This topic is probably worn out already but seeing as I am new to this program and finding it very useful and entertaining, I can't help but be a little annoyed with very minimum updates of when Alam DV3 will be released. Is there a ball park figure of when that will occur. If I sound like a whinging bitch then I have my right as the program title does in fact include " DV " and when the visual grade of my footage has to drop because the program does not accept a microsoft DV codec......something is wrong. I embrace this program for what it is but all i ask is for more current updates. Dont mean to rub anyone up the wrong way. Cheers

You'd be right in thinking that this is a frequently asked group of questions, The answers are as follows:

1) AlamDV3 is due out soon, whilst I can't comment on the progress of the beta testing, I can point you to the to-do list which should give you a rough idea of the programs in-code progress.

http://fxhome.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16747

There are many updates as to the programs progress as well as interesting examples of the new systems in place for the new program such as the flare engine, demonstrated recently here:

Down Boy. smile

2) Losing quality due to use of Microsoft DV codec is a problem experienced by quite a few, but the solution is beyond simple. Don't use the Microsoft DV codec biggrin you can export to a normal uncompressed DV in many programs, And if not... downloading the Matrox DV codec and exporting to that will enable you to work with full quality footage.

It's worth noting that AlamDV3 will work with the Microsoft DV Codec.

3) Embrace the program.... You wait til you see AlamDV3, muscled men will have to hold you back from kissing the CSB team.

Asking questions about the programs here won't rub people the wrong way, though you could have found all the answers to the questions you asked by simply looking or using the forum search function.

By answering your questions, I am hoping that other people will find this post in their search results. smile

Take care, I hope I've helped.

Hybrid's answered your questions already, but I thought I'd just confirm/clarify a few points...

Don't forget to keep an eye on the news section - we've been keeping people regularly informed of the current status of the program's development. There are lots of posts with information on AlamDV3, including the delays, as we try not to leave people in the dark.

There's even a To-Do list which shows the progress of the program in real-time. While we don't want to release a specific date yet, that should give a fair indication of what kind of timescale we're talking.

Sorry about the wait, it isn't long to go now!
