Do you need a green screen to clone?

Do I need a green screen to clone if I put both backgrounds on top of eachother? If so, would the Chrominator program be worthless to me if I don't have a green screen?

You don't need a greenscreen for cloning. Try the demo and try some of the tutorials, like this one:
