Hi, over the summer I will be working on a short film. I am trying to give it the best "look" possible. What kind of programs to hollywood graphic artists use for ending title sequences? Like Spiderman's opening, the film studio logos(WB is a good example, it is diffferent in almost every film), and ending titels to films like constatine, and ending titles in general. Can you help with a name, a how to, etc... THANKS

They usually use some kind of 3d app like Cinema 4d, Maya, et cetera. Just look around the forums, there have been a few 3d posts in the last few days going in depth about the mainstream ones.

EDIT: Right below this one actually...

Hey, it's mikec!

As Serpent says, all the complex-looking titles these days are produced with a 3d program...but you should already know that.

You can produce amazing 2d titles with After Effects though, which I reckon is a better route. Unless you have some high-concept titles in your mind I'd stick with a basic combination of AE & Photoshop.

Indeed, it's mikec - the prodigal genius who's much better than everyone else here (in his own words, I believe, an 'exception').

Surely, when one is working on movies that have budgets in the millions of dollars, you can simply hire someone to do graphics for you? Have you thought of asking one of your many Hollywood contacts?

Regards,
Arktic.

(I really love it when people troll and abuse the members of a forum, then come snivelling back looking for help)

ah its him.

Ignore those guys, in hollywood they draw each frame of the titles using a pen, paper, assitate (or whatever its called, the see through plastic paper) paint, some plastercine in most cases, some action men, silly string and sometimes bubble bath.

Get you're pro +3 million quid team on the job. Making credits can be fun and awsome all at the same time.

Look foward to seeing your summer blockbuster and the final result.

Pfff....3d apps.........please.

Ahhhh.......mikey.

I must say you have real guts straggling back here.
However, there is no reason why someone shouldn't help you out in your time of peril. (but seriously, a title sequence?)

Like others, I recommend using your millions and millions to invest in a 3d app, and look at some preset font/text styles on your NLE.

Hello everyone,
My name is Michael Cooper(16) and my partner(19) and I made a short film over the summer. We thought nothing of it, however we have been accepted into many film fests and we have gotten a letter from Cannes among others. Well down to the point, I had a small meeting with a producer a few days ago and I was told to write a action, horror and video game script. The only problem is it is low budget... 3 milliion dollars. What are some good ideas?

THANKS
A man who has made a low (yeah........ok) budget, 3 MILLION DOLLAR movie doesnt have ideas for friggin TITLES. Ok.

I reckon the point of this thread was not to ask for help at all. I think he was trying to make a point. Read into that what you will.

Ok, Mikec always posts here for a reason, & if you see his past posts every topic he writes has been to make a point, either to boast or to slag off.

3 million dollars is actually a low budget film. Saying that most films use well over 10 million dollars. Of course this isn't one of our films where we don't have to pay anyone, and all we pay for is software that we'll use over and over again. But ok, w/e. Stil 3 million dollars more than I have, which can buy 2 houses down where I live. But however you want to look at it. But it is quite amazing that some one with that budget can't find out what to do. I mean, if your going to get money like that from some one, you should already be pretty creative, and you shouldn't have to have help from other people. You should just know what you want to do.
