Hey, I have been messing around with the lightsword plugins..and I was wondering which one is the best and closest to ILM's. I'm entering the rotoscoping contest and I'll post that in General, but can i have a direct link to the best plugin? I downloaded a few that look fine, but they are more than a frame long. I can cut them down, but the large bar is still there taking up space on the timeline. So, just recommend a few..thanks!

Since Tarn is entering some AlamDV3 footage into the Rotoscoping competition over there, I'd advise giving up now. Though it'd be good seeing how the two programs compare.
I'm not personally sure if there is a sure best lightsaber plugin, but that may well because I've never paid hideous amounts of attention to them. I'd advise trying them all out briefly and seeing which you are happiest with. After all, it is your submission to the rotoscoping contest and not the programs

We would rather nobody enters anything from AlamDV2 as it can only look bad compared to someone spending hours in AfterEffects.
AlamDV3 should look as good as anything else out there and be much quicker - Tarn is using the AlamDV3 beta for the competition.

Zea - it's cool that you want to use one of our products to enter the contest, but let me explain our reasoning for preferring you not to.
AlamDV2 is several years old now, and does not represent our current level of quality, as you will all shortly discover when AlamDV3 is unleashed. We don't want to be promoting AlamDV2 at all, as it will give people the wrong impression of the program and where we're at now.
Bear in mind that only a small portion of the internet visits FXhome regularly and knows the status of AlamDV3 and our other developments. To everyone else, they'd see an AlamDV2 clip and presume that's the current level, when we can actually do much, much better.
It's not a reflection on your skills at all, it's just that we know much better results can be accomplished with AlamDV3.
By giving TFN (a very prominent website when it comes to Star Wars and fanfilms in general) a clip from a very old program, it could potentially turn people away and cost us sales, which in turn could harm future development of the programs and FXhome.
If we submit an AlamDV3 clip on its own, on the other hand, it could create interest and help sales. I hope you see our point of view on this one, sorry to have to be such party-poopers.

Alrite i agree with you totally. But as I'm working on this..it is looking as good as a Photoshop or AE job (I used to use those before alamdv2) Ill PM or IM you first..and you can tell me if its good enough to submit. I could also say i used photoshop during the submission, and not give any credit to fxhome if thats what you want. But either way, ill show you the completed vid before submission. Thanks

Saying you used Photoshop when you actually used AlamDV2 would null the whole point of TFN's contest.
Of course, no one can stop you from submitting but CSB have made valid points. Any submissions made for the contest act as an ambassador for the creator of the effects. I personally would prefer the ambassador for AlamDV to be v.3 & not 2. It could confuse people there to have entrants using AlamDV2 & AlamDV3. Seriously.

Man, what's wrong with the good ol' MS Paint
I make all my plugins with-it...
