Hi Guys,

Its been a little while since we last posted on the progress of AlamDV2 so here is an update. The new version thats coming out (2.0.7) is basically the gold release version of AlamDV2 without bug testing. Once it is released there will be a few weeks of bug testing then it will probably go straight to version 2.1. This version is very important to csb-digital as it is the version that we hope to distribute on CD world wide, therefore it must be as bug free as possible. This is one of the reasons that this update is taking longer than most.

Where all previous AlamDV2 updates have been the same program with small changes to fix problems and add new features, version 2.0.7 is 85% new code. The interface is new and it has been updated to support other languages (the languages files and final skin template will come with v2.0.7 as well).

We've gone beyond our original spec for AlamDV2 in 2.0.7 and added many new features, some of which I have listed below (i'll keep some secret for the release). It should be much easier to use and quicker to....

New Interface/Interface Engine.
1. Finalised Skin File for every element in the program.
2. All visible text objects (menus and dialogs) are created from external files that come with the skin - this allows for different lanuages.
3. A new, more simple interface that makes it easier to understand the different timelines and kills off unwanted/outdated items.
4. Animation options so users can have quad control like AlamDV1 or AlamDV2 (also changed see below).
5. The quad is modified using both mouse button (ctrl-click for right mouse on the Mac). Left mouse for normal dragging. Right mouse for rotate, 3D sides and scale. Makes everything a lot easier.
6. The amount of one screen graphics has been reduced to make it more zippy and its also much prettier.
7. (Secret Function)
8. All sliders that control frames movement now stick to frames - making everything feel nicer. The Timeline slider (at the top of the timeline) and the main slider both update the render unless you right click for quick movement. The timeline also displays a frame as a block rather than just a line. It's all dynamic and much more predictable.
9. Timelines reworked.

New Render Engine.
1. (Secret Function)
2. (Secret Function)
3. Options to change the size of your render or crop the render - will increase speed.
4. (Secret Function)

New Plugin import engine.
1. Creates backups of your .cst files before installing new effects.
2. Effects warning on Mac versions if you try to add too many plugins.
3. Progress bar now shows progress for each image of each plugins - much more reliable and easier to understand.

1. A load of updates to the timeline which gives you more predictable control.
2. Preferences reworked to give more control while being far more simple to use.
3. QuickTime and AVI are no longer split on the import dialog. Its now nice and simple and the same on Mac and PC platforms. Movie, Image Stream or Still Image. (AlamDV auto detects the file type)

These will be the final changes to our current engine. We may use the engine for a couple of other programs but basically the whole future of csb-digital rests on AlamDV2 and its successful transition to CD distribution world wide. We are doing our best with version 2.0.7, but it is taking more time than expected - it should be released mid next week. I will be deleting all the bug posts on the forum so we can start with a clean slate - and get this thing sorted. Thanks to everyone who has helped with bug reports so far - we couldn't have done it without you.

I hope AlamDV2 2.0.7 is everything you expect and a bit more. See you in the chat room.
