Painting the string green would probably make it show up more, not to mention painting something that small would be a job in its self. If it shows you have two options: You can take it out with a matte, or you can actually buy green fishing line which might work.

I'd suggest just leaving the fishing string alone. It's supposed to be relatively "invisible," albeit underwater. Painting it green would remove that "invisibility," making it green. If you leave it unpainted, and in front of your greenscreen, the greenscreen will be refracted through it anyways.

In the meantime, instead of bumping this thread to get "more" ideas, you ought to try the ones we've put out there. There aren't many we can put out there.

Perhaps we could help you better if you were to describe exactly what you're trying to do?

Basicaly I'm making a MINI Back to the future Movie with a Model replica of the Delorian Car. I wanted to make the model car look as if it was flying so I was going to hang it from fish string

No need to hang anything just film the car on a tabletop covered with green material and also the background. So you can chroma the car on any background.

this proboly wouldnt work to well but its just an idea,,, you could get or paint a glove the same color as your green screen and just hold the car..... (hippa03's idea would work much better)

But if its just still in one place, you might not get the "flying feel of it"

I guess you could still rotate it and stuff in chromanator, but if it would be on a string or held by a glove, then the motion would look more natural, i think. If not then...,well,...uh, i dunno, get to work on your movie biggrin
