I am using a demo of Alam DV, but I'm interested to find out few things before buying the full version,
first, I have seen in the plugin section that there's all kinds of 3d models in the plugins, so I was wondering that, can I attach my own 3d models to my movie with Alam DV or do I have to make somekind of plugin, to add my own 3d models?

and I see that Alam DV 3 is coming soon, does the plugins work for it too? and will it be more expensive than Alam DV 2

All the help is appreciated biggrin

You have to make your models into a plugin before using them in AlamDV, basically by rendering them with a transparency layer then importing them into the AlamDV2 Plugger.

The plugins won't work with AlamDV3. A few are being converted by CSB for use in AlamDV3 but these are ones they've picked.

AlamDV3 will cost more than AlamDV2, so buying AlamDV2 now makes more sense because you get AlamDV2 which you can use all the current plugins in, & create your own for, plus you get AlamDV3 free when it comes out. Be sure to download plenty of the plugins though because who knows how long they wil be there for...

but they can be added, do this same thing have to be done in AlamDV3

does the Alam DV3 get it's own new plugins, or why it is gonna be better
and does AlamDV3 allow to create your own plugins

When the Alam DV3 will be out, is there a releasing date?

As far as the plugins go, last I heard CSB was going to turn the AlamDV2 plugins section, into an AlamDV3 Stock Footage section.

Am I wrong?

Yes, I meant AlamDV3 smile oops

Why is AlamDV3 going to be better? Better lightswords, muzzle flashes, & a particle engine that sounds as if it will be able to do tons of things. Check out the News forums for previews & such.

About creating & adding plugins for AlamDV3 - I don't know but I don't think so. If they don't reply, send Tarn or Schwar a personal message with the question. With AlamDV3 though I think they're going for it creating all the effects within the program, so there won't be a need for plugins, & moving away from being a poor man's version of a 3d program. If you can't create plugins with AlamDV3, then you will still be able to with AlamDV2 (although you must buy it before AlamDV3 comes out).

There's no release date for AlamDV3, but check the To Do List in the News section. It looks like it will come out soon.

AlamDV3 doesn't use plugins at all, everything is generated properly within the program for better variation and quality. You'll also have access to some stock footage clips at FXhome.com.

If you want to be compositing 3D stuff, you'd be better off using Chromanator, which is a full compositing program, in conjunction with your 3D modeller/animator.

So all of the plugins are going to be unavailable for downlaoading as soon as EffectsLab is released? And EL will be capable or self-rendering cgi effects? Also, what are the details on the free upgrade to EL when its out?
