Hi, I'm currently buzy with making a movie about the hacker: Warpz...
Yes, that's that guy who's trying to hack FXHome and Hotmail accounts.

In the movie I've played the hacker (because I'm 13 to).
In the movie there will be a 1 min 40 long lightsaber fight. I'm currently buzy with the lightsaber effects...

The title: : "Warpz"

Well that's my current project.

And how about you ?

Right now, im busy helping out an independant film production company with their 3rd feature film, "Fixed", which focuses on one night in the lives of serveral characters who are forever changed by the decisions they make. It deals with redemption and human sacrifice.
We're finishing up the preproduction stage of it right now, and filming is set to begin in April for about a month.

I'm also working on my first "real" short film. I don't want to give out too much information about it, but I've just finished tthe forth draft. It deals with greed, and someone trying desperatly to take their life back.

Once Fixed is finished shooting, the company will be helping me with my project.

Other than that, its the same old boring school projects, which seem to always be review. unsure

well, my local Camcorder club.. (Read... lots of old people who make badly filmed holiday videos and then inflict them on people) have asked me to do a presentation on Special and Visual effects (noting the difference from a previous post)..

So, I am currently preparing some scenes from a fake 1930's action adventure sci-fi series.. "The Adventures of Dirk Derring-do" that will demonstrate things like.. miniatures, in-camera effects, physical effects, Matte paintings, back projection etc..

and then bring it up to date with the same scenes filmed from the recent television series "The Adventures of Dirk Derring-do" Using modern effects techniques... compositing, 3d work (To improve upon the washing up bottle spaceship), camera tracking and particles etc...

Except that I am then going to reveal that most of the "original series" is a complete fake and introduce them to colour correction, cloning etc..

Its going to be hard work, but Ive got until September....

Any ideas anyone thinks would be fun to do.. feel free...
(It cant be too horrifying though, I cant have an audience of geriatric movie makers dropping dead on me mid presentation.. they can wait until afterwards)

I'm putting the finishing touches on some animated previsualization sequences for a new car safety system that is being introduced to manufacturers and media agencies in Canada and the United States.

Mainly, I'm working on a music video for a independent band here in Ontario. Mostly previz stuff again until I get back the beta footage. The bands record label wants the team i'm working with to do a good job, so they can introduce more contracts for us, which would be great. More exposure for them, more money for us. Everyone benifits. We're also working closely with the label so we can get the video aired on Much Music Canada. I hate restrictions. unsure

In the small breaks I have between those two projects, i'm assisting in VFX concepts for a small indie film, sort of an outer limits esque thing. Calls for a slow and gradual dusting of the main character ala Buffy/Angel and Blade (much slower though). Makes me shudder, but the end result should be really awsome.

I just finally finished a promotional video, which was several months late but it took about 7 days, cost me over 130 quid and I had to sleep in a field. So I think I'm excused for getting it late and they couldn't pay me. However I filmed for four days, sometimes with two cameras. I used one day/one cameras worth of footage and cut it into a 7 minute video. They want me to cut the rest of it, but I think a bit of money'd be in order. smile

I'm discussing various simple projects with my mates.

I know a guy who's writing a huge sci-fi script, which I may direct.

My Heroic Bloodshed Opus, "Sunset in A Beretta's Eye" draws, slowly ever closer to completion. However with the two of the main actors going away soon, I'm on a permanent knife-edge of adrenaline to get it completed. Fingers crossed.

I'm currently shooting "Elise", my 40% final due very, very soon.

It's a completley new type of film for me: Drama with a hint of Romantic-Comedy. No visual effects, just those two...what do they call them? Oh! Acting and story. Yeah. this one has those.

I'm working on a feature- length movie called "Paradox."

I've been writing it for the past year and a half, storyboarding for the last 3 months and now I'm working on composing music.

Star Com:

"In the future, NASA no longer exists, and instead there is an organization called Star Com. Star Com has discovered secrets in space travel and in the year 2983, Star Com established a space station as their headquarters. At this time they began to send starships out of the solar system and began to uncover information that had long been wanted. Though shortly after this a large portion of Star Com went to mutiny. Times were harsh and all Star Com ships had to be armed. The president of Star Com wanted now, more than ever, to prevent war. Many ships had been disappearing along with supplies. But surprisingly, in the year 2987, it stopped. Everything seemed to be normal and on March 23, 2987, Star Com began running regularly. Everything was fine, until a ship was planned to be sent to unknown portion of the galaxy, in fact so far, it seemed that in that decade, Star Com had become to risky. Two powerful lawyers were sent to settle the matter but had no luck. These were the ways of Grant, the new president of Star Com. Many are worried about the safety of the expedition. Though the ship remained fine for the first few days, it seemed though the whole world, was constantly watching every flash of news that would appear about it. And sure enough, the next day, the disaster struck. Before Star Com lost contact, they reported a matter about enemy ships. What ended up of this was fear of space travel, by the entire origination…"

Currently in pre-production. Shooting may begin late in the year but probaly next year. I'm alsmost done with the storyline, so now its just writing the script.

Star Wars: Episode 3.5-Time Attack:

"The Republic has been crushed by the Empire, and Palpatine has escaped from corocant and been declared emperor by Imperial troops. All that remain of the Jedi are Obi-Wan and Yoda, save two young padawans, news that has not yet reached the Emperor. One of his most vital plans in destroying the scattered regiments of the Republic is through detonaters placed throughout the galaxy in all cities that support the Old Republic. Little does he relize that two padawans have been dispatched to secretly board an Imperial control ship and locate the bombs. This with a move to disactivate them, the Republic may have enough time to form a Rebellion and bring peace to the galaxy..."

Pre-Production is almost finished. Work on this should start in the summer.

Island of the Dinosaurs:

I was almost thorugh writing a novel when I thought I should make it into a movie. Not sure when this will be done, but the effects will take a long time. Here's an expert from the novel:

"Ounce upon a time in the city of San Diego a scientist named Watson Smith sat in a chair in the corner of his dimly lit apartment room reading a book. He was tall, with brown hair and lightly polished glasses. Watson was a paleontologist who had ounce heard the rumor of an Island on which Dinosaurs had somehow survived their extinction.
Most people believed that it was some crazy story made up by the survivors of the 1917 incident, when a small military group camped there for a night. They returned with a few survivors, most of which claimed to have seen Dinosaurs. Hardly a person who came upon the island never returned.
“ Tomorrow will be a rough day,” he said out loud. He calmly shut his book and set it on the table.

The next morning Watson drove to work with his friend, Mark Brooks. Both Watson and Mark believed the story of the island and for the past three years, they had been trying to get enough money to launch a research team to prove their was dinosaurs and also to collect valuable information paleontologists had been chasing for years. Watson did not realize an adventure of danger and luck was coming towards him. They had been trying to get a wealthy man, Grant to help, and when they arrived that morning; he seemed to still be just as stubborn.
“I’m not going to fund a team, that I personally, don’t believe will make money, or information not currently known!” Grant said in a half- shouting tone.
Watson stood up, trying to come up with something to contradict it that would cause some effect. “If it doesn’t do-“ Watson started but Grant interrupted, “Can you promise me anything?” he said much more calmly than his first remark, but it still didn’t sound pleasant.
They froze. Mark stared at both for a second then smiled; he hastily stood up and shot “If the research doesn’t get the information that can bring prophet,” He paused, “ we’ll pay you back an equal amount, plus an extra fifteen percent,”
Although, they had reached an agreement, Watson’s smile was uncomfortable, as he knew if it didn’t work out, they would owe Grant an unplayable debt.
“Don’t worry,” said Mark with a grin on his face, “If it does work out, it’ll be worth it.”
“We’ll see,” returned Watson’s tired sounding comment, trying not to show his worry.

The next day they walked through the facility in which the team got ready for departure. Sparks were everywhere. But they did not notice that David, a kid of age thirteen, who had dark brown eyes and matching hair, crawled into a plane for hiding. With him he carried a small backpack, which he always had with him in case of an emergency.
David was an orphan. After the death of parents, he went to his parent’s friend’s house to stay. David however, did not like their type of life; they were all but adventurous, making sure everything was perfectly safe and risk free. After a year, he had had enough. David ran away and thought sneaking on to a plane headed for a never explored island had some reward ahead.
David sat speechless. He still could hear the sounds of heavy equipment being tested, then loaded into the transports. David sat there for over an hour, but to him it seemed only five minutes. Before long, he heard a rumbling sound of an engine, and they were off. David felt the plane moving upwards. He slowly began to smile. He had never felt this exited in his life. He looked through the nearest window as land began to fade from view then turned towards the ocean and took a deep breath. The excitement made the hours fly by like minutes. Then he heard a voice “Look!” the voice said in amazement “There it is!” David quickly spun towards the other window to find a huge island! The nearer they got to the island the more excitement he felt. Then he saw dinosaurs! “Could this be real?” he thought rubbing his eyes. The research team gathered as planes and helicopters flew in the air with there engines roaring loudly as the helicopters let down jeeps by long ropes and other vehicles while ships came parking on the bay. Then David felt the plane touch the ground. He spun his head downward just in time to conceal himself from a tall man getting out of the plane; then he heard him say, “Let’s set up our camp beyond that hill, shall we?” “Ok!” answered another voice. David wiped the sweat off his face.
Meanwhile, Watson called Scotter one of his favorite paleontologists aboard the large vessel nearly to it’s destination. He steadily answered the phone and whispered “Watson! Is that you?” he asked in a surprised tone of voice and Watson answered back “ yeah how is it doing over there?” “Well there is one thing for sure!” Scotter said excitedly. “What?” said Watson acting eager to find out, though he half-guessed already. “Its real” Scotter said as if Watson didn’t want to know. “It is? You found it?” Watson asked. “Its- Its- there’s- Dinosaurs Watson” Scotter said in excitement. And just then Watson heard a sound that sounded like a herd of animals and then he heard the phone hit the floor with the sound of breaking glass then suddenly he heard a loud crash and a shriek for help and then suddenly he could no longer hear his friend and could no longer hear the crashes and noises from the island."

It's just the prolouge or first chapter. If your interested I'll post the whole novel so far.

Anway these are my projects for 2005.

Hey guys, i am new to the fxhome.com family, but i am just starting on my first film. Of course, its a star wars flick but i think the idea behind it will make it a good one. Its called Star Wars: Disturbance in the force, but the name might change its going to based around a story of two jedi brothers. Anyways i was wondering if anyone can help me out with effects issues and other tips and tricks, i have made movies beofre just none with speical effects to this amount, so i do have some sort of knowledge of postioning and lighting. either way i am using after-effects 6.0 ad alamdv2. and Ulead editing and capturing which just plain sucks. so if you have anything i can use please reply

Welcome Saber 132!

I'm stuck in the middle of everything, waiting for the snow to go away to shoot the final scene for Lajf.

Other then that I'm doing the last editing on a movie for a schoolclass nearby, it's about 6 people stuck on a bus-stop, it's supose to present various typical Swedish personalites. The schoolclass is taking it on a trip to Brussel as some kinda project., it'll end up on ajpictures.se later on.
Other then that I'm just writing short storys, reading some books watching a bunch of deep movies and relaxing with 2 months school left before the summer break which i've planned doing some 'joints'.

Is this the one you thought up ages ago? If it is will you still need CG work done (now free of charge as a valued FXHomer)?

Finish a movie we've had in production for more than a year now, Hitmen. You all may remember a not-so-impressive trailer I put in the cinema for it last May. Hopefully we can get that done soon, then my and my other friend (one I havent worked with before) will be writing and shooting a comedy/drama short to submit to film festivals in 2006. It should be a step up from what I do now, working with real actors and an actual budget.

All of my projects are at scriptwriting stage at the moment:

2 hour fact based drama about the IKEA riots

star wars fanfilm (been writing it for 4 years)

Spoof sci-fi that may end up being a game fanfilm

There's the whole of next term to worry about too...

I'm also involved in a couple of summer projects, directing a short about a phonecall, and sound designer on a short with an as-yet unfinalized script.

Cool, I've been waiting for that "Hitmen" movie, looked kinda cool.

"Pain Killer" has me salivating already, I thought your Recon movie looked cool, but Space ships and aliens really aren't my thing. Urban action thrillers, contemporary, melodramatic, with a devil's load of shooting in and stripclubs really are, and urban vigilante movie's really are damn cool too. I recently started watching a load, I've seen the 2004 Punisher flick too many times and keep on watching "Mad Max" and "Man on Fire". Last week I watched "Death Wish" followed immediatly by "Death Wish II", an hour or two after that I watched "Death Wish III", followed directly by "Death Wish IV" unfortuneatly this has resulted in my spending the past week living in some seedy downtown hotel in a funny hat. But if you worked for Royal Mail you'd have an urge to kill mankind too, you just got to get rid of what's pent-up.

The Leather trenchcoat, vigilante must have item of the year, Charles Bronson's hat. You seem to know the genre.

Oh yeah, does anyone realise that the ending of "Death Wish III" has one of the most insane, exciting and fantastic action sequences ever filmed. The first one's not really an an action movie, the second one has a couple of small but cool action scenes, the third one... on my god, full blown war movie, it's delirious.

Also, there is a movie called "Vigilante in the Funky Hat" there's possibly also a "Vigilante in the Funky Hat 3000". Just thought you might like to know.

That is all.

Ha, I didnt think anyone would remember it, hardly anyone commented on it in the cinema. It should be done very soon. We have finally just recasted the lead role of Ricky and we start shooting again on this upcoming Saturday. We hope to have it compeltely done by the end of May, hopefully sooner.

I'm about to go into final stages of post for Macbeth 3000 with the other guys. We'll be making a few fake trailers simultaneously, for the release of the movie, July 15th 2005 in Toronto.

For updates on Macbeth3000, visit:

www.superguncinema.com

It's not "finished" yet, but the site is going to get a major upheaval in a few weeks, when we start advertising.
Anyone in the Toronto area, we'll be at the Bloor cinema at Bloor and Bathurst, and we're going for a packed house (850 seats), so if you email one of us, we'll put you on a pre-order list so we can reserve seats.

IKEA riots? Pray tell.
22 people were injured when the IKEA in Edmonton opened. People were fighting over the limited supply of leather sofas for £45 and they had to close the store. The North Circular was gridlocked for hours...

Current projects for me are the same as they have been for the past six months, except with a few major advancements; and the fact that our crew got Adobe Premiere recently, along with some other equipment (memory cards, tripods). Oh, well, here they are:

Hitman and Maletti
A slightly obsessive compulsive hitman whose job is at its peak gets a partner in crime, an ADD foreign-language-speaking 'Rain Man' type character, dubiously named "Maletti". Production is almost done, and I think it'll come out pretty good.

and my major film,

The Friendship
This is of course my MAJOR film, conception on this film has taken since last summer when we first shot some test footage to develop an acceptable script. Through pre-production- which is almost done- I've discovered alot of helpful things that could really aid the production process:I got the rights to use a family friend's band's album in my film, had a musical score composed for the film, did some tests in Terragen, and built several camera rigs to achieve angles that I previously couldn't have.

But down to the story. The Friendship is a film that will hopefully push the limit on morality. It's sort of a coming-of-age story about two teens who go on a camping trip over the summer to 'get away from it all' if you will. Well, one of the boys- Chris- has manifested a late-blooming case of schizophrenia, which, ultimately, without the assistance of medication, drives him to insanity. I don't really want to give away that much of the story, but I can tell you that the script is solid and the movie will rock you. If you spend enough time on something, it will be good. The script of the Friendship is a shining example of that. I will hopefully be posting more about this film once production starts in April, but until then, I'm gonna have to keep things under wraps.

If you're interested, here's the teaser trailer:

A friend and I just did a first cut of the storyboard for a medium-length project. The working title is "Skeleton"; it's a Twilight Zonish, Night-Stalkerish SF story low on effects and action, but -- we think -- with a good story.

Assuming we can get a cast and find the locations, we should start shooting sometime this spring or summer. If anyone's in the Cincinnati area and interested...

Macbeth 3000 will be coming out on DVD, but not until we do a festival circuit.

Might be a year, but we'll post festival dates too.
The DVD will be cool... I should upload the test for the menu...

Hmmm... maybe I will do that...

The actual disk (double sided maybe) will have special features:
The making of
Bloopers/outtakes
King Lear 2000 (short film)
Hamlet (short film)
etc.

This is all subject to change, but I figured I'd whet your appetites.

When it comes out will you be able to send it overseas? I was encapsulated by the trailer and would really love to see it. I'd pay full price and P&P.

For sure- anyone who wants Macbeth, gets Macbeth.
We'll set up the whole shebang in May when we're all back from our different corners of the world.

I know we're mailing copies to Scotland eventually, anyway... Scottish play in scotland? Sounds good to me.
So, yeah, wherever, whoever... it'll be around.

Ben3308: "The Friendship" sounds quite interesting, however remember contrary to popular belief just 'cos you've got a good script doesn't necessarily make the film good. I'm sure you know this already but just be careful, if people aren't delivering the great lines well, and the director and editor mess up the great story, that 'aint great. So don't relax. But I'm sure you figured that out.

It sounds like a film largely devoid of action, science fiction or fantasy, just pure drama, (I may be wrong, there may be aliens and ninja in it as well) which is cool, just take care not to get swept up in pretensions. Back in the day all anyone on this site really tried to make was short genre films, then there was a moving towards trying "serious" films without fighting or special effects. smile I get the feeling that alot of people do this so they can "be taken seriously as an artist" 'cos they get caught up in pretentiousness. Now they made a movie in black and white with no lasers or spin-kicks they're somehow better filmakers. Also I noticed on your profile you're only 16, this is a tricky age, not that long ago for me, it's way easier to become a bit poncy, pretentious and self-indulgent and doing that at such a young age makes it even worse and also cringeworthy later on.

I may be wrong, you might be making a totally different type of film than what I picked up from your post. But just a little heads up.

I'm not trying to discourage you and I'm not pretending to know the meaning of life here. You seem like a smart kid but just be careful of becoming aloof 'cos you tried serious films. But yeah, cool, good luck and it sounds good.

Oh yeah, I digged the trailer.

And I want MacBeth.

Yeah, my own simple movie's coming along okay in pre-production. Had some good ideas. My mate told me his 4 laws of life, I thought we could base the film on them. We've had loads of ideas, maybe I'll shoot something in Spain. But I want to shoot something very easy and simple.

I also have an idea for a film which takes place singly or mainly on buses. It's just that many interesting things happen to me on the bus, key moments in relationships and you meet some crazy people, I think there's some good comic and dramatic potential. E.g. Met this girl at the bus stop other week, we talked, hit it off, everything was going cool, 3 minutes later I'm thinking "how did this get so bad, so fast?" she may now think I'm the yorkshire ripper. (You know how it is guys, you find a bag of kittens, you want to prove how strong you are... sh@t happens).

I always take my bad experiences and turn them into something, that way I deal with them, they no longer become bad and sometimes, something bad's happened to me and I think "brilliant, I can put this in a film".

I've already written a little scene from a different film about that weird bus-travelling meditation that sometimes happens. You know, you have a bit of free time to think so you sit, staring out the window at the moving scenery, then you get off and you can't remember what you were thinking about.

I just got to finish this other film first and avoid getting swept up in a wave of pretensions when I do make it smile . But hopefully it'll be a cool, breezy, relatable and most importantly, simple film.

I'm working on a script right now.
Deals with some guy who accidentally (but not unintentionally) kills himself, goes to heaven, and is sent back to Earth as a conscience.
There's a lot more to it, but I'm not giving it away yet!!

Thank you for the comments. I know exactly what you mean about having a good script, but not necessarily a good movie. I'm the Director of Photograph on this film, and I can tell you now, we've been storyboarding for almost a year, it will (hopefully) be technically perfect. And my brother- whom I have total faith in- is editing, which is his 'specialty', so to speak. I am not going to release the film in black and white nor am I going to pretend that I am a better filmmaker than I am; I simply am going to make a movie, and how good it comes out is how good it comes out. The four main people in my crew all decided that while we're filming, if something cannot be done right- either technically or 'acting-wise', then it just won't be done. There's no point in spending alot of time on something if you know it'll turn out bad. Again, thanks for your comments, they encourage me. Oh, and if I haven't already said so, one of our four core crew members- Brian- is a professional actor; he even took a year off of school to work on some Miramax indie film. The Friendship will be good and not pretentious, Two_Gunned, I promise you.

And well that's all for now.
Cheers, Ben

I'm looking at this list and most people are doing 3 or more movies at one time. I tried doing that for awhile and I would lose interest in one and one would mess up and in the end I had spent a lot of time and gotten nothing done. You do you guys multitask with movies like that? For me the best way to go is one movie at a time so I don't lose interest in a project, but obviously it's different for everyone else.

I have to do it that way for the scriptwriting process. When I get stuck on one (or lose motivation) I move onto the next. Otherwise I'd get precisely nothing done.

Having said that, the game fanfilm/spoof scifi film has been in pre for about 15 years!

I've got 1 main script in the works, a done one that I'm waiting a few weeks to re-edit, several pages from several other scripts that I just need inspiration to finish, and about a million concepts.
I think, when you get around to filming them, as long as one prson dedicates themselves soley to that project, you can multi-task... as long as you're careful.

Well I'm in the last stages of editing of my long time, dream. A movie that has taken my free time for the past 16 months. Well it's a mixture of clayanimation using Stop Motion Pro and real life footage. Plus effects done with Chromy, AlamDV, 3D animations and real models. It was written in December 2003 and shooting started the same month, as all shooting was done at my (studio) carage on green screen. Shooting really took us a couple of weeks but 3d models and animation and combining real life footage with cg did take me a long time. Hope it will be finishe by mid May so I will participate in our local Movie film competition.
Wish me luck.

I do it for learning. For example, I am making a movie and it was pretty basic, I am making another and I learned a new cool thing for editing and what not, maybe apply it to the other movie. Also, I usually need to have a couple in pre, usually just one in prod, and a few in post. Hopefully before summer all will be done but Calamity.

Well, I personally am only working on one movie at a time, "Sunset" is my current movie, but if I get an idea for a different one, I'm not going to totally ignore it am I. Besides I've got a very long attention span.

Perhaps that's just how he communicates, it the internet equivilent of communicating via coloured pieces of paper and a series of honking noises - standard practice is to put these people in the corner to play with their mittens wink .

I'm beginning to notice that I havn't contributed anything of much use today...

As Ben stated earlier, we are working on our next film

The Friendship.

A dark, coming-of-age story involving two friends who are forced on a deeply emotional, physical, and spiritual journey. Our first chance to brush the 'drama' genre, and, hopefully, make an impact in the film community.

Oh, and even though it's not up to me, anybody have another title that might go well? I never particularly like(d) the name "The Friendship". I kinda' feel it gives people the wrong image. Ideas, from what you've read, for a title?

Hey! What about "Deliveran-" .........nah, that's already taken.

When I said it was my dream I meant to include in one movie the ability of clayanimation, real life acting 3d graphics mand animation. I'm in no way considering my film a winner, but!!! If a place is given I will be more than happy.
Thanks for your encouragement.

"Emmanuelle of Toad Hall" how's that for a title? What's wrong with "The Friendship", why does it give the wrong impression?
