Edit: Seriously, dude... How is anyone going to be able to help you with something like this? Would ANY desert work? Or does it NEED to be tatooine? Because it's not exactly close. It's far, far away, actually.

It might be hard cause when podracers fly by, it usually blow alot of sand away.

I remember A Pickle made a nice desert once...

It is not hard to use creative angles and make particle effects.

If you are really stuck, why not buy bags of sand to make some terrain, make a matte painting, and green screen your actors / other objects in? Obviously using AlamDV for your special effects and Chromanator for the keying and any masks you need...

Monument Valley, Utah is the perfect place to get background pictures if you ever find yourself there.

Actualy, just a heads up. The film "Planet of the Apes" Beginning desert scene was filmed in Utah. So, like what Joel just said, Utah is an amazing part.

Well, you know, I did film a small fanfilm at a little sandune area not 3 miles away....trust me it was quite small. But you can't tell the difference...even people here came and asked us if we filmed it at the local sand dunes. So get creative!

Well, if you live in the West of the U.S., you could go to Northern Nevada (I live in Las Vegas), and you can find some Sand Dunes there.
