton. Like I say I'm nowhere near the Bond expert I used to be. I'll check.

If my memory serves, he was a used car salesman at one point, as well as a model and his only prior acting experience was in a Fry's chocolate commercial. But I'm beggared if I can remember where he's from.

Damnit I wish brosnan would come back! I don't like the list of potentials either. Clive Owen is a fine actor, but I can't picture him as the type for playing bond.

IF they want to go more down the edgy / young route then I'd cast Christian Bale. One of the best actors around, has the look, right physical presence, could grow into the role.

Does this mean that Tarantino will be involved? I heard that he had been talking to the producers about doing a Casino Royale movie.

Hav u seen a picture of b4 Brosnan was bond, he had a dirty great Mophead, not exactly bond material now is it...

I think its about time we broke down the sexual barriers that portray Bond as a man, I think Catherine Zeta Jones would make a fine bond... Shes welsh as well... I think

Dude, put the Tequila down and step slowly away from the bottle.

I assume you are joking, so I won't ask you if you have even seen a bond film.

Hey, let's bring back I love Lucy with Vin Diesel starring as Lucille Ball!

Jane Bond would be so different, it wouldn't be a "female bond" it'd be a wholey different character.

Tarantino better not be involved. Bad enough having his name sprawled over "Hero", a film which he only became vaguely involved with about 3 years after it was completed. Don't want to see that name soiling a Bond movie too.

I'm sure he'd love to do that. The average public thinks QT directed or produced Hero. Where as all he did was attach his name to it.

Not as greata guy as I once thought.

I read somewhere on a movie insider site about 3 months ago that Tarantino was in negotiations to do a Casino Royale Bond movie, but that he wasn't sure if it was going to happen. When I saw the name of the new film, I remembered that and it came to mind.

I remember QT mentioning that he was interested in doing Casino Royale on the Conan O'Brien show a while back, like in april
