We've just released new EffectsLab installers for Mac and PC that fix several issues that people have been encountering, as well enhancing other areas. Check the changelog for full info, but here are the biggest changes:

• Startup problems that some people were having have been resolved.

• Welcome screen has been enhanced to make it more useful.

• Lightsword hilt curve and glow sliders have been adjusted for greater control. This might require slight adjustment of existing projects.

• Particle effect engine has been overhauled for even better quality results.

We recommend that all EffectsLab users upgrade at their earliest convenience.

Same here, this update seems to be a really nice one. I like the modified start up screen and now the program doesn't go under my dock, so i can keep it at the size it is. I also like that is doesn't say EffectsLab DV.osx anymore on the top left.

I have a update suggestion for you guys:

Would you be able to make keyboard shortcuts to the different tools

For example: if you click "a" it will go the the pointer, "b" to the blade" etc.

I like the new control over the saber tips... You can now make them like Episode III's sorta triangular at the end, which is the only thing I really like about the Ep III sabers, from what i've seen in trailers, etc.

No, all you need to do is download the new updated version. Once you install correctly it will replace your previous version.

Give it a shot.

You can either add a Freehand lightsword and draw the shape yourself by adding as many points as you like, or if you want more of a curved tip then you can use the in-built support for tip curving with the 4-Point lightsword.

E.g. Add the 4-Point lightsword, draw the two points at the base of the lightsword (called the "hilt") and then draw the two points at the tip of it. Then in the right-hand panel of your screen (the Lightsword Shape Inspector), look for the Tip Curve slider and adjust it as necessary.

I have installed 865 and I continue to get error messages when I start the program for the second time.
There are only two messages now. These are the same and appear one after the other:
Director Player Error - script error, continue?
After that the program essentially hangs

This can be resolved temporarily by deleting the application_preference.xml file deep within the local settings folder.

Looking forward to a solution.
Keep up the great work smile

Cheers,
Clue

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but:

With the new upgrade and its predecessor, there seems to be no way of maximizing or minimizing or resizing the interface screen for ELDV. It seems as if the screen is resized to just barely the size of the desktop screen, and is center-justified.

But, the biggie is this: the bottom lines of the interface entitled "Masks" is cut off almost 3/4 of the way, as if it is a web page that has been resized with no scroll-down tool. Because of this I can't see/use of few of the tools on the bottom-end of the interface. Weird, eh?
