Just wondering what your studio names are? Also: is there a technical difference between Studios and Productions, or is it just a matter of what sounds/looks better? Feel free to post your studio logo smile Would love to see them!

I'm a cinema. (New Era Cinemas)

And other people could be media. (Hamm Media)

Just whatever suits it.

Somehow New Era Productions doesn't sound quite so.... flowing.

Muahaha.

“Irish Acts Recording Studio” here but we don’t deal with Video as such. Just music as in recording bands, producing music and sound design.

We mostly just sell sounds for synth’s at the moment.

Two Gunned Saint Films, that, as you may have gathered is where I got my username from.

It was Two-Gunned Saint Films, but I got rid of the dash. I toyed around with Two-Gunned Cinema for a while.

Designed a cool logo, not made a proper one yet, too busy making films you see. smile

Officially, it's been Scope-Entertainment for about three years now (company name, bank records blah blah blah stuff).

It was first Scope Productions, but the double "P" didn't flow.

I've toyed with Scope-Films for my movies (as in, my site is www.scope-films.com) and i've used Scope-Studios for locations in credits. but yeah, officially, it's Scope-Entertainment as i deal in more than just film.

a bit off topic but i made all of those movies in flash. the invaded wars movies were done using sprite sheets (graphics from the games being know as sprites) Each sprite taken from the sheets and made into movie clips in flash....then the animation created smile

Thanks for the comments wink

NoControl Cinema

Because we couldn't call ourselves Teen Pictures anymore when we became 20... unsure

In retrospect, even though "NCC" makes a good tag, the "NoControl" part gave rise to some misunderstandings and some people wondered if we were anarchic or something. smile

Actually Pooky, it was your logo and that silly "banana phone" song at the end of your 99 Red Balloon remake that caused me to ask the question.

I will begin working on mine in After Effects soon. Still trying to figure out exactly how I want the animation to go. --> Bucket Studios

I demand you take that back at once!

Bananaphone, by Raffi, is in NO WAY 'silly'. It's clearly a very powerfull and emotive piece of art in the form of music, from a great, nay, the best Canadian musician who has ever lived!

wink

Well, you see, I had just finished working on a college piece called "Felonies" that was in 3 acts. The first was Burglary in which my main actor broke into a house and stole a bunch of bananas. The second act was 2nd degree murder by banana, and the 3rd act was 1st degree murder by banana. So anything to do with bananas was on my mind at the time.

That, and I'm Canadian. So I have the inherent right to call anything produced in Canada silly. Or boring as the case often is. (But cool, I didn't know that came from there smile )

Out of interest, what are the inspirations behind your names? I know the origins of some of them but not all.

Mine, Lucibel, is just one I thought of randomly & liked the sound. Then I found out it means 'beautiful light' & can be rearranged to form Lie Club & Blue Ice.

The whole Shadow/Light name came about because of a doodle of a Rabbit casting a shadow on the floor and for some reason thought up the name Shadow/Light (I was meant to be learning about electrolysis, hoorya for random distractions.)

at school (all those years ago.....im 21 and i sound old already) we all had names for each other. Not nick names, abusive names, but not so abusive (not to the person they were named at anyway).

For instance, we had a chinese friend, so he was chinky/chonkey etc etc (please and chinese dont take offense!), another one had this little 'tail' of hair at the back of his head, so he was mr bobble, and had big ears and was as thick as pig sh*t so he was wingnut....the list goes on.

Anyways, i used to hair long hair and randomly chopped it off one day and they made me out to have a head shaped like a nut...so i'm nuthead. A bit lame really cos i think everyones heads are shaped like nuts, they just didnt have a name for me biggrin

NuttyBanana is a story that extends from that one...and a story for another day smile

Two Gunned Saint was a phrase that appeared in my head one day, when I was planning a short movie inspired by that Van Damme flick "Desert Heat"/"Inferno"/"Coyote Moon" which is in turn a remake of Akira Kurosawa's "Yojimbo" a samurai homage to John Ford westerns, ironically remade by Sergio Leone as a european western "A Fistfull of Dollars", and by Walter Hill as the Bruce Willis vehicle "Last Man Standing".... anyways, I digress, sorry about that.

It was just a phrase that appeared, kinda clicked and I decided to call the film that, but I was afraid that it'd take me too long to make the film and it was a phrase that was so cool, someone'd be bound to think of it sooner or later. So I just decided to use it as soon as I could, just before anyone else thought of it.

I was trying to think of a new name for my little joke production company, which I had in a haste named Apocalypse Productions, 'cos I needed something to write on the side of the video box, (took me all of a second to come up with) and the rest is history, only on a very small scale.

Problem is it sounds weird when you read it at the start of a romantic comedy or something.

Lucibel is possibly the coolest word ever.

Ah, I used to love Raffi...

Anywho, CPO Studios started when I was 7 and I made these puzzles. The company that made them (my own made up one) was decided based on my name: Conor Patrick O'Sullivan. So, er, it has been that ever since and I love it, no regrets. It just stuck and I think it kinda flows: CPO Studios. smile

Well, I do stuff for two production teams.

The first is LS:TV, which is Leeds Student Television, where I'm currently the Head Entertainment Editor. Here's our logo:

I think our name's pretty self explanitory, heh. The TV society used to be called Leeds University Union Television (LUUTV), but there was a re-launch a while ago, when we re-branded as LS:TV.

The second team I'm part of is a smaller group, "SMG". We don't have a logo just yet, but we're working on it.

We chose SMG because it's the initals of the three main members - Sam (who directed 'The Idiot's Guide to Film Making'), Maz and myself (Geggs) - oh, and it sounds cool wink

Cheers,
Arktic.

Well my orgin:

In 1996 on a rainy day in Holland in the city Venlo

My neighboor showed up. (we where 5 years old) (don't laugh)
And we started to make our own company.

And we started drawing cars.
And we called the company RRF

Roel
Remco
Frederique

P.S.: Frederique was another friend.

And a few years later, we started to make movies.

So, then we started RRF Productions.

That was my story, thanks

I just went with the following.

I know it's kinda vague, but in context it works.

P.S. Sorry it's so big, didn't have a chance to resize it. biggrin

A little late but '1020 Productions' (pronounced ten-twenty, not one thousand twenty. My name can be hyphenated to 10-20 Productions, too.)

Why 10-20?

Just finished editing a short movie and I was adding in credits. I needed a name for my production company, so I looked at the clock and it was 10:20 P.M.. Pretty cool, eh?

P.S.- I know this topic has been dead for almost a year, but I wanted to bring it back for the new members (like me) to post in. So don't get mad at me. wink

Our temporary name is "Perpetually Disturbed Productions". The name kind of speaks for itself...um..yeah. It was formed on the day we made a short movie (our first official one as well) called If Imagination Could Kill. I attempted uploading it using a direct link from archive.org, but that failed.

We still need to decide an official name that doesn't convince the viewer of our movies that we're axe-wielding maniacs escaped from a lunatic asylum. I've had ideas, but nothing big came up. We need one soon, though, for an upcoming film... biggrin

Well, I had "Stone Giant Productions (or Pictures)" for awhile but now I'm torn between that and "Peace Time Productions (or Pictures)". They are both relitively cool but I have no Idea which one I will like in the long run.
I've got to figure it out before the release of my first big film too biggrin !

Though I haven't come up with a name yet, I prefer 'Films' to 'Productions' or 'Studios'.

I've toyed with the idea of calling it somethinglike 'Terrible Films' or 'Do Not Watch These Films'.

I'm just looking for something a bit different.

When I was eleven, I made Dragonfang Productions. When I was twelve, I changed to Whirlpool Productions, then changed again and was Vortex Media for a couple months.

When I was thirteen, I wanted an original name that has never been used; Dragonfang turned out to be a "Online retailer of role-playing game accessories", Whirlpool Productions is a band (WTF?), and Vortex [insert suffix here] has been used a million times. Need proof? Look two posts above.

I had gone to my local zoo a couple months prior, and their was a really cool owl there. Seriously. He was coolest frickin' owl EVER!!! I thought of 'Rogue Owl Productions', but then shortened it to 'Rogolo Productions'. (Months later, I learned that Rogolo is a small town in Italy.)

I'm firelight Movies. There isn't really a story/meaning behind the name, it was when I first started geting into movies, firefly movies, which evolved to Fire Light Movies, and then back at the beginning of last year it evolved again to firelight Movies, thanks to the help of some of the guys here smile

But I suppose the reason is beacuse I like fire effects. When it comes to fire effects/explosions I am very interested in them and they way they look and I just love the way they look.

But also I just liked the way it sounds smile

Bumpy Rhoads and Narrow Lane Productions.

Named after my partner, Mr. Rhoads, and myself (Mr. Lane). We thought it was catchy. No logo yet though.

I have COMV Productions for my "business" which is movies, video games, and websites all combined and COMV Films is for my movie's specificaly. But no one can pronounce COMV. I hear Com-Vee, Cumva, and some other weird things. But it is COMV with the M and V combined. Weird Huh.
