Well if you buy 2 now, then you end up paying a lot less then buying 3 later. I run 2 on OSX and it seldom gives me problems. It has to do with Classic OS, but this will be resolved in 3.

We don't recommend that OS X users run AlamDV2, although some like Deepcoiler seem to get along fine. AlamDV3 has been specifically designed with OS X in mind, however, and will also carry a higher price tag in the end, so it might be a good idea to buy now with the free upgrade. It shouldn't be too long now anyway.

So it all depends right now if you want to spend more $$. I have alam dv2, but dont use it. I bought it so i could get 'DV3 for free. I use it when i need too, but all the special effects that i want are put on hold till alamdv3. So you can buy it now and not use it, then get the free upgrade later and use it .

Poor AlamDV2. Nobody wants it smile

Actually, it's a great program & remember it probably won't be available once v.3 comes out. I'm sure I will still find uses for it...

I say get DV2 now. You will save the money and have a great limited edition memory on your hard drive. I am keeping it to maybe look at, compare etc for old time's sake.

I bought Alam DV2 a couple of years ago, in response to one of those invitations that said "Buy it now, and get DV3 for FREE when it comes out VERY SOON."
Many, many months have passed with no DV3, and I recently learned that Particle Illusion SE is available for for $99. Great little program! ("Full" version costs several hundred bucks, but the SE version is fine for what I do.)

I'll get my DV3 free upgrade if it does eventually come out, but I've basically decided to switch away from the product... the FxHome folks seem like veyr enthusiastic & friendly technologypeople, but the "business" end of things (delivery on schedule, etc.) just doesn't seem to work.

Whats stopping you from using DV2? Just save every few minutes and it will work just fine on macs smile . It is also a very different situation now than when people told you that in the past. We now have a whole list of things to be completed with 94% already finished. Also AlamDV and Particle Illusion are different types of programs. Particle illusion is a particle generator. AlamDV does all sorts of effects--muzzle flashes, light sabers etc-- and it even includes a particle engine, although not as intense as particle illiusions.

No because alamDV2 is old and does not represent the quality of programs that they can now make.
